The National Football League’s costliest venue temporarily went black Sunday evening, blanketing thee stadium in darkness and briefly delaying football match-up between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys.
Reports from the $1.6 billion New Meadlowlands Stadium — which just opened earlier this year — indicated a blown transformer in the third quarter. During the initial outage, a few banks of lights went out, but just a few minutes later, the entire stadium went dark.
Power was completely out for a few seconds, leading to a surreal experience for both players and fans, neither of whom knew what was going on. According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, there were fights in the stands during the outage. When the lights slowly began turning back on, the public address announcer informed fans of the problem and asked them to stay calm. …
Even after power was restored, there were remnants of the outage. The referee‘s microphone did not work and FOX’s on-screen graphics were temporarily disabled. There was no on-screen overlay of the score, leaving viewers confused as to the score and time remaining. (What did we ever do back in the dark ages before the presence of the score?)
The total game delay lasted for just 12 minutes. At press time, the Cowboys led the Giants 33-20 with just over five minutes left to play.

cowboys attendance is down, keep people there longer to spend more money. cowboy fans wouldn’t leave.
It’s all about money and the 1.1 billion dollars pricetag for the new venue.
Just my opinion.

Posted on November 15, 2010 at 9:33amWhile many folks laugh at the Amish as being “backward”, I applaud and appreciate them. I live near a large Amish area and conduct business with them weekly. It’s nice to go into a store and have an eight year old count out perfect change for you, perfect the first time. Then, I’ll drive through a fast food joint and confound the high schooler with a computer to calculate change for them by adding two or three pennies to the bill I give them so I get a nickel or a dime in change instead of 3 more pennies. They look at you like a dog with a new water dish and then complain that their register will be off and the manager will get mad. Yep, technology has made us so much smarter than those backward religious zealots. On the bright side, I guess ‘normal’ kids know so much more about contraception, and how to be sensitive to gays than those pesky Amish folk. I’ve learned so much from my associations with a few of the Amish people. God bless them.

Posted on November 14, 2010 at 8:22pmOne transformer took out the thing. Sounds like some contractor cut a few corners building it. Probably needed the money to pay off the unions just to get the stadium built at all.

Posted on November 14, 2010 at 8:15pmI find it pretty amusing if ya ask me…..Sitting here trying to put a political tune to this mishap so I came up with this one. Some UNION employee got his pay stub today while monoriting the main electrical control board at the stadium. while glancing over his pay stubb and the deductions he realized his UNION DUES went up, thanks in part of the New Jersey teachers unions and there HI Priced School officials. LMAO..ole well. Who in the hell watches the No Fun League (NFL) anymore? Overpayed players, long hair gorillas, PC football rules. “Oh please dont hit me”.

Posted on November 14, 2010 at 8:09pmNFL Not for long. When the players go on strike next year, lets keep the lights out for a while. And keep them out til you can take a family of four to a game for $50.00. And sit at the fifty…..

Posted on November 14, 2010 at 8:11pmNo, just the taste of what is to come when Mr Obama crams down our throat the tax and cap rip off legislation via congress, EPA, or Executive Order in some shape or form. Power outages will just be a part of what we the citizens of America will suffer.
