What is it these days with people using blogs and social media platforms to threaten politicians?

First, it was a bizarre death threat against President Obama submitted through the White House web site. Now, it’s a blogger who blogged a bizarrely violent message about Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman.

According to sources, Dmitry Dyatlov, a 23-year-old from Philadelphia, described the politician as “one Jew, who we absolutely must shoot in the face (many times), ASAP.” Gawker has more:

In the incoherent post—which was apparently about Rammstein concerts?—that caught the FBI’s attention, Dyatlov outlined three reasons to shoot Lieberman in the face:

After the man stopped showing up to work, a coworker called police to let them know about the blog post. It was then that the FBI, once alerted, took action and arrested him. MSNBC continues:

Special Agents went to the apartment of Dmitry Dyatlov, 23, Aug 2, after being alerted by the U.S. Capitol Police of a blog Dyatlov had posted a day earlier, threatening to murder Lieberman, according to court documents. [...]

Dyatlov admitted to writing the blog to the FBI agents that showed up at his Philadelphia apartment, according to Special Agent Steve McQueen. When asked what his issue with Lieberman was, Dyatlov replied he hated him, court documents stated. Dyatlov told the agents he had no plans to carry out the threat, but did not care if someone else killed Lieberman, McQueen said.

Bail has been set at $50,000 for the young man, who very interestingly works as an information technology consultant. As a result of his loosey-goosey blogging, he will be confined to his apartment and his computer activity will be monitored for the time being.

Alert: Making online threats to politicians is a) wrong and b) unhinged and c) it will likely land you in the slammer. That is all.

    Dyatlov is very disturbed. It is a good thing that the FBI arrested him. I think freedom of speech is good , but this an abuse of that freedom. He is calling for a man to be murdered. That is as bad as murdering Sen. Lieberman himself.

    Anti-Semitic Threat? I don’t get it. None of the three reasons had anything to do with the fact he’s a Jew. I‘m a conservative and I wouldn’t shoot a person in the face for the three reasons he gave.

    Although I do think Senator Lieberman is a very Liberal, very old, extremely worn person out and I really believe he should retire I don’t think he is a bad person by nature. I envision he and Senator McCain retiring together and sharing their past until they both die of natural causes.

      When actor Alex Bauldwin said this about Congressmen Henry Hyde on national TV, nothing was done. Bauldwin threatened to kill Henry Hyde and his whole family over abortion yet nothing was done about this.

      I don’t defend what Alec Baldwin said, but there are a few obvious differences that make his statements not a credible threat – we know that they were said by Alec Baldwin as opposed to an anonymous unknown writer, he started his rant with the phrase “If we were in another country” putting it in the purely hypothetical realm rather than a call to action, and he talked about a mob stoning Mr. Hyde to death as opposed to someone shooting him in the face which is something that could actually happen.

      Well Affinity – you might have a small point over the singular comment likely not being anti-Semitic – but unless you live in a closet and come out for 15 minutes a day to eat, poop and blog; you are not paying attention to the evil in the world around us. The Norweigins blame the Jews for the nutty shooter, several countries are blaming Jews for their countries’ economic crisis. There was 8X the anti-Semitic acts over anti-Islam acts as repported in the FBI Uniform crime report last year…that’s averge. That dirt bad negree former congresswoman who just got back from Iran and lybia years ago blamed the Jews for AIDS and keeping the black man down. Her stupid pappy blamed the Jews for her election defeat. Al Sharpton and Jesse jackson blamed the Jews for everything bad about America’s treatment of the blacks.       @Tech ……I don’t understand the position of the so called Jews in America. They do not stand up for Israel which blows my mind, and I believe you are right about the media. I have checked out the federal reserve, and well, you were right again. However, I do believe that the Bible says that not every one who is born of Jewish decent, is actually a Jew. Look at George Soros, he was born a Jew, but I beleive he changed his name, something to do with helping the germans, and the camps at auswich. Soros is a devout atheist.       Alvin691: Sorry Alvin I don’t remember exactly what I wrote and it appears that it must have been something so offensive and over the top that the Blaze Nazis had to take down before someone may have read it and died immediately with a heart attack. I must have questioned the Jewish Supremacy in America?

      Regardless you can bet that I would have never advocated violence or killing anyone unlike what I’ve seen repeatedly and often from many on the Blaze when the topic of Islam comes up.. But that‘s ok I’m an American and I for one believe in the 1st amendment of our Constitution. It’s unfortunate that a considerable number of those who claim to be Patriots on and with the Blaze do not. Maybe others will be begin to see the hypocrisy and simply begin to ask why. Why can we discuss killing so many Muslims including their women and children but if one even questions Jewish Supremacy in America it must be hidden from everyone?

      I simply believe that this is just one more piece of evidence that confirms that we do live under a ____ _____ Jewish Apartheid.

    Listen, the core of the matter here is the man made a legitimate threat that had to be at least taken into investigation; and since his arrest for it, probably will face charges for threats upon a member of the Congress. No matter the outlook or political side a person takes, no one should use threats of physical violence or make calls for physical violence to be used — impeachment or recall is the set way to do such.

