‘Blood On Their Hands’: RNC Chair Hits Back at Obama Camp Over Proposed Medicare Cuts

RNC Chair Reince Priebus Says Blood on Obamas Hands for Medicare Dilemma, Not Paul Ryan for Wanting to Reform

(Photo: NBC)

Democrats appeared to waste no time after Mitt Romney announced Paul Ryan would be his running mate in pushing the idea that, because Paul Ryan is in favor of entitlement reform, Republicans metaphorically want to push little old ladies off cliffs.

Erica Payne, President of the Agenda Project, commented: Mitt Romney chose a radical Medicare-hater as his running mate. Now Americans get to decide if the Medicare-haters run the country.”

Republicans have been quick to point out, however, that while Paul Ryan proposes cutting entitlements across the board in an effort to keep both our existing promises and the country’s fiscal solvency, Barack Obama also cut about $700 billion from Medicare to fund his signature health care legislation.

RNC Chair Reince Priebus made news Sunday after going on the offensive, saying: “If any person in this entire debate has blood on their hands in regard to Medicare, it’s Barack Obama. He’s the one that’s destroying Medicare.”

Watch his full remarks on Meet the Press, via Mediaite:

Responding to David Gregory’s assertion that Paul Ryan wants to fundamentally change Medicare and “expose” seniors to the private market, Priebus explained:

David, if we do nothing and if we go down the road that this president wants to go down… Medicare will be changed forever as we know it. It’ll be bankrupt by 2024. Medicare is going broke. Every person in America watching this now knows that that’s true. This president stole– he didn’t cut Medicare– he stole $700 billion from Medicare to fund Obamacare. If any person in this entire debate has blood on their hands in regard to Medicare, it’s Barack Obama. He‘s the one that’s destroying Medicare.

We are the ones that are offering solutions as to how to, number one, preserve Medicare for seniors that are at or near retirement, and, number two, figure out a way the make sure that for future generations– we‘re talking about if you’re 54 or younger, how to save Medicare and Social Security.

Priebus concluded by saying that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are willing to take real action in tackling the difficult problems, as opposed to a president who “loves the sound of his own voice” and “not only offers nothing, he makes everything worse.”

Obama has signed a death sentence on the senior citizens!
The democracts know the seniors that vote for them will keep doing so until they die and even after.
Look at it as an envestment, you take 700 Billion from seniors with a few years of democract votes left in them and redirect it to the young immigrants that the dems will get decades of votes from. It’s a WIN WIN for the dems. Once again the dems have us all pay to keep them in power,LOL.

Yes Obama wants to have death panels and decides who lives who dies and who gets the perks that will be young illegals who will stand by him. Don’t forget his wanting to decide how much we make how much we will be taxed, he will take our houses our money our business and our guns and our souls. It is already starting and Obama care hasn’t kicked in yet. My neighbors grandfather needs dialysis and they are stopping it because they say he is too old for it to help. If a person under Obama care tries to look for their own doctor and pay cash the doctor will be fined and lose his/her license. It is starting and the ones that will suffer will be new born and seniors. One better hope their baby or grandparent does not get sick as they will be left to die, just like when Obama signed the bill in Chicago to allow deformed or special needs children and children who survived a partial birth abortion to lay on a cold table and die. If America doesn’t wake up our babies and elderly will be put in mass graves. Obama is a dangerous person and he has to be voted out.

If Republicans would tell the truth. Obama cut 700 billion to medicare ADVANTAGE. Which duped seniors under Bush to switch from traditional Medicare to Medicare Advantage a PRIVATE insurance option. Which according to the congressional Budget Office says costs the government 10% more in costs than traditional Medicare. The cuts were also to drug companies, and insurance companies profits to make it comparable to regular Medicare. But why let FACTS get in the way of a good talking point….

FARMERS ACROSS MIDWEST ANGRY AT WEAK GOP LEADERSHIP IN HOUSE IN FAILURE TO PASS FARM BILL—————While the House Agriculture Committee signed off on a measure, its substantial cuts to food programs alienated too many Democrats. And its cuts to those programs, as well as to some forms of farm aid, were not enough to appease the chamber’s most conservative members.

Republican leaders were unable to muster enough support for even a one-year extension of the law and instead passed a short-term drought-relief measure, the first time the House has failed to bring its own farm bill to the floor. The Senate, which had passed its own version by a healthy bipartisan margin, declined to take up the short-term House bill, and Congress left town in a stalemate.

This is the zombie Republican lie that simply refuses to die no matter how many times it’s refuted:

      http://www.politifact.com/new-jersey/statements/2012/jun/29/jon-runyan/jon-runyan-claims-barack-obamas-health-care-includ/

It’s a good example of the strategy of, given your opponent is going to attack you on an issue, attack them on the same issue.

Obama did not cut guaranteed Medicare payments. Romney, on the other hand, would give you a voucher system: they write you a check and you get your own insurance. The plan saves money because those checks are never going to keep up with the increasing cost of medical care, shifting the cost to the elderly. That’s how it saves money for goodness sakes, by making those least able to pay, the elderly, to pay more. Now that’s not a problem for rich folks, because they have money in the bank. But for you and me? Not such a great idea.

I am in CA and have been watching WI since the freaking Unions began their vicious attack on Scott Walker. I saw what they did day after day, the thugs intimidated business people, High School children, and anyone they came across who they felt like bullying. They were an absolute mob, out of control, and I saw what the Union Thugs did when they trapped that poor older guy who was in your Congress when he could not get into the building. I think that one Democrat who came by at that time saved his life because the Union THUGS were about to tear him up from their pure hatred! These things who almost did that were NOT HUMAN! As long as the issue is cast as one of how to finance the demand for health care, there is no hope. We must recognize that ALL government medical care policy involves three elements:
      (1) Inflating demand;
      (2) Restricting supply;
      (3) New government programs to finance the consequent price increases.

