Birther and Former Army Officer Denied Medical License Allegedly Over Political Views

No matter your thoughts on President Obama’s citizenship,* members of both sides will likely be interested in this story.

Remember Terrence Lee Lakin? If the name doesn’t ring a bell, how about Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin. Still no dice? How about this: he’s the birther Army officer who refused to obey orders to deploy to Afghanistan because he said those orders were coming from a president with questionable citizenship. He was put before a court martial and sentenced to jail. After serving six months, he was released and dishonorably discharged from the service.

So why are we talking about him again?

Well a shocking new charge has emerged from Lakin’s attempt at a civilian career in Kansas. According to him, he was denied a license to practice osteopathic medicine not because he wasn’t qualified, but because of his political views.

“The dishonorable discharge had no bearing on Lakin’s license to practice medicine in Maryland or Colorado,” reports KCTV in Kansas. “But the Kansas board ruled Lakin‘s refusal to deploy to Afghanistan ’…potentially jeopardized the health, safety and welfare of the military troops for with applicant was employed to provide medical care.’”

The board is the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts, which is appointed by the governor and “decides the fate of doctors in Kansas,” according to the station.

So Lakin –  a doctor of osteopathic medicine — went before the medical board. The hearing lasted about 16 minutes and a transcript shows the board was mostly concerned with his politics, not his practice. KCTV reports:

Lenexa physician Michael J. Beezley kicked off the questioning about Lakin’s thoughts on the president.

“So I guess you need to explain the difference between going to Afghanistan in 2004 and going over there after President Obama was elected,” said Beezley. “Is that the big kick?”

“Yes,” replied Lakin.

Ellsworth Dr. Ronald Whitmer then followed up.

“Do you believe he was a U.S. citizen, President Obama?” he asked.

“I don’t know,” Lakin replied.

“…the long form of his birth certificate has been publicized,” Whitmer said. “What does it take to make you believe that he is a U.S. citizen?”

“I think that I have a question and I don‘t think that question’s been answered, but if this has to do with my medical capabilities…,” said Lakin.

“What would make you have that answered?” said Whitmer.

Whitmer kept pressing Lakin.

“Say if and when he’s elected again and the Reconciliation Act becomes law, which it already is, and all of a sudden we have 20 million more people who’ve got healthcare, are you going to refuse those people because this is?” asked Whitmer.

“No. No. No,” insisted Lakin. “I was being ordered to a combat zone to, you know, put my life on the line.”

The board eventually denied Lakin a license because “the court-martial is dishonorable conduct,” according to the transcript.

According to KCTV the board refused to comment on the hearing. But the station did note it was odd that Lakin was refused a license when another doctor who went before the medical board did. Why is it odd? Because that doctor had “a history of medical mistakes and malpractice payouts.” One patient even died as a result.

But he’s in. Lakin, pending an expensive appeal that he’s not sure he can afford, is out.

They have all since died.Today citizens need not apply for the job of president! Only Natural Born Citizen’s can be a president, something MORRISON R. WAITE, the seventh United States Supreme Court Chief Justice, the highest authority of U.S. Constitutional Law of his day, a significant American and historical citizen who is being deliberately dissed today…..says that Obama is a genuine usurper because of his non citizen father.

      I served 26 years.
      Obama could have RELEASED that 2nd BC before this guy was court-martialed but he let this 18 year active duty physician lose his military retirement by releasing it AFTER he was kicked out.

      If the SHTF in a civil unrest situation, it will be interesting to see how many veterans fight for or against this tyrannical government which started a STEEP downhill decline under Bush and is rapidly hitting bottom under Obama.

