Black Robe Regiment Reflections on 8/28

On an unusually fair-weathered Summer Saturday in Washington, D.C., conservative radio and television host Glenn Beck reignited an historic movement to help restore the Founders’ original vision of America — a religious and moral nation.
Standing among monuments dedicated to some of the country’s most influential figures, 240 clergymen and women of various faiths locked arms to show solidarity behind Beck’s message, symbolically representing the new Black Robe Regiment — a grassroots movement of clergy from across the country working to restore honor from the pulpit.
Since the August 28 rally, a number of Regiment clergy have reflected on the rally and their experiences. Rabbi Aryeh Spero, writing for Human Events, recollects the warm welcome he received. ”The crowd cheered and applauded my Yarmulke. They yelled out: ‘Shalom. Shabbat Shalom. We love Israel. Thank you for coming…’ The affection and warmth of the crowd was palpable and undeniable.”
Rabbi Spero dismisses accusations of bigotry and suggests faithful Americans “no longer should be cowed” by liberal accusations of intolerance.
Jim Garlow, senior pastor of Skyline Wesleyan Church in San Diego, took to CNN’s religion blog and commended the rally’s call to decency. “Sometime around 1960, morals jumped off the bridge without first attaching the bungee cord,” he writes.
“In macro tones, the tragedy in our culture is the incapacity of many to grasp that our current tensions are no longer merely ‘right vs. left‘ but more seriously ’right vs. wrong.’”
In addition to Saturday’s 8/28 rally, Beck and Wallbuilders founder/history guru David Barton welcomed numerous clergy members Friday evening at the Kennedy Center. Billed as “an evening of prayer and spiritual renewal,“ the ”Divine Destiny” event inspired Dudley C. Rutherford, senior pastor of the 10,000-member Shepherd of the Hills Church in Porter Ranch, Calif.
“Not once, did I hear the word Democrat or Republican. Not once, did I hear the name of our current or former President. It was simply a call to our Nation to turn back to God. … I’m telling you tonight was like the beginning of a Revival for our country…” Rutherford wrote.
The speeches given at the“Restoring Honor” rally of August 28 or subsequent gatherings will not long be remembered. But what’s clear is that the message of moral and spiritual renewal has resonated with a significant portion of the country — those Americans who, with God’s guidance, are looking to restore the “city upon a hill.”
And in the spirit and tradition of their rebellious forebears, today’s Black Robe Regiment is leading the way.

Obama is not just a liar, he’s refused to pledge allegiance to the American flag; he’s told the Muslim world we are no longer a Christian nation (which we predominately are!); he’s brought in a cadre of socialists and communists; and he’s keeping true to what he told his college roommate, Wayne Allyn Root, that he wanted to Overwhelm The System (google it and read his article).
Most American’s are nice people with little experience among the disenfranchised, so they can’t believe someone would purposely dismantle America to rebuild it along Marxist lines… BELIEVE IT!!!

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 11:39pmYes, the Spirit of God fell on the people at the Restoring Honor Event, similar to what happened on the day Of Pentacost. The Spirit was in great abundance. Love and peace was there.
I found it very interesting as a Mormon to see God actually demonstrate His support of what was starting in a very visible and physical way. In Mormon history, God has often used birds to show His support and mercy. Most people know about the event where Seagulls came at saved the people in Utah by eating the destroying crickets. When the Mormons were being forced out of Nauvoo, IL to move to the Rocky Mountains, it was in Feb where tempertures were often well below zero. Many children and women were starving. Allthey had was left behind. Only want could be placed in a covered wagon could be taken. God sent last days “manna” from Heaven in the form of eatable birds.
I give this background to show the religious significance of the V shaped flight of birds that flew from the Washington Monument straight over the reflecting pool and then turned as they approached the Lincoln Memorial. What a sight!!!!! It was literally a FLY OVER the event which IMO showed to all with spiritual eyes to see that God was blessing the event through some of His creatures. No fly over of airplavnes would match this..

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 11:54pmI saw the “fly over”! We were walking down the hill from the Washington Monument towards the reflecting pool (which, by the way, we would never even get close to, due to the crowd of 150 people–haha!). The geese were loudly squawking and I looked up and laughed. I hollered out to my son and his family, “Hey, it’s a fly-over!” (God has a rich sense of humor!)

Call it Awakening. Call it Revival. But one thing is for certain — this will spread faster than at any other time in history. Technology will help the message go out like a wave. I recommend people who’ve never tried social media to learn the courteous and Christian way to impact cyberspace.

