Black Friday Pepper Sprayer Surrenders in LA

LA Black Friday Pepper Sprayer Caught

(The Blaze/AP) The woman accused of wreaking havoc at a California Walmart by showering fellow Black Friday shoppers with pepper spray, surrendered to authorities but was released pending further investigation after she refused to discuss the incident, police told The AP Saturday.

The woman, whose name was not released, is suspected of firing pepper spray into a crowd in order to clear a path to a crate of Xbox video game players that were being unwrapped late Thanksgiving night at a Walmart in the upscale Porter Ranch section of the San Fernando Valley.

A video posted on YouTube may show the incident. It reportedly shows the moments after a woman pepper sprayed shoppers over video games:

The suspect got away in the confusion, and it was not known if she bought one of the Xboxes. Ten people suffered minor injuries from the spray and 10 others sustained cuts and bruises in the ensuing chaos.

“Last night at 8:30 the suspect involved in the pepper spray incident at the Porter Ranch Walmart turned herself in,” police Sgt. Jose Valle said Saturday. She immediately invoked her right against self-incrimination, however, and refused to discuss the incident further.

Police released her pending further investigation.

Valle said investigators still have nearly a dozen witnesses to interview, including several spraying victims. He added it would likely be at least two days before an arrest in the case could be made.

If the woman who surrendered is indeed the person who sprayed the crowd she could face battery charges.

The attack took place about 10:30 p.m., shortly after the Walmart opened its doors for the traditional Black Friday sales that kick off the Christmas shopping season. A crowd of people had gathered to wait for store employees to unwrap the crate of discounted Xboxes.

The incident was one of several across the nation that marred this year’s Black Friday.

In the most serious case, a robber shot a shopper who refused to give up his purchases outside a Walmart in the San Francisco suburb of San Leandro. The victim was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

San Leandro police said the victim and his family were walking to their car around 1:45 a.m. Friday when they were confronted by a group of men who demanded their shopping items. When the family refused, a fight broke out, and one of the robbers pulled a gun and shot the man, said Sgt. Mike Sobek.

      Mock her if you will. Right. Maybe she went a little overboard, but she was after a deal, to get a low price on an item that she wanted. She did what she had to to save a couple of bucks. Yes, she went over the line legally, but her lack of empathy for those she might injure in her pursuit is something Wall Street is toasting tonight. You have to love unregulated Capitalism! The pursuit of wealth is a greater motivation than any of that stuff religion teaches.

      Capitalism is the creation of wealth by people who work hard to create things that people want to buy. Capitalists create jobs. Employment gives people the freedom to buy the things they want and need. Employed people contribute to society by purchasing products and services and paying taxes. The freedom to live as they want makes them feel fulfilled and content. Have you ever seen anyone living off the Government’s “Assistance” who felt fulfilled and content? Communism and Socialism go hand in hand and they are proven failures. The U.S.A. is the place people who live under Communist or Socialist rules move to in order to escape the torment of that kind of life.

      I wish people who claimed to be Socialists or Commies would just do everyone here a favor and move to the country of their choice. I’m sure Russia or Italy would love to have them.

      My question is: Since this was Black Friday, was this a black woman that did this because she figured that Black Friday was a special day that obama made up just for blacks and therefore that justified her actions to herself?

    At least in the end she did the right thing by turning herself in, HAAA! if she could have been mindfull enough before going shopping. this type of thing happens every year on black friday, big surprise, and someone should tell these clueless shoppers that you can find real bargans all year long, not just BF, which is the last retail quarter in the year, and stores are trying to get rid of old outdated stock, make a profit on worthless crap, and make up for losses in 1st 3 quarters of the year. duh!

    I ended my buying of gifts during Christmas years ago. I was tired of this Satanic ritual of running, and bowing to our plastic Chinese idols and spending hard earned money God has entrusted to us to be good stewards to use for his purposes and not to be wasted on stuff we don’t need or plunges us in more debt. Instead I spend double the normal to make sure during the Christmas holiday I have a wide variety of the best food, drink and company possible and could care less if anyone has a problem with it. I remember when I first started doing it people were shocked, but in a matter of minutes they soon forgot once they were enjoying food like they never have before and actually enjoying company they way they should. My Christmas has no stress, filled with fellowship, and honors God. Then you can take a few extra dollars you saved to give to a good organization that is getting God’s word out or is supporting a cause you feel strongly about fighting for.