      Legitimate threat? A threat is a form of intimidation, if this mental 13-year-old did not actually say, “I am going to shoot you in the face” to Lieberman then it is not a threat. If he did not plot the details of a shooting attempt, he is not a conspirator. There is no crime here, only phony “thought crimes.”

      If we are going to become a society that penalizes thought and speech, let me be the first to recommend a misdemeanor fine for your strange kittycat fetish pictures. Definitely a sign of derangement. See how that works? Not nice to judge others words and thoughts.

      Butler180 I resent being called a bigot. You might try reading my post again. I am a supporter of Israel, I do not support Islam. God says that those cusing Israel will be cursed, and those blessing Israel will be blessed. There are many Jews who are Godly people. Many do not believe in Jesus yet because the full number of Gentiles have not come in…from all faiths. But after that happens, Jesus will pour out His Spirit of Grace upon the nation of Isarel and their eyes will be opened. They are His chosen people first. I was merely stating that a lot of the ones here and in power do not stand for their own people. And many of them are not Godly. There is a difference. I would much prefer them in power over Islam. Jews have always been blessed more richly than the rest, I do not dispise them for that. I might be classified as a protestant, but I am a grafted in branch of the true vine..which is spiritual Israel.

      Blessed? Is that what they are calling these days? No they have robbed America freaking blind just like they have done to every other Nation they have ever resided in. I wish it wasn’t so.

      Seriously there needs to be an open and honest debate on the facts in this country concerning the unparalleled amount of power which this Tribe has amassed over the past 100 years.

      I was watching Bloomberg first thing this morning and their Wealth Specialist was on. His name was Simeon Hyman. He was a bald blue eyed white guy with the typical Ashkenazi features. Following markets as closely as I do and understanding the strangle hold which the Jew has on the financial markets of the West, I was almost moved to tears while considering one would be hard pressed to find 1 out of 10 non Jews running money today. It’s simply a tragedy.

      It’s easy to throw out terms like hater bigot anti-semite etc but people you have to really stop and think. Things are not right. There’s no way they could amassed the power which they now have without complete control of our Federal Reserve.

      Tech…I do understand where you are coming from. I know that they run Hollywood…and I also have seen the video on the history of the Rothchiilds, and I know that they forced control of our banking systems. In Romans 9 it reads that not all born of Israel ,are of Israel. The Bible plainly states that aside from sexual deviants, drunkards, thieves, others that won’t enter the kingdom of God are extortioners, theives, and idolators. Tech..we can’t change the world, but we can allow the Holy Spirit of God to live in us. We won’t live here on this earth for that long. God is in control and it is all happening to bring us to the major event.. and that will be our eternal destiny. The kingdom of heaven will not be like this. I hope we meet there.     The liberals made a movie about Bush’s assassination and reporters and pundits openly expressed the wish that the shoe thrower had hit Bush or wished it was a bomb that was thrown and NO ONE WAS ARRESTED.

    The left stoked Bush HATRED and Bush stupidly NEVER FOUGHT BACK and the hatred/smears against him grew and grew and the 2008 election was won BASHING BUSH who wasn’t even running.

    With all that anti-Bush hatred and the threats with it, the LSM NEVER reported a single arrest. The Wisconsin Republican state senators whose state building was ILLEGALLY allowed to be surrounded by thugish protesting union members 24/7 for MONTHS and Wisconsin UNION POLICE officers REFUSED to kick them out when they had NO PROBLEM kicking out the protesting Tea Party members just 6 months, these union thugs THREATENED the Republican state senators and THAT was just fine.

      You have to realize something about Europe as opposed to the US. Unlike us, where we have a very small group of insane eco fascists or neo nazi’s, with the vast, VAST majority of US citizens somewhere in the center, going either center left or right (majority center right), Europe is far more polarized.

      There are far more people with political extremes going in either direction. However, they’re far less vocal than we are, which while it seems odd to us, it’s why you see such extreme violence from huge swaths of people when something like Austerity measures are undertaken. Whereas here, we’re just vocal all the time, and only a very small select group of the population is willing to go all out in rioting, and usually that rioting lasts a significantly shorter period of time.

      I guess a good analogy is we’re like gun powder, Europeans are like C4. Not all, I mean, there are a lot of very cool, calm, and collected Europeans, who really couldn’t care less about politics, but would rather live life, but this group seems to be almost exclusively in the older members of society (35+), those who know that politics is the art of BS.

    I don’t like Lieberman either. He is too wishy washy. You can’t trust him but to kill him certainly not. Most politicians aren’t worth a bullet. That’s what happens to men and women that are too lazy to work for a living. They become politicians.

    I do not much care for Lieberman myself, however, my dissatisfaction will be displayed at the polls where it should in our society. This guy belongs in jail. This type of activity has to be stopped. The co-worker that turned him in is a Patriot.

    There is a line and one should be careful not to cross it. PLUS, the Feds will take your name put it in their databases and for the rest of your life you will get xtra scrutiny when ever you fly or in someway have your ID checked by a Federal Employee. Just mess with ya.
