NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg
Discussion on a proposed ban on sugary drinks over 16 ounces appears to be drowning out any other policy, accomplishments or even mention of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. During a press conference on Monday about creating new housing, Bloomberg vented when asked about an upcoming march in protest of the soda ban.
“If you want to kill yourself, I guess you have a right to do it,” Gothamist quotes Bloomberg as saying. “We’re trying to do something about that. We‘ve got to do something about this but they can have a march and they can make a joke out of it but there’s a story in the post today where the hospitals are having to increase the size of their gurneys and strengthen them— they can’t even handle the patients some of the patients are so heavy.”
On Monday, a small group of peaceful protesters rallied against the ban on a sidewalk near City Hall Park in what was called “The Million Big Gulp March.”
An event organizer and NYC Liberty HQ spokesman Zach Huff told CBS News Monday, “Before, the government was instituted to protect the rights of everyone and prevent crime, and now it’s cracking down the rights of everyone.”
“It’s astonishing we have a mayor who is pro-choice when it comes to what a woman can do with her body but isn’t pro-choice with simple choices, like soda container sizes,” he added.
According to a recent NY1-Marist poll, 53 percent of New Yorkers oppose the ban, while only 42 percent agree with the proposal. The Blaze has previously covered the flaws and public debate surrounding Bloomberg’s proposed soda ban.

Posted on July 10, 2012 at 10:27amI wonder when people will wise up to it isn’t that they want to control soda, but that it’s the water in soda they want to control, because they want to control all water in general. Just like in many communities they are starting to want to control water drainage ditches and in parks they want to get rid of dams and bridges like the bridge in Yosemite National Park, and even the U.N wants to control access to waterways.

Posted on July 10, 2012 at 11:02amWe were warned that this was coming..They are draining our lakes by piping it to bigger cities.. our city is raising our water rates..ours is going up 28% so that the overpaid city officials can give themselves raises..and they plan to raise it by 1% each month.. I find it hard to believe that they would concentrate on soda when our very own government is so heavily involved in poisonous GMO foods..it grows insecticide inside the plant..and the protein similiar to ours multiplies exponentially in our intestines even after stopping consumption…it is suspected of causing cancer..auto immune diseases. and alzhiemers. Lawsuits have been threatened by Monsanto if anyone dares to label GMO’s..I understand that other countries have banned them, and in ones that allow have only 5% of them while our GMO foods are at 70%..Monsanto has sued farmers when their seed blows onto others land for the purpose of taking their land. They intend to rid us of God given seed and to force GMOs down our throats.

That’s why they do it; it’s a baby step towards communist change. NY will sit back like the lazy ass uninformed turds they are while their communist politicians plan the next thing they think they can get away with banning.

This is the most dangerous part about progressives. They recognize that there is a problem. In order to solve the problem they try to limit choices…..this is known as the “nudge”. When the people will not respond to the “nudge” (which is what the American people are doing) then they must resort to a more demanding form of tyranny known as the “shove”. The shove might be a fine or “penalty” as would be incurred from Obamacare for not following their directives. This can result in jail time or possibly the taking of your property if you don’t OBEY. When the American people will not comply with this tactic the next stage of tyranny is known as “THE GUN.” If you won’t respond to the nudge or the shove, then how about a gun to the side of your head to help you make the right decision! The thought process being….if the “undesirables” won‘t make the correct choices then we’ll just help them make better ones. It’s for the good of the nation you see. Germany took the same view of “undesirables” only a few years back. The end result of progressive thought is TYRANNY. The end result of tyranny is the opression and destruction of millions of human beings.

Posted on July 10, 2012 at 10:19amOkay we all know that Bloomberg is not a conservative right? This argument is purposefully obfuscated to generate better numbers for the progressives. This is two separate things. – Are sodas of this size bad for you? – and – Should government be legislating this? Clearly, the administration should not be involved here. It should provide a SAFE arena for the discussion, but not enter into it. To do otherwise – for whatever reason – damages the mechanism of government and leave it rife for abuse. But then……I also assume he knows this, and wants it, as do most progressives.
