First, The Blaze reported on a fish with just one eye — the result of a rare genetic mutation. Well, here’s the exact opposite: a fish with a mutant third eye believed to have been caused by radiation from a nearby nuclear power plant.
Just as The Simpsons showed alluded to back in the 1990s, nuclear power plants can result in some odd mutations to wildlife, like Blinky the three-eyed orange fish.
Fishermen in Córdoba, Argentina, realed in this wolf fish not immediately noticing the third eye, according to Infobae (translated by Google translate):
“We were fishing and we got the surprise of getting this rare specimen. As it was dark at that time we did not notice, but then you looked at him with a flashlight and saw that he had a third eye,” said Julian Zmutt, one of the fishermen.
The fish was found a reservoir where the nuclear power plant reportedly pumps its hot water. The men have kept the fish in the freezer so it can be analyzed but are reported as hoping to have it embalmed.

Posted on October 31, 2011 at 6:51amif it is real and they can identify the gene that codes for an eye growing like that, then the mutation could help the blind see….or make the sea blind…not sure.

Posted on October 29, 2011 at 2:25amSeriously? This is a hoax.
If the water from the nuclear plant was hot enough to mutate fish, all the fish would have died a long time ago, as well as most of the rest of the life in the area. This is anti-science nonsense.

Posted on October 29, 2011 at 9:07amActually, the mutation could happen over prolonged lower level exposure being concentrated in the eggs of the fish. Radiation kills cancer cells, what makes you think it can’t alter dna of an embryo, fish, human, bird, etc…?

Because of what you just said “It KILLS cancer”, not mutates it and make it weirder.
This coming from “Gumbercules” a mutation of Hercules & Gumby. :)

I wouldn’t eat this thing if you paid me a million bucks.
There’s not enough lemon pepper to mask the radiation for me. LOL
I’ll stick with my Sword Fish & Haddock off Cape Cod, Thank You very Much !
