Anne Graham Lotz

Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of famed evangelical leader the Rev. Billy Graham, believes that the 9/11 attacks on America were a wake-up call from God.

She believes that the event, though tragic, served as a call to all Christian believers to start a revival in the church. It was this horrific event, Lotz explains, that further sparked and reinvigorated her interest in spreading the gospel. According to Beliefnet, as she watched the towers fall on television a decade ago, God set her “heart on fire”:

“On that day, God woke me up and set my heart on fire to tell other people the glorious good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

It made me more focused. As I watched the towers fall, I thought I was watching 50,000 people die, but many people had gotten out. It was less than 3,000, but it was still shattering. I asked myself how many were not ready to step into eternity. I remember that very day sharing the Gospel with strangers. I came out bolder. It was a time not to be silent.”

That passion apparently is still aflame inside of her as she says that she doesn’t want to see anyone “die without Jesus.” Christians like Lotz believe that admittance to heaven is dependent upon an acceptance of and a relationship with Jesus Christ. In a 2001 CNN interview that followed the terror attacks, she discussed the lessons 9/11 has taught:

I believe one of the lessons — and there are many, and some we are still learning — but one lesson is that we need each other. One is that there is more meaning to life than material prosperity. I think one lesson is that it’s time to think about our priorities, and what really matters, what’s really important. An over-arching lesson is one I’ve already given, and that‘s that while we’re buying insurance, homeowners, life, etc., we should also make sure that we’re insured for eternity, and the way to do that is to place faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.

Anne Graham Lotz: 9/11 Was A Wake up CallShe also contends that Americans have pushed God “farther and farther out of our government, businesses, marketplace and schools.” How do we fix this fatal error, you ask? Lotz says we simply need to repent and invite God back. Some, clearly, would scoff at such a notion, believing that faith and these sectors are meant to exist separately.

Of course, Lotz knows her statements and views are controversial, but she’s fine with that. She explains that she’s here to speak the “truth,” but with love. Knowing full well that debate may follow her commentary, she warns of what could come next if America doesn’t start listening:

“God allowed September 11 and used it. If we don’t wake up, what is going to come next?

This is a wake-up call for you! America, are you listening? [...]

In a world where political correctness seems to deny truth, where moral relativism seems to deny standards, and where religious pluralism seems to deny God, it’s vital to know what we believe and why we believe it.”

Ten years after 9/11, she says: “We’re still sleeping!” The wake-up call that she claims was sent from God has apparently, in her view, not yet been heeded.

This year, to commemorate the anniversary of the attacks, Lotz plans to co-host a worldwide Simulcast along with Christian author Joel Rosenberg. This event will include a 9-week Bible study to follow (optional of course). Below, see an event trailer that encourages Americans to “wake up”:

Regardless of where one stands on Lotz’s beliefs, it does appear that the passion she so actively showcased following the September 11 attacks is still driving her work today.

    All that,and less than 10 years later we(as a whole) elect a man for President named Barack Hussein Obama,with a ‘shady’ past at best.We as a Nation deserve the present and coming grief,doom and gloom.We learned nothing from 9-11,in my opinion.

      I hope you are very young, and still have time to re-examine your opinion of the Creator of the Universe. I hope you understand that we all have to COME TO GOD. HE doesn’t FORCE us. Islam is from Satan. THEY force people; they enslave people; they are the cause of the“DARK AGES” and at one time covered more land on earth than the ROMANS had, they are after that world domination again.       As far as prayer it is a win /win situation. I KNOW what God does in my life.
      As far as the healing… who says this has NOT happened.

      @HOLY GHOST BUSTER The Bible is the Word of God. God did tell Saul to get rid of a whole race of people. I’ll let you guess which ones. He said to not even leave their animals alive. The reason was because they kept sneaking up on Israeli camps and murdering them. Even God gets angry. But Saul thought that he knew better than God. He saved the best animals for sacrifice to God and that wasn’t what God told him to do. God had told him that if he didn’t get rid of them, there would be trouble from now on. Of course, in the book of Romans.. God says that there are those created for mercy and there are those created for destruction. The reason is something to the effect of “we need to be able to see the bad, before we can see the power of His good. As for healing… we are here in earth suits. One day…every knee will bow at the mention of His name and confess that Jesus is Lord..ones in heaven, ones on the earth and ones below the earth. This means you too… there is no option there…but He does give you the opportunity to accept Him now. Confess your belief that Jesus/Yeshua is the Son of God.. that He died for our sins and rose the third day and still lives. Learn your Bible.. the NKJ is easy to read..I would suggest a study bible by John Macarthur and get with a group of Christians for Bible study. You need to ask God for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Remember….faith,….belief…if you deny Him before men…He will deny you before the Father

