Blaze Exclusive Video: Rick Perry and Donald Trump Spotted Together in NYC — But Why?

Rick Perry Spotted With Donald Trump in New York City

Is Donald Trump getting ready to endorse Rick Perry for president? Could a Perry/Trump pizza summit be just around the corner? Is Rick Perry courting Trump as a VP candidate?

Those are just some of the questions we’re asking after we spotted Perry and Trump walking out of Trump Towers early Wednesday evening in New York City. It’s unclear why the two were together and neither one (not surprisingly) responded to on-site questions about their meeting. But what is clear is that they were there — and so were we:

Here’s a roundup of what some are saying about the meeting.

CBS:

The business mogul-turned-reality TV star has a 4 p.m. ET meeting with Perry at Trump Tower in New York City, Trump’s spokesman, Michael Cohen, confirmed to CBS News/National Journal. According to Cohen, Perry requested the meeting.

“It’s obviously about the presidency,” Cohen said. “Everyone wants Mr. Trump’s support.“ A Perry spokesman confirmed that the Texas governor ”is having dinner with the Donald” and said the meeting would focus on jobs.

After briefly considering — and then dropping — plans to run himself for the GOP presidential nomination, Trump has met with several of the party’s White House contenders or potential contenders, including Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., and Sarah Palin. In May, Trump treated Palin to pizza at La Famiglia in Times Square. Cohen said this time around, Trump will take Perry to a higher-end restaurant on Central Park West.

One twist to the story: Cohen said that while Trump is reviewing his endorsement options, “he’s still not out of” the race himself.

Washington Post:

But after Perry meets with Trump at his Trump Tower abode on Fifth Avenue, the two will head out to dinner. Not to of-the-people La Famiglia Pizzeria as Trump did with Sarah Palin in June. Nope. The Republican Party powerhouses will roll across town to the Trump International Hotel and Tower on Columbus Circle for dinner at ultra-chic Jean Georges.

That dining detail was dropped by Trump when we chatted Tuesday. I gave the reality-television star a call to discuss Monday’s Republican presidential candidates debate in Florida. “Very interesting,” is how Trump described the Tea Party debate. He also noted that some of the candidates exhibited “a lot of anxiety.” He was no doubt alluding to candidates struggling to break out of the shadow of Perry and Mitt Romney.

New York Post:

The 2012 frontrunner was in the Big Apple for fundraisers as well as a high-profile meeting with the publicity-seeking host of “The Apprentice.”

Trump briefly flirted with the idea of running for the GOP nomination earlier this year, hammering President Barack Obama on charges that he may have not been born in the country, before bowing out.

“I think he’s a very impressive guy,” Trump said of Perry in a recent interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. “I think he’s very ready. He’s been governor of Texas for a long time. Texas has done very well … He’s a tough guy. He’s a smart guy.”

CBS News reported that the meeting took place at Trump Tower in New York City at the request of Perry.

What’s your guess?

Once again, Perry is exposed by association. He worked for Al Gore, praised Hillary health care. Now it is Trump who donated to democratic Chicago mayor in order to get a casino permit.

The republican party (as a wing of the big government one party system – The Establishment) is really scared of Ron Paul. Because under Ron Paul there will be no endless wars to appease Pentagon, monopolies and trade unions at Boeing, no inflation and bail outs to monopolies, no help money to foreign banks, no borrowing from China, no affirmative action.

Rumors are Perry wants to have Palin as VP to hide his RINO record.

@ConservativeCharlie, Only people around Obama worry about their job. Obama himself does not. As a former CIA clerk, Obama has completed the mission the establishment has assigned him – continue with wars, keep torture in place, keep bailing out of monopolies. Now Establishments know Obama is finished (no one can be re-elected with such unemployment.) Therefore, the establishment’s secret plan is Perry – more of the same of Bush/Obama.

Perry said the contribution was just $5,000 and said: “And if you’re saying I can be bought for five thousand — I’m offended.” But the 2006 contribution was actually $6,000.

And there’s more. The watchdog group Texans for Public Justice says that over the past five years when Perry was raising money for the Republican Governors Association Merck gave the RGA $377,500.

The total? A shade over $400,000, about 80 times more than what Perry said.

      Perry’s auditioning for:

      1) Chief Comedian (his smirks, roll of the eyes, bobbling head, cheshire grins, condescending pats on the back)
      2) Top Tuff Talker (oh, and the shoot the gun in the air cowboy!)
      3) Father “I Know Best about what your young daughter’s need” (while ignoring the conservative legislature…unlike his recent “apology”)
      4) Chief Crony in the WH (check out the recent discovery that his $5K was in reality waaaaaaaaaay more than that. OH! When will the Blaze publish THAT truth????!! Remember, truth has no agenda.)
      5) Preacher in Chief (Yes, he’s done several things pandering for that position! Remember in the last election when people lamely thought Obama was the “messiah” the country looking for? NOW, the right side of the spectrum thinking Perry is that for them! I, however, see the hypocrisy in that when his charitable contributions in the past show less than a “tithe”!)
      6) Aide to re-elect Obama. (Yes, IF followers of Beck, Fox, Levin, Limbaugh blindly follow them and Perry is the GOP nominee……..all of the skeletons will be pulled out and be endless. The focus will be on PERRY and not Obama’s horrendous record!)

So, if there are honest, sincere people on this site, hopefully they will consider the danger of electing someone whose mouth and past will give us another 4 years of Obama!

But why select a RINO if we have a true conservative – Ron Paul?

