Bloomberg Slams Occupy Wall Street: The Protests Are ‘Trying to Destroy The Jobs of Working People’

New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg took to the airwaves again for his weekly radio show. In his last broadcast, as reported earlier on The Blaze, the New York mayor sounded as if he was becoming concerned with the growing number of protesters.

This week he sounds downright annoyed.

His biggest worry?

He believes the protests — should they spiral out of control — will hurt the city’s financial centers, having a ripple effect that would ultimately hurt the workers they claim to fight for.

“What they’re trying to do is take away the jobs of people working in the city, take away the tax base that we have,” Bloomberg said. “We’re not going to have money to pay our municipal employees or anything else.”

He also added that, whether anyone wants to admit it or not, the banks are absolutely vital to the economic well-being of New York and railing against them will only exasperate an already precariously balanced financial situation.

“Everyone’s got a thing they want to protest, some of which is not realistic. And if you focus for example on driving the banks out of New York City, you know those are our jobs,” he said. “You can’t have it both ways: If you want jobs you got to assist companies and give them confidence to go and hire people.”

“The protests that are trying to destroy the jobs of working people is unproductive,” he added.

As he did on his last show, Bloomberg implied that the protesters may only have a little bit more time left before he decides that enough is enough.

“The one thing I can tell you for sure,” he said, “is if anybody in the city breaks the law we will arrest them and turn them over the district attorneys.”

In reference to claims that some protesters “charged the police a few nights ago,” the mayor added, “that is just not something we’re going to tolerate, period.”

“We are trying to deal with this is a way that doesn‘t make the problem grow and protects everybody’s rights… we’re trying to let this — not ‘play out,‘ that isn’t quite the right word, but let them express themselves.”

All the extra costs associated with handling those individuals participating in the “Occupy Wall Street” demonstrations should be charged to the particpants, starting with those arrested for violating the laws. Photos of every participant possible should be acquired and posted on every social networking site on the internet. The hard working tax paying people of this nation are entitled to see what the liberal socialists have spawned. Are there any persons we have seen and/or heard from in these demonstrations that you would even think of hiring if you owned or ran a business?

No, you know who gets cut first when corporations have hard financial times? The bank tellers, the janitors, the cleaning people. If a business has to cut back it may only have the cleaning company come in three times a week rather than nightly, or other measures like that. The CEOs and upper management generally have contracts that the company would have to pay out if they dumped the suits.

Doubt me? BoA is going to cutting something like 30,000 jobs in the coming months. You watch and see who gets laid off. Merry Christmas, here’s your pink slip, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

For once, I have to commend Bloomberg. He may have his head up his a** most days, but this is one of the rare occasions where he managed to free it from the grasp of his tight sphincter and make use of fresh air and cranial bloodflow to formulate a good idea and act upon it.

Well said, Bloomberg. Don’t let these anarchists succeed.

Funny isn‘t it that it is Bloomberg’s left that is paying for supporters to picket at the protest. ( http://www.americanparchment.com/video/2011/oct/organizer_admits_paying.html ) Then there’s the unions busing in supporters and telling them to do this as a union order. And last there are the left wing organizations that are gathering money and supplies for the movement.

You are right. Every fortune 500 company & smaller ones cut back contracted service 1st. They bring them back in house or they reduce the hours of contractors. It is already in the contracts. then they cut people with less seniority. Sometimes they try to keep new hires as a they don’t want to burn bridges with colleges.

I am a small business owner. On Facebook, one of my family members was cheering Occupy Wall Street. He got aggressive and made a list of things he can’t “afford” because the “rich people are keeping him from it,“ demanding ”socialized medicine because that’s the ONLY way [he] could support [his] family. Do you want [his] wife to die?” (She had a benign tumor removed; a cosmetic surgery that we the 53% paid for). I offered him a job on the spot: full or part time, benefits with full time work, very good salary ($20-$50/hour doe).

He turned it down and told me that it was “highly offensive.” Yeah, a job is highly offensive. It’s highly offensive to be expected to pay his own way. These protesters are leaches and should be turned out of the public streets.

thepatriotdave, I knew you’d come around. Thank for your call to action!

I’m like you. The Tea Party is right saying we should get rid of the VA, because it’s 100% socialism: the hospitals are owned by the government and the doctors are paid by the government. Veterans and veteran organizations are 100% against the VA, because they are against socialism. And the military, as a group, are disgusted with aadministrationon that, time after time, keeps killing members of Al Qaeda. The military knows that killing the bad guys is only a ploy to hide their real intention of being soft on terrorism and allowing Sharia Law to become the law of the land! Who cares if veteran’s homes are being repossessed? This is about freedom, the freedom of bands to make a buck.

And we‘re all sick and tired of the whining about teacher’s pay being cut, if they’re not laid off. Who cares if police and firefighters are laid off? We have to pay for the tax cuts for the rich, something the millionaires and billionaires swear will create new jobs. They’re doing fine, they’ve gotten their tax cuts already, but they just need a little more and the jobs will come!

The teachers today are all liberals, preaching a lot of Sesame Street liberal crap, so let’s replace them with patriots. Patriots who understand that even a black child, raised in poverty by a single parent can become President or become one of the richest women in the world.
