Bill Maher: The Left and the Right Need to Stop Making Each Other Apologize For Everything

HBO

Echoing his op-ed in the New York Times earlier this week, comedian Bill Maher called for the left and the right “to agree to stop making each other apologize for everything” during his HBO show Friday night.

Referencing actor Robert DeNiro’s joke Monday night about whether “the country is ready for a white first lady” — which both Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum took umbrage at — Maher said he was “urging America to seriously consider a national day of no outrage.”

“Just one day out of the year when Hank Williams Jr. can say some ignorant sh-t on Fox News without the ‘good people’ demanding he be thrown off of Monday Night Football,” Maher said. “Yes, he compared Obama to Hitler. But he — and this is the crucial part — is Hank Williams Jr.”

“In the last few years, we have been shocked and outraged by the unbelievable insensitivity by Nike shoes, the Fighting Sioux, the White House Christmas tree, the White House Christmas card, burning the Koran, apologizing for burning the Koran, Don Imus, Tracy Morgan, Gilbert Gottfried, Ashton Kutcher and the ESPN guy who used the wrong Chinese cliche for Jeremy Lin after everyone else used all the others,” he said.

He continued,”If it weren’t for throwing conniption fits, we wouldn’t get any exercise at all. So here’s a crazy idea: From now on, if you see or hear something you don’t like in the media, just go on with your life.”

In recent weeks, conservatives have held Maher’s past sexist comments up as a kind of counter-example amid the controversy of Rush Limbaugh calling a Georgetown Law student a “slut.”

Addressing Limbaugh, Maher said he finds him “obnoxious” but that he’s been able to co-exist with him because “I don’t listen to his program — the only time I hear him is when I’m at a stoplight next to a pickup truck.”

“I think we’re like this because outside of the military, few of us really do anything for our country. So we need something to make us feel like we’re making a contribution. And that that thing is, when given the chance, we help stop ‘bad people’ — bad people like Hank Williams and Robert DeNiro and oh, occasionally Bill Maher,” he said.

I’m still scratching my head wondering WHY hard working tax payers have to pay for loose women to have contraceptives???????? DUH. How stupid has the people (who are supporting this) become? I’m wondering if they are all either out of their minds completely or on drugs or have some kind of brain damage?

They’re not out of their minds or on drugs. This is just one more step towards socialism. As soon as they get that done we‘ll find ourselves in the same position as Germany’s Hitler and Russia’s Lennon. God help us.

Sorry but did you say “loose women”? What about loose men? How old are you? It would be very nice if women could depend on men but the truth is men these days are completely shameless and infantile. I would no sooner depend on man than sprout wings and fly. Men like you are the problem–you didn’t teach them and you blame women endlessly. You make me sick.

Scratching your head won’t get you to those answers.

A little research and you will find the link between The Left’s “war on women” aka “women’s health“ aka ”birthcontrol“ aka ”abortion” and BHO’s Assault On Our First Amendment Rights!

Don’t get sidetracked by the dum-dem distraction cards, played right out of their dum-dem playbook!

Maher should denounce censorship he is either for it or he’s against censorship.,.. it’s not about “apologizing” and Bill Maher knows it… this is about blatant censorship by way of threats and blackmail.. and make no mistake Maher knows it will make its way to his doorstep sooner or later
Anyone in the business he’s in should be very worried watching this censorship.

He should take a stand against censorship he’s either for it or against it.

If I’m not mistaken it was the “left” that insisted on ‘tolerance.’ And it was the “left” that insisted on ending the “politics of self destruction.“ And it was the ”left“ that cried to bring ”civility” back. It’s the “left” that wants ‘fairness’ and to end “hurtful” and “racist” commentary. But it’s the left that leads the attack in every one of these areas of discourse.

And you have the temerity to say we need to end that policy of kindness? Why? so your contract can be renewed? Spare me. You made your bed and it stinks as bad as it did before.

Truth “IS” the sunshine that cleanses the stench from your prejudice. And we ain’t letting go of it. Snivel all you want, weasel.