      What I truly despise is that while this military man STOOD UP FOR HIS PRINCIPALS saying Obama was NOT eligible to be president and NOT just because he may have been born outside the USA but because his FATHER WAS Born in Kenya when Romney’s father (and probably his mother) was born in Mexico – NOT on American soil or military installation.       Hey man – come to Oklahoma – small town – not enough doctors. To get an appointment with my family Dr. I have to wait 3 months. My 3 sons take themselves and my grandsons to Emergency care. They all have good insurence but there is a shortage of Drs.If you think like I do it is bad wait until 33 million more are dumped into the system. If you go to the regular ER at the hospital you will wait 3 hrs.. You are being punished in Kansa because the former Gov. Sublas has her nose you know where an obama said to punish you.

The only question, will that be which Dr‘s are licensed only or who does and doesn’t get medical care.       I understand – you liberals never let facts get in the way of your bashing and name-calling. In this particular case, Lt. Lakin wanted a statement from his superiors confirming that Mr. Obama met the Art II, Section 1, Clause 5 conditions to serve as POTUS. NOBODY in his chain of command would confirm this. NOBODY. He went to Congress and requested a congressional inquiry as required by military law – NOOOOO Answer. NOBODY would go on record confirming that Mr. Barack Obama was a “natural born Citizen”. That is very troubling – especially if you have a) sworn an oath to protect and defend the US Constitution as an oath by a military officer and b) you can find yourself from the Geneva Convention protections if you are engaging in an “illegal act” – which, following orders from a person not entitled to hold the office of Commander-In-Chief of the US Armed Forces, could be argued as an “illegal act” if you had doubts about the legality of the orders by followed them anyway.

      Wow I can not believe the political correctness here.

      Obama has in fact never allowed his real Birth Certificate to be seen. He spent millions of his own money not doing so and has now spent millions more of the tax payers to never let it be seen.

      Yesterday a Georgia Judge ruled in favor of Obama even though he did not produce anything for the court and neither did any of his lawyers. You try that and you will lose the case and have a warrant out for your arrest. But not in the Soviet States of America.

      Birther – defination – Someone who believes a President should actually meet the requirements for the position he will serve in. Obamas father was not a US citizen thus Obama is not natural born. Meaning the law of Nature says you are a citizen of the country your parents are citizens of when you are born. Obama is a Dual Citizen (actually tri as Kenya was part of Brittan and granted that children could choose). This is by Obamas most likely fake birth certificates he produced.

      Should this be the primary way of attacking Obama. No. But it is valid hardly crazy.

      Wrong, citizenship is not determined by parents (unless parents are dipolmates) but by place of birth. Holding in United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649 (1898), the Supreme Court ruled in that the citizenship language in the Fourteenth Amendment encompassed essentially everyone born in the U.S, even the U.S.-born children of foreigners and could not be limited in its effect by an act of Congress. Basically citizenship is determined Jus Soli.

      i said, “Natural Born” citizen. it’s a really simple concept…
      if both of your parents are americans, and you are born on american soil, you are a natural born american… otherwise you are not… that was the supreme court ruling.

      the Supreme Court of the United States has never applied the term “natural born citizen” to any other category than “those born in the country of parents who are citizens thereof”.

      You are mistaken, sir. Under the laws of our great nation anyone who is born here enjoys the status of a natural born citizen and may one day run for the office of President. The drivel you link to is disingenuous and misleading. The Court made it very clear that in their decision on Minor v Happersett that they were NOT setting a precedent by establishing a complete and exclusive definition of natural born citizen,

      “Some authorities go further and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction without reference to the citizenship of their parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. For the purposes of this case it is not necessary to solve these doubts.”

      US v Wong Kim Ark quotes that decision ONLY to point out that it was not a settled issue, before going on to decide that the citizenship of the parents of a person born here was irrelevant to their status as natural born. The quotes reproduced by the author also make clear that the Court regarded native and natural born as synonyms in direct contradiction to his attempts to invent some imaginary new difference between them and claim that there was some third kind of citizen other than naturalized and natural born.

      That’s just a convoluted argument to the effect that US v Wong Kim Ark was decided incorrectly. That doesn’t alter the fact that it was decided and has never been overturned. That makes it the law of the land, and it will remain so unless and until you take all your arguments to the current Supreme Court and convince them to overturn a precedent that has stood for over a century. Good luck with that.

