‘Slave House’: Black Conservatives Encounter Liberal Skepticism on 8/28

Videos are popping up around the internet from last Saturday’s rallies in Washington, D.C., a number of them showing conversations and confrontations captured on home video. Here are just a couple that I’ve stumbled across today that show black conservatives taking a real stand in the face of adversity.

In the first video, the videographers of “The Runaway Slave” set out to speak to liberals and other supporters at Rev. Al Sharpton’s “Reclaim the Dream” rally. One brave, outspoken young woman in particular captured considerable crowd attention for confronting fellow African-Americans about their blind support for Democratic causes. When she confronted the crowd about Democrats’ support for abortion and their opposition to school choice, a woman in the crowd stepped forward and accused her of being “in the slave house, cooking for the master.”

“LBJ’s War on Poverty policies broke apart the Black family. Why aren’t they talking about that? That’s why I became a conservative.”

In another video captured Saturday, “tolerant” liberals decry black conservatives at Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally, saying that “Christianity is a white man’s religion.”

    God made people in different colors and races, some tall, some short, some big, some little but he made them all. Do you see the differences or the common bond? It’s just “We the People”, so we can focus on the really important things: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Pray Every Day, One Nation Under God.

    The Lord Bless this woman! It’s comforting to know folks like her council in the inner city… So, the guy thinks a baby ‘may’ grow up to be a dependent of the state? What about all the ones who may have grown up to be doctors or scientists, or astronauts, etc?

    I have a self test…Replace the “BLACK” with the word “WHITE” in front of all the organizations, groups, colleges, boards, scholarships that now include the word “black”…and see if it then becomes a racist sounding title.
    examples:….Black Panthers– becomes: White Panthers
    Congressional Black Caucus– becomes: Congressional White Caucus
    even the NAACP sounds racist as:
    National Association for the Advancement of Colored People– becomes:
    National Association for the Advancement of Caucasian People

    …think of your own….Interesting isn’t it?

    If they don’t sound acceptable with White or Caucasian in the phrase–then why is “Black” in their title okay?
    Is it our conditioning?
    Is it our guilt?
    Is it a history we were taught in school?
    Is it a toll we have been slammed with for so long, that one-way racism is okay but there is no such thing as two way racism?
    Is it people like Al Sharpton shouting or complaining?
    I find this fascinating.
    Hmmmmm.
    I find people like Sharpton and Panther leader as sad, lost souls. Souls dug in and clinging to a dark, lost and hopeless place.

    Reminds me of the people in movie “Pleasantville” who wanted to remain in Black & White and never expand their vision beyond what they knew…they were afraid of all the space & colors in God’s real realm.

      You are 100% correct.

      Sadly even some of our conservative brothers and sisters still use African-American.
      I am 75% Italian and never in my life did I call myself an Italian-America… Nor do I hear anyone
      using their heritage as descriptive in front of American beside the African-American crowd.

      I as many of you, believe man to be created equal… What the leaders in the Black community need to do is push this agenda.. You are NO different, no special names, no services…. NOTHING over and above what any other AMERICAN would receive…

      Especially if you want to be EQUAL!!!

    All of you who were able to attend the ralley I commend you. The young woman in the video has the knowlege and wisdom of someone much older, we should all pray that we can harness the wisdom God has givin us and use it in a peaceable way. One of my favorite quotes is from a old Sioux indian saying “ If we can not relly on the honor of men we grow weak”. I fear that honor is gone in our capitol and we must get it back or we are lost as a people, and nation and what will our children have or our grandchildren what will be our legacy be to them?

    I might have walked away just for the shouting-down. I agree with her, but the shouting does a dis-service to the message. Not saying I could have possibly done any different (I know what it’s like being shouted down by the opposition), just that we need to try to get away from that more often than not.

    it‘s was dismaying how the black crowd would not or could not hear the reality of that young woman’s words and so they mostly just walked away back into their own ignorant worlds to keep voting and repeating their mistakes expecting again the promised better outcome from the Dems. “None so blind as those who will not see” comes to mind watching that.