The truth be told that this guy wraps himself in a cloak of being a comedian–never mind the extreme degree of hostility he puts out, never mind the ugly indulgence he affords himself. He believes he is just a funny man that can skate under the radar and indulge his most primitive of inclinations and we will all be with him, because he’s funny? I don’t think he is funny, never have. It offends me that he only gets laid at the Playboy Mansion–I for one suspect this says a lot about his ability to connect with real people, people who aren’t paid to have congress, of whatever sort, with him, don’t bother. He is one hateful motherf’er. That he actually uses the c-word is just unbelievable–but it‘s OK because he’s on HBO, and a comedian? Really? He is one sick motherf’er, but we are supposed to be OK with that….

A polite society is the only thing that saves him. Should society ever crack or become damaged significantly, Mr. Maher will be eaten by his own kind.

There is a huge difference between being Jewish and being a Zionist. American jews feel entitled to the USA and its perks and many have forgotten about their brethren and their strifes. My jewish friends resent their jewish compadres that have forgotten their roots. They talk of it often in conversations re: Israel.

The left and far left use this type of rift to concoct untruths to forward their agenda and influence the masses that only get their news from the alphabet channels and the likes of POSNBC. It’s ALL political.
Look at the Flock situation. What better way to push it into the main stream then use Rush’s comment to escalate the agenda and get the subject off of the state controlling the church (destroying the 1st Amendment) and onto women’s so-called “rights” and socialistic entitlements while smearing the right. A 2 for 1er. The right is just being reactionary and doesn’t have the skills to intelligently react to this type of attack.
POSMaher has been at the forefront of this agenda-driven drivel from the start and provides a platform for the left to reach the younger voters and influence them (under the guise of being a comedian??).
He feels the pressure on his back and wants to remove it so he can get back to his same old spewing filth and lies. When he donated 1 million dollars to the NoBama campaign he put himself into a political activist position and no longer “just” a comedian…plain and simple.
He has compromised his position and he knows it.
The right needs to keep the pressure on the likes of this guy, but they won’t.

Well, I hate to say it but I agree with him on one point. Stop making everyone cleanse everything they say and think and enough with the apologies and go do something productive. By the way, Maher gets a pass every stinking day for saying things that are so foul that everybody should turn the channel. Sharpton and Wright and Fahrakan same thing. On the other hand, Hank was crucified for saying something that was blown out of proportion and made to be something it was not. Oh the left is SO outraged until they have to own up to their filth.

Even though I hate the man Bill Maher has become and I don’t watch his show. I do agree with him. If you say something, own it, don’t apologize for it. The apology is insincere. There is a difference between making a comment that is taken wrong versus purposely making a comment to convey a feeling. I would say on both an apology is not warranted, however on the first you might say “that was not my intent” and if you took offense then that is on you “as I can’t not control your feelings”. Definitely on the latter, it is moot to apologize.

If Sandra Fluke want‘s to get her and other women free contraception that aren’t married, that tells me you plan to have sex, more sex, and nothing but sex; in my book that makes you a “slut”. Don’t like the title, don’t do the deed. Even the Bible calls you “harlots”, is that a better term?

Actually, most of Obama’s inclinations were put in front of the American people. Rev Wright, Bill Ayers, etc…Nobody wanted to listen or take him at his word. They just wanted something different and the republicans offered up McCain. If it was Obama, it would have been Hillary (I shudder at the thought). It is the GOP’s fault for putting up a John Kerry candidate for last election and they are going to do the same this time. Romney better pick a super VP running mate to even make it half way interesting.

Because the reality is that way back thousands and thousands of years ago the spirit of God was put in the earth, and it surfaced in Jesus Christ. Then Jesus gave up that ghost, and Jesus was removed far away to a planet far far away. And there was that invisible water that came out of Jesus that went to the people which was “Seeing” the events. But see, Jesus didn’t break up his spirit (bread) with people, because he did that thousands of years before his crucifixion. So now Jesus will be riding in a Star-ship coming to bring the heat down on you..