      @ DSOA This was a long thought out plan to get to where they are. Look around. Unions are largely responsible. Union workers have sold their souls to the devil for more pay. Hence, teachers uniions preaching a liberal agenda at schools and universities, pumping Communist/Islamic propaganda into the soft heads of children. Then you have all the other uniions which you can see is headed up by the Mafia.. Islam/Communism joined at the hip. This country was thrown to the dogs and it is doutful that it can ever recover. Demoralization of America ,starting with schools , greed, power mongering, criminal tactics,our tax dime funded Acorn..they had all the bases covered. I didn’t vote for him. He repulsed me. But people here don’t understand the magnitude of which muslims have infiltrated our government. I bellieve that we are on the Titanic, and it’s just a matter of time. Remember..there’s always car trunk votes. never forget the trillions that Obama loaded his buddies pockets with and the healthcare (property/money grab) shoved down our throats.     Yes, pretty much agree & also with those that said we “woke up” briefly but went back to sleep – she probably meant that also. It never lasts very long for most – human nature. Always just a few who “stay awake”…..reminds me of what Jesus said to His disciples the night he was betrayed and they went to sleep even after He asked them to stay awake & admonished “keep alert and pray. Otherwise temptation will overpower you. For the spirit is willing, but how weak the body is!” They were asleep for different reasons but the admonishment is a wise one for us all at all times in life…which is unpredictable & difficult but now we’re in even more dire times here…..many powerful enemies out to get us more now than in the past b/c they see our weaknesses & Obama as a “plus” for them.
    Also agree about the Towers being symbolic to the terrorists AND God allowing it — our materialistic, greedy, godless proud society – needed to repent and get back to God but most of us reacted with pride, saying we’d get revenge – we are all powerful America, etc. – like that song by Toby Keith then . Wrong reaction. We weren’t humble or repentant. Sort of like when the Titanic went down. Everyone proudly boasted of their human ability to build this “indestructible” ship – filled with greedy, proud, rich people — guess what – it went down. That was a wake up call too. but we didn’t heed it either. Oh well……afraid it might be time for more drastic wake up calls.

      The ship was built with sections and so many sections needed to be damaged for the ship to go down,
      because they could close them off.
      So what happened…. they scraped the TIP of and iceburg and like a knife it sliced along the side of the boat damaging one more compartment then the ship was able to handle. I hope that I explained that as to understand. There are many more factors in this event that speak of the arrogance of people. Many ,many lives could have been saved in that tragic event. Didn’t mean to get off subject, but it is all connected. If you already knew this my apologies…..Blessings

Anne is a wonderful lady, and has great insight into the CALL from GOD.     Pentagon = our military power

    Towers go down… financial collapse ( we see the great possibility of this happening)

    Her “truth” sounds generic to me.
    Pilot asked Jesus “What is truth”?
    Shouldn’t it be more than her words here? I’m sure she is a nice lady but really, I think there is more ‘real truth’ that we need to learn besides we need each other.

    For instance, why did Jesus have to die for us? Because we are sinners, I know but why are we sinners? That is something everyone needs to know.

      Gates – He does not understand the Bible. Oh my gosh. A man who has devoted his life to service for the Lord and you say that. I suppose you praise Maxine Waters for telling the Tea Party to “go to He**”, but mock a lovely Christian woman and her family.
      OldTrucker – Jesus died for all our sins because God gave us free will thus giving us the choice to sin or not. Who would want a God that had us have no choice to love Him or not. He wants us to love Him freely. So many prefer to live in sin. Therefore God loved us enough to want to save even us that sin.

      OldTrucker – because God gave us Free Will. Do you understand that concept? We are free to sin or not to sin. We have a choice. If you are asking why some of us sin and other sin less, I guess it comes from learning the word of God or the lack of it. If we were made perfect and never sinned, then I guess we would not have free will.

      Old Trucker – God even gave the angels free will. One rebelled against God and took lots of dark angels with him. So God threw Lucifer out of Heaven. You see, God doesn’t want robots to love Him. That is why he made us free. There is good and evil in life. We have to choose, but that leaves us open to temptation and sin. Knowing what God hopes for us helps. Reading the Bible helps us understand good and evil.

      Whitefang – yes, but then OldTrucker would ask, why did Adam sin. Doesn’t it come back to choice? Adam and Eve had a choice to obey God and not eat the fruit of one tree.       I understand what you are saying, we all have free will, we can and do make our decisions. We all must also know that every decision will have a consequence either good or bad. Since Adam made his wrong decision, all of us has inherited his imperfection and our Creator has made it possible for us to be redeemed from that consequence (death) through the ransom paid by His Son, Jesus Christ.

      The question for us is; What decision will we make regarding this dynamic love from God?

