Bill OReilly Interviews Sean Stone About His Conversion to Islam

Last week, The Blaze reported about Sean Stone’s conversion to Islam while visiting Iran. As we explained, the young filmmaker made the decision to become a Shiite Muslim while working on a documentary in the region. Stone, who is the son of Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone, sat down with Bill O’Reilly on Monday night to discuss the experience, while weighing in on Iranian relations with the U.S.

Among the points of discussion, Stone tackled the word “conversion,” which generally encompasses any move from one faith to another. Rather than fully embracing this as a characterization for his own recent faith change, he differentiated. Rather than calling it a “conversion,” per se, he maintained that the Jewish, Christian and Muslim God is one in the same and that he has merely “accepted” a new religion.

“I’ve always believed in the same Judeo-Christian God,” Stone said. “And it’s a misunderstanding of Islam to say Allah is a different god. It’s just a different name for the same one.”

In addition to discussing his personal faith “acceptance,” Stone also delved into the meetings he held with Iran’s top leaders. Rather than painting them in a negative light, he alluded to calm and peaceful discussions with them. Additionally, he maintained that these meetings were positive for America’s image.

“They understood my point of view,” he explained. “I think it really helped for the American image, frankly, for me being there and having these conversations — having this dialogue.”

O‘Reilly took particular issue with Stone’s meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who by all accounts is an extremist. The host went on to compare spending time with him to meeting with Hitler in Nazi Germany. In response, Stone attempted to temper some of Ahmadinejad‘s past stated views and commentary, but did admit that Holocaust denial is inexcusable.

“It’s simplistic to say that he is a fanatic,” Stone said.

The young filmmaker went on, despite O‘Reilly’s disagreement, to support allowing Iran to have a nuclear weapon.

The difference is that people who are on top of a mountain see the light, and say “Oh it’s the rising sun”, but the people in the low laying valleys, and coastal regions say “Oh, what is that, that thing, that change?       By the way, if you happen to be thrown onto the sea of fire, it doesn‘t mean that you’ll roast on some hideous flames. Do you think God would really do that to people? The Islamic heresy came after the Arian (Jehovah Witness) heresy, LDS heresy, or the United Pentecostal heresy… but in there own way, like Satan tempting God in the desert, heresy is designed to alienate the believer and destroy his faith in the one true God and replace that faith with another.

      On the other side you have those that fear the Lord of the universe and fall down at the feet of His Son, Jesus Christ and ask to be forgiven of our sins.

      While many people view God differently it does not stand to reason that the many are correct. To use the analogy that when viewed from different perspectives that an object looks different to people looking at it from different directions is about as useless of an analogy as b@@bs on a boar (forgive my graphic imagery). Because it is not man that has discovered god but rather that God has revealed himself. Now all 3 monotheistic religions Judasim, Christianity, and Islam believe that their holy writings are given by God through His messengers. So we do not lQQk at God from many angles, we lQQk at Him as He reveals himself to us and that should mean there is an absolute consistency about how He is viewed. To break down further, if you described yourself one way to a group of people as being redemptive, peace-loving, gentle and humble and to another group of people you said hey if they don’t believe cut their heads off. This is not the same God from different perspectives this is 2 different beings. One characterized one way and the other characterized very differently. You see the perspective has never been determined by man but rather by God and He chooses how to reveal Himself to us. I get so tired of seeing that flawed non sequitur that attempts to explain different religions as different paths to the same God. That is irrational and inconsistent reasoning on many levels.

      O’Reilly completely gave him a pass. Just because the generic word for god in Arabic is Allah, and Arabic Christians use that word to mean Yahweh, that doesn’t mean that the Muslim god NAMED Allah is the same God as Yahweh. They have totally opposite fruit, and Christ said that by their fruit shall ye know them. One is a God of justice, love, peace, and freedom. The other is a god of hatred, slavery, anger, and violence. They are clearly not the same God.

      Saying that their view of the nature of God is skewed may be correct. However, Allah is the word for “the God” in Arabic, comparable to the other semitic names for God like Elaha, Elohim, Alaha, etc… They believe in and claim to worship “the God” of Abraham, which is what Jews and Christians believe. The most you can say is that Islam is a false religion, but that is what they think of yours.

    Muslims do worship the same God – they just call Him “Allah”. Islam‘s problem is that they do not consider or accept Christ as God’s Son and Savior of the world, yet the Koran acknowledges His virgin birth and His resurrection from the dead. Go figure.

      The prophet Muhammad believed in more than 365 Gods before he chose the Sun God which was named Allah to begin his religion. It is not the same God that Christians follow, nor is Allah a personal
      God as the God of Abraham. You will not find any reference to “Allah” in the bible

      It saddens me every time I hear somebody accepting Islam.

      I bet this guy or any person that accepts Islam knows only the “beautiful words”, from Muslims, which are whispered with a sly tongue into the ears of their victims. And victims they are, because now they have become slaves to Islam. For them it is now Islam or death. Death is the penalty for leaving Islam.

      This “conversion” happens especially to people on the left. They have no firm foundation.They are easily convinced of the “goodness” of Islam. People on the left are completely guided by their feelings. (I FEEL this is good therefore it is so.) And then they start to change everything that actually IS good. Every one can see the horrible results. Look at the way people have to live and are treated in Muslim or communist countries all over the world. In communism equality gives everybody equal misery. In Islam women and minorities are treated like animals.

      I lived right beside East Germany in West Germany. I saw the watch towers and the the dead bodies of people who tried to leave. And every popular ex-Muslim who speaks out about Islam needs body guards because they have a fatwa against them.

      But there is also hope, which is in Christ. Jesus Christ IS Truth. Know Him and be free!

    I saw the interview last night and was amazed how stupid intelligent people can be – this man is obviously not an idiot yet he rationalizes the extreme behavior of the Iranian leadership which puts people to death for being gay – yet this man, I would guess, thinks it is against gay civil rights not to marry in this country. Well, Mr. Stone, I think a gay person in Iran would rather have you fighting for their right to live. He also tried to make excuses for Ahmadinejad that I submit borderlines delusional such as Ahmadinejad’s desire to wipe out Israel – instead equating it with the West Bank, not the entire state of Israel. He lessened Ahmadinejad’s denial of the holocaust, he lessened his fanatical positions and in turn he lessened himself for being a pawn of a regime that stones women for being with men, that hangs men for being gay and that imprisons and puts to death people of the Christian faith. I would also guess Stone supports the OWS movement. In Iran protestors against the government were shot, arrested and hanged. Rationalized that, Mr. Stone.

      It most certainly does say so in the Old Testament. Revelation says most of the same: stand against God, and you’ll be killed. Additionally, most denominations teach that if you don‘t believe you’ll spend eternity being tormented in Hell. As for women – again, read the Old Testament. A man rapes a woman and he has to pay her father off. A woman’s unfaithful and she gets stoned to death. It’s not until the time of Jesus that the behavior is stopped.

      Come on now. I’m a Christian and I know my religion. What do you believe in? It doesn’t sound like you know the Bible.
