Blind Love? Meet the Blind Pug That Has Her Own Seeing-Eye Dog

It may make you laugh, and may even jerk some tears coming out out of the holiday season, but this pair of pugs is sure to warm you heart. White-coated blind pug Elly was found by U.K. rescuers who have noticed that she relies on dark-coated pal Franky, who willingly leads her everywhere from walks to water to finding food.

While the two 4-year-old pugs make a cute pair, the BBC reports that their special relationship poses a challenge for rescue workers trying to find a home for the pair. Elly and Franky were found in poor conditions and have since been nursed back to health by vets who hope someone will come forward prepared to house them together.

“Franky is extremely boisterous and playful and Elly is very affectionate and cuddly,” RSPCA Manager in New Port, South Wales, Elaine Buchan tells The Daily Mail. “He looks out for her and provides support while guiding her on walks or to food or water.”

Both dogs need operations before they can be adopted, but vets are confident that the dogs will be a delight to anyone willing to take them in.

If a pair like that doesn’t make you smile, what will?

You know what they say: Love is blind.

This kind of story always brings such a glow into my heart. I saw a story like this about two great danes. And I’ve seen similar stories cross-species. But, let’s not blame only the Muslim religion for our misconception about whether animals have souls. My grandmother, a supposedly very Christian woman, told me that animals do not have souls and did not go to heaven when they died. I didn’t understand how she could say that, and at a very young age I decided I was going to try to be the very best person I could be so I could go to their heaven. When I cross the rainbow bridge, I hope I’ll be greeted by all the four-legged friends I’ve encountered.

Beyond adorable – what a sweet story! Each dog looks like the article’s description of them!

My mom had a beloved black pug for 18 years. He was devoted to her – a great pet!

According to Muslims, dogs are unclean and filthy. Yet we can clearly see here the hand of God. Therefore Allah CANNOT be God.

Pugs are true characters! As long as you can tolerate all the sneezing, snorting & snoring they’re great!!! I really hope they find a good home.

Who said that people were smarter than all other animals on this planet? Even dogs know to follow God’s laws that call for us to help others in need.

What a heart warming story. Among Muslim community dogs are considered “unholy”, “dirty” and shouldn’t be touched or kept as pets, forget “companions”. I personally love dogs, may be they can learn a message of kind heartedness rather than being involved in hatred and wanting to kill innocent human beings all the time. God bless America, the land of the free, home of the brave.

You are right. Wonderful story. Be not dismayed though you are a veteran and very close to my heart. You should always smile when you get up in the morning and when you go to bed at night remembering you served America well. I respect you and pray you will find a happy ending. You might be the right match for these two wonderful pugs … Think about it.

Had a pug my grandpa rescued several years ago named “Bully.” He was a delight. So was my grandfather, because he told my kids when he gave him to us that Bully got his flat, smushed nose because he didn’t see well and ran into a wall. The kids believed him, for about 2 seconds. LOL! My grandpa was a character. This is such a heartwarming story about these 2 dogs. I know they’ll find a good home.

When I was in the 7th grade, my biology teacher instructed the class animals only act on instinct.
      That was 38 years ago.

Seeing eye dog leading around a dog tells me sometimes our little fellows have more in their little heads then Mrs Lee realized.

If I lived in England, I’d take them. I‘d bet now that it’s made the news, they’ll have lots of offers. I already have a terrier mix that sheds horribly. My expensive (Filter Queen) vac wouldn’t get it out of the carpet. It took an Orek found in the dumpster to do the trick.

I had a blind kitten for nearly 17 years. She was born on my bathroom floor. First visit to the vet the techs tiptoed around me until I said, “Yes, vaccinate the blind one too. Nothing wrong with her, just took a couple of days longer to remember where the cat pan was.”

Never let out of doors. She was an excellent cat. Took 10 years to discover bed pillows, then spent the rest of her life sleeping beside my head on her pillow.

The light Pug is “fawn” in color (tan with black points), and the other is a black Pug. Pugs are a lot of fun, but a “big dog in a small package.” They could be a lot of fun for someone in Great Britian. My first dog was a Pug!

@ Krazy– I would be worried, except that the F-22 has made the F-15 obsolete. A single F-22 can take out EIGHT F-15′s. Saudi Arabia, however, could use those F-15′s to secure their skies against Iran, since no other country in the Middle East has Air Superiority to match that of the F-15.

I like the fact that The Blaze does stories like these dogs. It keeps the website from being yet another depressing political blog. We already have plenty of those, thanks.
