Bob Dole Checks Into Walter Reed

Former Kansas Senator and Republican presidential candidate Bob Dole has reportedly been readmitted to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Bob Dole Checks Into Walter Reed

According to Dole Institute spokeswoman Heather Anderson, Dole entered the hospital on Thursday, but the Associated Press has not been able to verify his health status.

Last year, the 87-year-old spent 10 months at Walter Reed after suffering pneumonia three times following knee surgery in February.

“We don‘t have any reason to believe it’s anything serious,” Anderson told the Topeka Capitol-Journal.

According to the Washington Post, “sources” say Dole checked into Walter Reed for a “minor tune-up.”

      @airborne So do I.
      @Neverending They do appreciate it. I usually walk up, shake their hand and say “Thank you for your service”. If I see our guys in the coffee shop, their coffee and danish is always on me….it’s the very least I can do. They “stand the wall” for me. Thank you doesn’t even come close to the gratitude I feel.

    Nothing against Senator Dole. But imagine you or me trying to get 10 months of care in a hospital under current insurance and especially under Obamacare. Ha! He gets ultra care from his decades of service in the Senate and his sacrifices during WWII.

      My doctor at the moment is great at my local V.A. I pay what I am able to but I am not turned down for a single service. I recently had a colonoscopy because I am 51. They also treat me for high blood pressure and anything else that comes up.

      I am NO hero. I served our country honorably. I was shot at a few times, that’s it. There are signs inside the hospital and clinics that proclaim: “ The best possible care from a grateful nation………”

      82nd, my mother-in-law was a disabled vet from WWII and she received the very best of care through the VA until her time came to meet Jesus. My husband and I are also vets but so far have not needed the VA system but if we did I know we would be treated well.

    Let me say again, Bob Dole was a World War 2 hero who was assigned to a special operation, the precursor to the 10th Mountain Division. He was wounded in the mountains of northern Italy while dragging a wounded comrade to cover. He received the Silver Star, the Purple Heart, and spent nearly a year in a veterans hospital.

    Those of you “heroes and wannabe’s” who are wishing him ill and taking cheap shots at him, I can only think that it is out of envy. Envy that he has demonstrated what kind of person he is under combat, and envy because he has accomplished more in his life then you have or ever will. You disgust me.

      Thank You. Politics has nothing to do with this. My New Years Resolution is to stop trying to answer the trolls here. They don’t care. They won’t really listen. They crave attention and will say anything to get it. Everyone knows who I refer to so I ask all of you to do the same and let’s raise the level around here.

      Disagree all day long!!!! Argue & debate!! We NEED that. Stop the name calling etc.

      @N37BU6
      In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[2] In addition to the offending poster, the noun troll can also refer to the provocative message itself, as in “that was an excellent troll you posted”. While the term troll and its associated action trolling are primarily associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels highly subjective, with trolling being used to describe intentionally provocative actions outside of an online context. For example, recent media accounts have used the term troll to describe “a person who defaces internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families.”[3][4]

      And you just got trolled into giving the desired response… which was for you to break your new year’s resolution:

      “My New Years Resolution is to stop trying to answer the trolls here.”

      Better luck next year!

      But yeah, I know what you mean. Everyone “replies” to the first post despite saying something completely unrelated (I.E. not replying) and hogs the top spot. By the time you type something thoughtful, you’re on page 3. I wonder if they realize how pathetic it looks…

      Just like the comments, serious stories get bumped into oblivion by the next 8 worthless stories cranked out at record speed. But meh… watcha gonna do? Wait for the serious site to come along, I guess. Or join the Heritage Foundation.

      shylow and n37bu6: Go ahead and post whatever you want, wherever you want. Many of us read all the postings and post again among them, so what you want to say will be read by many here. I welcome all opinions and comments, and read as many as I have time for. Many people like to be “first” thinking that gets them more attention, but don’t let that bother you. Reminds me of when my husband ran the senior lunch program when he was a Community Education Director when we were quite young. Some seniors would fight to get in line first, and would push others out of line. They fought like little children, and being a young mother sitting there with my baby, I was amazed that people don’t change, no matter what age. In fact, it seems like some get worse with age.

      @Mary M. Tebbe

      I read through all the pages too, if it’s a good article that has spawned a decent discussion.

      I think a “view all posts” button would be great, to display them on one long page… or at least several much longer pages. In this day and age, there’s no bandwidth problem with doing that.