    Blaze, please follow this story. There is going to be some interesting things happening. He was punished by the military, and now he is to be punished for the rest of his life.
    If the light is not shined brightly upon this non-court punishment, he will have his entire life changed.
    BTW, Obama is not a Natural Born Citizen – his father was not an American citizen.

      Everyone needs to keep in mind – Mr Obama released a copy of his Birth Certificate (where real or forged is not for me to decide) AFTER the Lakin court-martial. Before that, nobody had ever seen a long-form “original” copy of his birth certificate and this was one of the key pieces of evidence that Mr. Lakin was requesting to see. So when a member of the Kansas board pops of with “He released his birth certificate – what else do you want him to do” – that is inaccurate. Mr. Obama did not release his birth certificate until AFTER Lt. Lakin’s court-martial hearing.

      @ Riverdog google my screen name. Hawaii often gave birth certificates to people not born in Hawaii. Also keep in mind that Puerto Rico had thousands of fraudulent birth certificates discovered about 5 years ago — so many they had to reissue new BCs for everyone.

    Dr. Lakin was punished by the military, that should have been the end of it.

    I have a feeling that his willingness to dare show a spine regarding his beliefs about Obama’s birth place will haunt him until the day he dies. People like Obama and the ones who follow him in lock-step have very long memories.

    There are still too many unanswered questions about the current President for me not to doubt everything about him and his past.

      He has a court-martial and a dishonorable conduct on his record, no different than a criminal record for a civilan. Are you arguing that criminals should freely be given medical licenses.

      He broke the law and has a debt to pay to society, some States remove the voting rights of convicted felons.

      If Military and Civil law were the same as you state, there would be no need for the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice). The UCMJ voids constitutional rights when an individual takes the oath of service. The Code and its administration is separate and apart from all civil law. There are few comparable chargeable offenses in military law and civil law. Once the period of service has been satisfied, regardless of terms of discharge, the UCMJ has no relevance in any subsequent matters of civil law. Finally, a “Court Martial” is simply a military trial. Your suggestion that a court martial should prevent his licensing is simply ignorance. If that were the case everyone who went to traffic court should be criminalized regardless of the charges or outcome, Leave the thoughtful comments to the grown-ups.

      Okay, I’m going to go slow for you. No criminal court convicted LtCol. Lakin of a felony. A military court sentenced the LtCol. to 6 months in Military Prison. If he had been sentenced to 6 months in state or federal prison the charge would not be considered a felony. The federal government considers a felony to be a sentence of death or a sentence of MORE THAN 1 YEAR. Go back outside and play.

      Hey Better-

      Do you realize that you can lose your medical license in most states for a misdemeanor conviction of any type? That’s right, a DUI, a pot arrest, shoplifting…..any of these things will prevent you from receiving a medical license! This guy was a traitor to his country….refused to serve in a military which he volunteered to serve in! What a coward! He does not deserve to practice medicine!

      “Liberal statements of truth” , a genuine oxymoron. Doctors are investigated by either the Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC) or the Office of Professional Discipline (OPD). Their sole purpose is to determine medical malpractice or violations of published medical procedures. Doctors don’t lose their licenses for civil or criminal misdemeanors. I suspect that smoking pot during a heart transplant might not be a good idea. Smoking pot at the luau wouldn’t get a sniff from the OPMC or OPD regardless of what you think. Furthermore your opinion that the LtCol is somehow a traitor and coward is typical of a liberal tantrum. When there is a shortage of “slant” to support an argument liberals fabricate facts and spew seal-righteous hate. You’ve been playing to much “Worlds of Warcraft” with the “Occupy” folks.

      Sounds like there are no laws against doing brain surgery on someone who’s not even your patient though! THAT PROVES WE NEED THE GOVERNMENT TO PROTECT US! WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO THINK FOR OURSELVES, UNLESS THEY SEND IN THEIR APPROVED SURGEON TO OPERATE ON OUR BRAINS!