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 10:00pmI was a sort of accidental tourist at the Restoring Honor event, seated in the “Omega Section” where the Black Robe Regiment sat. I was the guest of a member of the regiment. It was wonderful to meet many of these men and women of God, and even have my disabled daughter prayed for by them as well. (I am who Dr. C.L. Jackson is pointing at in picture 19 of the first article in the Blaze on the Regiment. My picture of Dr.s Jose Pascua, John Haggee and C.L. Jackson, three mighty men of God is much better than picture 19.) As a total outsider deep on the inside, I was blessed with a unique view and perspective of this new awakening for America. There were no politics in this event, not from the participants at least. From the inside, it was exactly what Glenn Beck billed it to be, a call to restore our nation’s founding priciples and honor. The MSM will never admit what Restoring Honor was about – God and America, much less what it wasn’t about – race or politics. God Bless all the members of the Black Robe Regiment, and Glenn Beck for his vision with ergard to the event.

We really need to support ALL of them. ..Denomination doesn’t matter… I have come to realize that for a long time most of us have been taught to be skeptical of the differences in the various religious denominations. No more! …It’s about coming together for the common purpose of restoring God in this country. ..Who cares if I go to church on Sunday and you on Saturday or if you eat this meat and I don’t eat that meat or if you believe in water immersion and I believe in sprinkling water….IT DOESN’T MATTER! ….Most of those differences will be set right by the Lord of Hosts Himself… ..someday. Is this actually an opinion, or is it a factual statement? I ask this question on two fronts: Did Glenn really reignite a historic movement? Did the founding fathers really attempt to institutionalize religion and morality in setting out the blueprint for a new nation?
I thought Glenn said he was going to hire “real journalists” to do the news for this site. This really looks like an opinion piece, not news reporting. Apparently we are just going to get more of the “fair and balanced” drivel that Fox pretends is news.

Posted on September 9, 2010 at 10:05pm“Did the founding fathers really attempt to institutionalize religion and morality in setting out the blueprint for a new nation? ”
Yes & No, the founding fathers aknowledged the importance of God in everyday life, but did not want any particular religion to be a state religion. The unmentioned concern (& I haven’t herd Mr. Beck talk about this) is the fact that if there was a “single” state religion it would set up a secondary political power over & above “The People”. That was the concern with the election of JFK.
Remember the founder put firm reliance on “Divine Providence” not Jehovah, or Allah, or any other “named diety”. Divine Providence can encompass “intelligent design”, or Tuatha De Dannan, or Odin (I actuallly met someone who worhips Odin), etc.
This is why the call is to find the “higher power” within each of us, & not a call to be a Baptist, Catholic, Jew, Sunni, etc.

Ah. Well everything and anything is an “Opinion Piece” if you do not agree on what is being reported. Even those pesky little Facts can be explained away or ignored (Revisionist History anyone?).
Not that I agree with everything Fox News says. I mean I am a Conservative and can Still see the slant. Fair and Balanced they are not (though I am much less fond of says MSNBC.). On the other hand their later slogan is worth considering. “We Report: You Decide”
Use that mass that keeps your head from imploding and Think. Look at the reported news and if in doubt check what the other sources are reporting and Decide. The truth is out there and oddly enough, yes the truth can set you free.

As a CBF Baptist I have been a strong critic of theological positions of my more conservative brothers and sisters in Christ. There are points off Biblical interpretation that we will probably always disagree upon. Nevertheless, having experienced the spirit of God present on the mall on 8-28 I am convinced that none of us has every detail perfect on this side of the veil that is to be lifted but as Glenn Beck pointed out, there are certain moral and ethical points that we can agree upon. I realized that indeed there was only one thing that could save this country and it was our country turning back to God. That is why I was so excited that Glenn changed the direction of the 8/28 gathering. I knew it was a move of God. It’s a spiritual awakening. Thousands of people getting the same message and drawing the same conclusion is a sovereign move of God. I am not a Mormon and disagree with them on certain points, but I agree with Glenn that if we don’t come together to defend our right to worship God, none of us will be able to worship as we choose. I have listened intently to what Glenn says and have not heard anything Biblically I can disagree with.
We as a nation need to continue to support Israel. As a Christian, I went to Israel for 5 years with the DOD working on the F-16 program. My oldest son was born there. If we don’t support Israel, we will seal the fate of this nation. I was so glad to see Rabbi’s and all the other faiths there.