    Americans are filled with greed because there are so many cool and good things to get out there today compared to the 40s and 50s where you couldn’t even get a TV that was worth a crap… Now they have what ever you want and with nasty people the way they are will do whatever to get it…. Especially from the ages of 40 and under…. That’s about where common sense and morals and values left us…

      I think all of the stores should do away with Black Friday. People obviously are filled with greed, are unable to control themselves and are no better than animals. The stores should just have regular sales throughout the holidays and that’s it. Barbarians!

      And by the way, they should post this woman’s name for all the world to see. Her family must be very proud.

    Why is America so violent? Why do you have the murder rates of Medieval Europe? Why do you think it is OK for fathers like that Texas judge to beat their daughters, and for that cop at UC Davis to spray innocent kids who were sitting down in the face with pepper spray? Why do you think that poor people without health insurance, or unemployed people, deserve their sad fate in the richest, most powerful nation on Earth?

    Don’t you see that this type of coarse and cruel attitudes naturally spill over into this shopper pepper spraying other human beings for the sake of saving a few bucks? She was only doing on a micro level what the corporations do to their employees on a macro level.

    Fight evil that is inside of you first, that hatred against the poor person, the black person, the Muslim, the homosexual. I think your own Jesus told you that whatever you do to the least among you, it is as if you did it unto him.

      This Christmas shopping incident is only a visible symptom of a cancer that has nothing to do with religion or immigration, and everything to do with the cultural attitude of the whole country. The cancer is deep inside: an attitude that it is OK to make a buck any way you can and dam.n the environment, workers’ rights, neighbourhood development, families’ time together, health, safety, etc. The only important thing is to meet the bottom line financially. Violence is accepted as matter of course, both toward innocent people in other countries when they get in the way, and against those one disagrees with inside one’s own country.

      So what do you expect? Every Black Friday there are such incidents. Cancer symptoms.

      Life has always been a valley of tears with intermittent sunshine. We’re here for the long haul, and nothing is ending, and these are not the ‘last days.’ People in the 14th century had it much worse during the Black Plague when 30% of the population of Europe died, and they also thought the world was ending, but it did not, so alas we must continue to soldier on and through.

      You need to go and check out the UC Berkly video, he clearly asked the people to move and warned them what would happen if they didn’t move. They didn’t move and he did what he said he would do. The crazy occupiers are not peaceful folks, too many rapes and other crimes, catch a clue….

      Spray innocent kids!! OMG. This is what is wrong with America. No consequences. They were told to move and they refused, and did not obey the law, so they got sprayed. If I were the Cop I would have done the same thing. If you have a child who disobeys you and you told them there would be consequences, would you feel sorry for the child if you carried out the consequences? I am so sick of everyone getting away with everything and playing the victim if they get caught. The Bible says in the last days, good will be called evil, and evil will be called good.

    I understand the rights of a corporation opening their doors to an event like Black Friday. BUT, I would think the possibility of any lawsuit coming from anyone being assualted would make opening their doors a negative to their possible revenue. I think a business should be able to decide for itself if it wants to open itself to the possible lawsuit, but this kind of behavior on the part of the businesses customers should be looked at by the business and maybe next year the business should not participate in Black Friday. Just my opinion. (BTW, on Black Friday the only shopping I did was in our rural country grocery. I bought a 30 pack of beer. Call me a redneck. I don’t care. At least I didn’t get pepper sprayed of shot!)

      The policeman at UC Davis was justified. The protestors were warned…SEVERAL times to move, or suffer the consequences. As a former Davis grad, I applaude the policemen in their efforts to clean the smegma off the walkways near the Quad.

      I can’t imagine why she did that. For all we know people were trying to rip her gift out of her hands and she felt threatened. (At least that would be my story.) Let the cops try to find you.       Actually “the whole state really does not suck” although it is awash in all kinds of issues not the least being Jerry Brown once again leading it into yet another sewer. Irvine and Orange County in general is well run, low crime (with the exception of Santa Ana) and is largely Conservative. The Orange County Register is one of the few Conservative newspapers in existence.