Bush=Obama=Perry – they all work for the establishment and will break their promises as soon as they are in office. People should live in reality, not in a dream. It is not only 3 years of Obama that made USA bankrupt, it is the whole anti-capitalist and anti-freemarket policies that BOTH neo-cons and progressives were pushing for decades. Only Ron Paul can start reversing this.

That was my response. I have to wonder about these people who are for one candidate, and try to smear all the others, 1. if they’re liberal trolls trying to get the Repubs to fight amongst themselves or 2. what they‘ll do when they’re “guy” doesn’t win the nomination. Will they vote for Obama? Will they abstain from voting (which is the same as voting for Obama) and sulk because their guy didn’t get the nomination?

Anyone who supported Al Gore as a campaign manager is not a conservative in his heart. No conservative could or would stand for supporting a liberal, corrupt democratic politician like Gore, let alone be his campaign manager. Perry is a wolf in sheep’s clothing and doing what any good liberal does. Lie as the means to an end. At best Perry is a conservative of convenience. It is easier to get elected pretending to be a conservative than running consistent to his true liberal character. Like Obama, he is pretending to be something he is not in order to get elected. We need to see through that and move on to a real conservative. Rick Santorum comes to mind. Too bad everyone thinks he has no charisma. Vote true character, not propaganda hype.

Maybe you should back up your statements with evidence rather than making baseless surmises. Fact is, he switched parties over 20 years ago. Not long enough for you? Know what — when I was younger I had liberal ideas, but then I grew up and am now a right wing conservative. Happens to a lot of people. Ronald Reagan switched parties. Conservatives almost worship him. Let me tell you what you need to vote — vote for the one who can defeat Barack Obama. ANY of the current candidates are preferable to him, except for Huntsman.

MANY people are more liberal in their younger life, then, as they mature and accept responsibility, they become conservative. I believe Perry took this path as well.

By the way, campaign manager is a HIRED HAND. Just look at Dick Morris, who was a CLINTON advisor ! He’s pretty darned conservative, and Clinton was NOT, though he did manage to move toward the center after midterm elections.

Don‘t think he’s a fan of him & the feeling is mutual.
Frankly, I wouldn’t want Trump as President but I do like his straight talk, “no fear” attitude and his advice and knowledge about how to handle China, other countries. I don’t know where you get your info, but Texas is the best state in the union if you want a job. A real job I mean. Not one where you pay a union. Don’t be hateing, you can have some Perry too.

Actually Perry would be just as bad as Obama,so I would rather the Dems take full credit for the decline and downfall of the U.S.A.. Perry and his animal science degree(G.P.A. 2.5) should stay in Texas and let the adults in the room like Santorum,Bachman,Romney,Gingrich and Cain handle the recovery from Odumbo’s failed policies. I personally would never cast a vote for Perry due to his unending support and love for illegal immigrants over U.S. Citizens. I am not alone with that view!

I think Trump is going to vet the candidates his own way to be able to make a decision if he is going to jump in or if one of the contenders has his approval. You can bet that his questions aren’t any of the cream puff questions we see on TV, nor will he accept one of the sound bite answers. He will get answers on China, trade balance, international policies, currency and debt.

When Trump does endorse one of them, that will probably show the rest of us something . . . and I will be paying attention.

RINO Trump endorsing RINO Perry won’t influence me one bit. As far as I’m concerned, Perry should stay in Texas with his beloved illegal aliens.

And while RINO Perry is at it, he should tell his Texas oil and gas companies to quit bring their illegal aliens to PA and NY for the Marcellus drilling. We don’t want their trash.

It‘s terrible isn’t it; illegal imports taking what jobs there are, and Unions running jobs overseas as fast as they can. Where is the real working man come out in this?

I completely agree. I will not vote for a candidate like Perry who places the welfare of illegal immigrants above the welfare of U.S. Citizens! I do not care if he is the nominee running against Obama. Perry is a F-ing moron just ask the middle class type people in Texas who do not hang out with billionaires like Trump!

So true. Every GOP candidate is going to need every dollar he/she can muster. When you are running against a man that has an unlimited supply of taxpayer money then the road is always going to be tough.

I wonder what deals Trump will work out with Perry and how much Trump will gain $ wise with this relationship? After all we know Perry can be bought unlike Romney who already has earned his 100′s of millions of dollars with his brains not his car salesman promises.

They all want and need Mr. Trumps money! I hate to say that but it’s the truth. Obama only knows how to campaign and with the 1,000,000,000.00 he plans to raise the GOP candidate better have a hefty pocket as well.

It’s a said state we are in today!

If you don’t see WHY then you are blind: 2 MODERATES. In other news:

President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign released the names of 244 bundlers, which the campaign dubbed “volunteer fund-raisers,” who collected at least $50,000 each on behalf of the president’s re-election.

Together, these individuals steered at least $34.95 million into the coffers of Obama’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee, according to a Center for Responsive Politics tally. That represents about 40 percent of the $86 million haul the Obama campaign manager Jim Messina announced earlier this week for money coming into Obama’s re-election campaign and the joint fund-raising committee set up to benefit both Obama and the DNC.

The only identifying information disclosed for the bundlers was their city and state of residence, as well as the amount each of them raised.

Want to know which Michael Smith of Los Angeles, for instance, is raising money on the president’s behalf? Good luck. The campaign provided no further clues, such as Zip code, employer or occupation, to discern which Michael Smith it was among the scores who live in L.A. — although maybe it’s the one Obama appointed to the Committee for the Preservation of the White House last year.
