Manhattan Al Qaeda ‘Sympathizer’ Arrested by NYPD in Plot to Bomb Cops & Troops

(AP) Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Sunday an “al-Qaida sympathizer” who plotted to bomb police and post offices in New York City as well as U.S. troops returning home has been arrested on numerous terrorism-related charges.

Bloomberg announced at a news conference the Saturday arrest of 27-year-old Jose Pimentel of Manhattan, a U.S. citizen originally from the Dominican Republic.

The mayor said Pimentel was “plotting to bomb police patrol cars and also postal facilities as well as targeted members of our armed services returning from abroad.” But authorities have no evidence that Pimentel was working with anyone else, the mayor said.

“He appears to be a total lone wolf,” Bloomberg said.

Pimentel was motivated by his resentement of American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, fueled by al-Qaida propaganda, the mayor said. “He was not part of a larger conspiracy emanating from abroad.” However, Bloomberg said Pimentel represents the type of threat FBI Director Robert Mueller has warned about as U.S. forces erode the ability of terrorists to carry out large scale attacks.

Pimentel is accused of having an explosive substance Saturday when he was arrested that he planned to use against others and property to terrorize the public. The charges accuse him of conspiracy going back at least a year, first-degree criminal possession of a weapon as a crime of terrorism, and soliciting support for a terrorist act. He was to be arraigned later Sunday.

“This is just another example of New York City because we are an iconic city … this is a city that people would want to take away our freedoms gravitate to and focus on,” Bloomberg said.

The New York Police Department’s Intelligence Division was involved in the arrest. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said Pimentel spent most of his years in Manhattan and lived about five years in Schenectady.

      Well it certainly is convenient for him. Could well be this is a real lone wolf and they were simply waiting for the opportunity pick him up. It of course works towards two ends. 1) What you stated, to give Bloomberg a boost, and 2) another reason to bypass more constitutional law for more freedom now or at some point in the future where they can string a series of events and “lone wolves”.

      What bothers me is the lack of rhetoric recently about Tea Party = dangerous racists who will eventually go ballistic and shoot people in the streets with our guns in one hand, Holy text in the other. That can be attributed to many things but usually they figure the opposition is too small now to bother with, or they’re prepping for some new laws or new campaign to connect a bunch of “lone wolves” to the Tea Party, libertarians, or at least the conservative movement.

      Allow me to put the “lone wolf” in context, since you won’t, moronberg. Al-Qaida propaganda never happens in isolation. In fact, you lie about who this man really is. Pimental is a convert to Islam by the name of Muhammad Yusuf. He had been under surveillance for over a year, long before his two heroes, UBL and al-Awlaki, were killed Yusuf was charged, among other things, with “soliciting support for a terrorist act.” Looks like one is a lonely number, huh? Especially for wolves…

      Occupy Blaze continues to post liberal media disinformation. Yusuf is no “al-Qaeda sympathizer.” He is a jihadist.

      Another reason for me to go to the Gun Show this week-end. The liars and loonies of the north are setting the stage for an “Executive Order”, to round up all the Lone Wolf “American” Citizens.
      Why do they refuse to state the obvious; he is a terrorist. We aren’t allowed to say what beliefs he professes, or The Blaze will edit them out. Shame on your staff Glenn, they are infested with liberals, right under your nose.

      1.) The towers were designed to “pancake” in the event of a catastrophic structural failure and collapse in a straight line to the foundation to minimize damage to surrounding structures.

      2.) The towers were built with a potential aircraft strike in mind, however, the largest jet liner at the time was the Boeing 707. The architect of the WTC towers was amazed that the towers withstood the impacts as long as they did considering that a 737 is significantly larger than a 707.

      3.) The “charges” that were seen “detonating” was nothing more than air compressing, and expanding outward as the towers started to “pancake.” It is all physics, dude. When you compress a fluid (yes, air is considered to be a fluid in the realm of physics) it creates pressure. It also needs to find the path of least resistance to escape. Guess what? The windows blow out floor by floor because the glass will break more easily than concrete and steel.

      4.) What about the burn marks on the metal? Duh. Physics again. When you stress any material, it generates heat. Stress a lot of it and compress the space, and it will ignite. No “charges” required.

      5.) You conspiracy theorists think you’re so smart, and yet, you have absolutely NO PROOF WHATSOEVER that your theories are correct. I, however can back up my statements with science. I can even explain the “chem trails” with science to disprove those crack pot theories as well.

    2.The Times reports that defendant in the case has been identified as Jose Pimentel. Pimentel is a U.S. citizen
    3.A person close to the police investigation told The Associated Press that the suspect is a Manhattan resident, and was planning to bomb various targets including police cars. The person told The Associated Press that the 27-year-old man was acting as a lone wolf, and was allegedly inspired by al-Qaida.

    He was a Muslim practicing Islam…. just say it, it doesn’t hurt to tell the truth!

    In accordance with New World Order Theory, the Islamic world is to be engaged as an excuse to build up a domestic security apparatus so that ****** people like Mayor Bloomberg can control native-born American citizens.

    Islam is well-suited for this task as it is a belief system that appeals to low-IQ people who, when acting without outside guidance, are capable only of hurting themselves and maybe a handful of others.

    National IQ Tables do not include testing results for the Dominican Republic, but do include testing results for Jamaica. The average Jamaican has an IQ of 72 which is two points above mentally retarded, and twenty eight points below the average American of European descent.

      If you have read the controversial book “The Bell Curve” you do realize that IQ keeps on increasing from generation to generation due to nutrition and education. Assuming they get the “right” education & not the “left” education. A person with an IQ of 70 today would most likely score higher on 1900s or 1920s era IQ test.

    At 7:56, when Commissioner Raymond Kelly held up the pipe bomb, all the cameras started “clicking”. I’m a photographer from the old days before digital photography. Digital cameras don’t make that noise. I found it strange hearing that. I thought that all cameras used by the media today were all digital.

    I didn’t know news people still used 35mm SLR cameras with a shutter. Why is this so? Why use 35mm in today’s world of digital photography? Is it a legal matter? Where do they buy film and get it developed?

    I have to admit, all these OWS rallies across the country, especially on the days that they have larger crowds, it’s been making me nervous. They’re perfect targets for a terror attack. Think about it, the police are having to watch the protestors and protect buildings, the protestors are creating chaos in some instances, it is, it’s a perfect scenario for a terrorist to sneak in without notice. It’s really been worrying me, and I thank God that so far nothing has happened.