The only solution lies in allowing the free market to increase the SUPPLY of health care. The only productive role for government at this point is to mobilize the educational establishment decrease the general level of ignorance about the consumption of medical services.

Even for the “Ron Paul” supporters, Paul Ryan should be to their liking. Ryan is trying to “undo” Social Security, that where everyone working was forced to pay into, whether the wanted to or not. This has to be done gradually because it would be stealing from those who were forced to pay into it.

No one 55 or older will be affected by Ryan’s plan. That’s because anyone 55 or younger is 10 years or more from possibly receiving benefits. The plan is to allow younger people to choose how THEY want to save for their retirement.

The thing you have to realize about us, is any time the media talks about a politician we’re not familiar with, we ignore everything they say and go straight to the voting record. There are key votes out there we’re each looking at. Whether it’s tarp, bailouts or civil liberties, wars, nation building, etc. There are maybe 6 or 7 congressmen and 2 or 3 senators in the republican party, for me, that I like because I’m looking at how they voted on the post 9/11 legislation.

The purpose of these laws is to go after the people that what to destroy our country. Did our founders use or need such laws, the answer is no. At the time of our Founders if you were a traitor, spy or deemed disloyal to the Revolution (American or not) you were executed or imprisoned. But wait that doesn’t go with the Ron Paul version of our Founders.

@Willy, Give it a rest. Romney and Obama share the same progressive view of Constitutionalism from the Harvard Law School. I’m advocating that people vote for someone outside the establishment because if enough people do so we could actually turn this ship around. Even if we don’t win, with enough of us standing firm the parties will no choice but to move our direction. I do believe Americans are ready for a change if we could just break through the barrier of people voting based on how they BELIEVE others will vote. I can‘t sit back and watch our nation’s freedom being destroyed by both parties without saying anything about it. Washington needs an attitude adjustment and I just don’t know any other way to make it happen.

Here are a few differences between 0bama and Romney.

None of these are true of Romney:

First President to preside over a cut to the credit-rating of the
      United States.

First President to violate the War Powers Act.

First President to be held in contempt of court for illegally
obstructing oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.

First President to defy a Federal Judge’s court order to cease
implementing the Health Care Reform Law.

First President to require all Americans to purchase a product from a
      third party.

First President to spend a trillion dollars on ‘shovel-ready’ jobs when
there was no such thing as ‘shovel-ready’ jobs.

First President to abrogate bankruptcy law and turn over control of
major companies to his union supporters.

First President to by-pass Congress and implement the Dream Act through
      executive fiat.

First President to order a secret amnesty program that stopped the
deportation of illegal immigrants across the U.S., including those with
      criminal convictions.

First President to demand a company hand-over $20 billion to one of his
      political appointees.

First President to have a law signed by an auto-pen without being
      present.

First President to arbitrarily usurp congress, declare an existing
law unconstitutional and refuse to enforce it.

First President to threaten insurance companies if they publicly
spoke-out on the reasons for their rate increases.

Rule 38 does keep states from binding delegates using a unit rule (there are ways for states to get around this rule), however, you see, it is a federal law, 42 USC 1971 that unbinds the delegates section (b) if you have not been paying attention and federal law DOES trump state law and party rules. Rule 11 is where the RNC is not allowed to back a certain candidate if another is in the race for the nomination. Priebus violated that rule and he will pay for it. In fact there could be

Obama wins the debate without being there.

Tell me where in the constitution it says that men with guns should go around collecting money from productive people to give to others?

Medicare and SS are unconstitutional. FDR’s chief counsel went before the SCOTUS (Steward Machine vs. Davis and Helvering v. Davis) and admited it was a tax and not insurance premiums. Even still FDR himself, threatened to expand and load the court to get his way. He was a tyrant. Freedom died a little then.

Regardless, the GOP now is playing on Obama’s turf conceding that SS, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. are some sort of sacred cows that must be preserved for generations. They aren‘t they are yokes of oppression for kids who aren’t even born yet. And,they aren’t constitutional.

You miss the real point if you start arguing whether or not Social Security or Medicare is constitutional. It doesn’t matter anymore, because they’ve been around unchallenged long enough that over 100 million have it, and are dependent on it.

For better or worse, the American system of governance is in the end; a game of numbers. The question is this:

How many people can you get to vote for you if you challenge Medicare and Social Security? If the answer is “Less than the other guy.” Then you lose no matter how great your idea’s are.

Even if we cannot afford the programs, and continuing them would break our nation in half, it doesn’t matter unless you can convince more people than the other guy, that it’s true.

As fascist as it may seem, I long for the day where citizenship, and the right to vote is no longer a right afforded to Americans by birth, but is somthing earned by service. Our founders envisioned a goverment populated by our best. Wise men and women chosen by their peers for their ability, and merit. Are you talking Social Security or Medicare? Social Security is going bankrupt because the Democrats put the Social Security fund into the general fund. Democrats and Republicans have spent what was suposed to be “untouchable”. Yes there are less people contibuting, but look at the unemployment figures. People are out of work and not contributing anything!

There is so much fraud and abuse in Medicare this is the biggest reason that “entitlement” is going bankrupt. Now Obama has taken $700 billion out of it!! NEITHER of these programs are “entitlements”. We the American working class and our employers have been contirubing all of our working lives! It”s the crooks in Washington that have robbed us!!.

Tax people into oblivian so the business and working people leave and leave the dependent non paying behind. The same with the Country tax them into oblivian and they move out of the country leaving the non paying dependents behind. Their solution is not to create more payers but to increase taxes on the payers who are left forcing them to consider leaving the country again leaving the non payers behind.