      My question was legitimate and simple; Why are we sinners? Yes we have free will, that is not arguable. I was asking for some thought from people as to why or how we got to the condition we are in, we being sinners. Most of us do not want to sin, but we do, we can’t help it. What a dilemma.

      I was not trying to insult you. Try not to be so hostile or defensive to a simple question.

      Oh come on! You’re really THAT shallow that you are going to decide by her looks (which, btw, just have the appearance of a woman growing older who does not really know what to do with her graying hair and how to remain current in her looks, w/o looking like an old woman trying to pass herself off as a teenager) whether or not to believe her message? I think “thou dost protest to much” and probably don‘t really WANT to believe her message and are finding some lame excuse so that you don’t have to be responsible for believing–which, is not gonna work out for you in the end, by the way. She is exactly right, and I, for one, will be listening to her broadcast tomorrow night on AFR radio. REMEMBER, “Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart.” How does He see yours?

    God sent the Israelites warnings too. When they didn’t pay attention to them, He sent conquerors in and they went in to slavery to foreigners. Eventually they got the message and turned back to God and he would redeem them. Of course the people who ignored the warnings were long gone by the time the people were redeemed. I hope America isn’t as hard headed but, I’m afraid we are…maybe worse.

      There is no scripture that says that is there. It is not good to misrepresent the Bible.

      I was only asking the question to see if you were interested in knowing or wanting to argue. If so I would not have replied.

      I would never purposely mis- represent any teaching in the bible (don’t be so quick to accuse).

      It is in the Old testement; I do not know where exactly, but if you will be patient I will attempt to find it for you. I will be very busy next week working very long hours and taking some time off the following,but I will make the effort to find it.I hope this is acceptable. I will see a post from you at some point.       As someone who hates God and Christians, that is fine, but you have to be careful who you say such things about because when you are wrong it makes it obvious you are just being an anti-Christian bigot. The Grahams have always been one of the finest Christian families. Billy Graham set a real example for all Christian pastors. Next time you decide to make a vile attack, at least do a tiny bit of research first to make sure you aren’t exposing your own problems.

      There is a God and I love the creator of the universe. I do right by him and he does right by me.
      I do not need a Man-Writen book to know how to live…..maybe you do.

      It has nothing to do with bitterness and everything to do with seeing clowns like the Graham’s play the suckers of this world.

      If God can see you in the deepest darkest pit commit a sin…..when God can see you pray from anywhere.
      You don’t have to go to a suckers church to pray.
      If the church cost more to build, does that mean God will hear your prayers better?

      Some are blinded and refuse to acknowledge God. All men are created with an inward awareness of God but hardened hearts refuse to acknowledge Him. The current world situation with all its calamities could be His judgement or warning us to change our direction. The situation certainly should let us know how much we cannot control in our lives. And of some of those things that we have the capability to control many times we do a miserable job trying.

    Hats off to Anne Graham for her bravery and standing up for the truth (which isn’t in parentheses, by the way). The main reason this country has gotten off track is because we have shut God out of our American system. People have so screwed up the definition of “separation of church and state” that we no longer stand for Biblical truth in the government. If we go back to our Judeo-Christian heritage, we will thrive; if not, then I fear the time for America is almost up. Other countries have dethroned God from their lives and the countries are now in shambles. Mark my words: no country will ever survive or stand very long without God. Thank you, Anne, for staying strong. Do not ever give up the fight.

    Of course she is correct.
    I believe all that is happening in the world today has been predestined.
    All we as Christians need to do is “believe, trust, rely and cling” to Jesus and his teachings.
    Love our Heavenly Farther and Love our fellow man.
    God sent Jesus down to end the first covenant at the right time. Is it possible the the second coming is getting close as a result of humanities arrogant wickedness today?

    Anne Graham Lotz is a great and brave woman. She is speaking the truth….in a time when VERY FEW OTHERS ARE.

    Thank God there are those such as her, that have paid the price to walk in the fear of the Lord, and stand uncompromising and declare the Word of the trud and Living God.

    May we not turn a deaf ear, but listen and obey with a sense of urgency. We are surely in trouble, and there are none of us who do not need to come out of thespirit of slumber that has come upon this nation. I for one, know that includes me. May we heed the warning of God and become sober.

    When evil abounds, and evil calls evil good, and that which is good evil…..then we are truly in perilous time.

    The election is important-BUT AND ELECTION CANNOT SAVE US. ONLY GOD CAN SAVE US. HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN FAITHFUL, EVEN WHEN WE HAVE NOT.

    Let us hear her words and quickly with urgency obey.

    May God bless you all…and may His Grace and Mercy be upon us and our families and this nation.

    Amen …………………. many people have already forgotten or just don’t really care about what happened on 911. Its sad and just like Pearl Harbor on December 7th, September 11th should not be forgotten.