    Kudos to the young African-American sister who has taken the time to educate herself and not be blinded by the accusations of racism!!!! I too come from the inner city and have individuals close to me that have been on public assistance for GENERATIONS!!! They are no closer to helping themselves out of their situation, because the “system” has enslaved their minds and hearts. The state is always looked at for the way out, instead of using their God given talents to do for themselves. It is about time that the truth be known, and those who would enslave the minds of people be exposed for who they really are, and the scope of their true agenda be exposed. Don’t be afraid to speak the truth, for in so doing, you will help others acquire their true freedom. (You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free).

    Outstanding. I’m with any American who speaks up for the conservative principles which help everyone regardless of race. That’s what all Americans should want. I’m sick of Democrats always dividing us into groups so they can pander to each group. Identity politics only benefits a few (mainly politicians, activists, unions, Democrats) and it’s seldom the people that they say they are helping. We‘re all Americans and what’s good for the nation is good for all Americans.

    I remember seeing the people in the second video, I was about 20 ft away from them when it was happening. I thought it was rude of them to bring signs, when they were highly discouraged from being brought to the event. It’s funny how the guy was saying Christianity is a “white-man’s religion”. What does that even mean and what is it based on? Sure isn’t based off of the Bible, that’s for sure.

    I actually posted my comments above before I had even watched the video of the that incredible young woman putting herself on the line for her beliefs. I only hope I can maintain half of the courage and integrity she has. What she did is the same that is required of all of us; figure out our own personal convictions and share them peacefully with others.

    “What do the top ten cities (over 250,000) with the highest poverty rate have in common? DEMOCRAT MAYORS!!

    Detroit, MI (1st on the poverty rate list) hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1961;
    Buffalo, NY (2nd) hasn’t elected one since 1954;
    Cincinnati , OH (3rd)…since 1984;
    Cleveland , OH (4th)…since 1989;
    Miami , FL (5th) has never had a Republican mayor;
    St. Louis , MO (6th)….since 1949;
    El Paso , TX (7th) has never had a Republican mayor;
    Milwaukee , WI (8th)…since 1908;
    Philadelphia , PA (9th)…since 1952;
    Newark , NJ (10th)…since 1907. ”

      In all fairness, the reason for a Democrat mayor might be because people in poverty tend to lean left. (the “what’s in it for me” syndrome). Its hard to tell which is the cause, and which is the effect. I DO agree that leftist & statist political practices hurt everybody, included the poor, but you can’t prove causation through simple correlation.

The Republicans started this crap and conservatives will vote them out. I liked GW Bush at first but when the Liberals took power he caved like his father before him. I wish it wasn’t so.

      A very good point that I have overlooked is that the liberals in the cities are running the programs that the conservative black lady spoke about. She pointed out how those very leaders were the cause of the break up of black families and how that 90% of black babies are born into homes without the fathers in the home. Then she was careful to point out that it was not the Republicans that was at fault it was their liberal Democrat leaders, and why didn’t they vote them out of office, they are the problem. I enjoyed her on the video very much.

    Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honro Rally honored all Americans. Those who can’t see that dishonor themselves. It is very difficult to imagine that Dr Martin Luther King himself would not have been proud of the crowd that attended. Did not Glenn Beck quote him directly? Paraphrasing, that men should be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. Honestly, as another man, whom I greatly admire, Dennis Prager has said many times… The world is truly upside down. Those accused of racism are the good guys – and those who constantly scream racism often are the racists.

      Marc, You said it perfectly and I’m glad you did because apparently we have to keep repeating the Truth so others can see the difference. We can’t know for sure which rally Dr. King would have attended…however, the Beck rally didn’t focus on color of skin, it focused on content of character. The Sharpton rally didn’t focus on content of character, it focused on color of skin. Think about that, and come to your own conclusion.
