Boehner to Obama: Why Have You ‘Given up on the Country?’

During an interview Thursday at the Washington Ideas Forum, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) accused President Obama of abandoning the notion of the two parties working together in favor of his campaign, reports Business Insider.
(Related: Obama blames GOP for stagnant economy)
“Mr. President, why have you given up on the country and decided to campaign full time instead of doing what the American people sent us all here to do?” Boehner added, according to a Reuters report. “And that’s to find common ground to deal with the big challenges that face our economy and our country.”
“We’re legislating, he’s campaigning,” Boehner said. “It’s very disappointing.”
“It takes two to tango, and I’ve reached out to the president,” he added. “You have to have a willing partner.”
In an odd juxtaposition, Boehner’s remarks coincided with a major White House press conference in which Obama again pushed his jobs bill and said that Republicans’ intransigence had made compromise impossible.
“I’ve gone out of my way to work with Republicans, find common ground and move this country forward,” Obama said within minutes of Boehner saying the exact opposite.
In a press conference three weeks ago, Boehner also said that Washington had to do away with the, “my way or the highway philosophy.” In that same speech, he reiterated his party’s position saying that tax increases were, “not a viable option for the Joint Committee.”
“I’ve had my share of disappointments this year … but nothing has disappointed me more than what’s happened over the last five weeks — to watch the president of the United States give up on governing, give up on leading, and spend full time campaigning,” Boehner said at the symposium.

Posted on October 6, 2011 at 9:58pmObama has NEVER had a coherent plan to help the economy… just a series of disjointed and counterproductive socialist pipedreams that he and his political cronies could benefit from. What’s more, the Democrat Party hasn‘t produced ONE budget in the three years this nincompoop’s been in office, but they’ve written more insufficiently funded “checks” than ANY government in American history. No wonder our debt is at an all-time high and our credit rating’s at an all-time low… all under the watch of the Dems and Obama.
Now that a LARGE majority of the country understands what these Democrat bums have managed to cram down the taxpayers’ collective throat, and that these stupid bums only intend to do more of the same, they‘re rejecting ALL of the Democrat Party’s and Obama’s “ideas” as nothing more than the partisan, self-serving lies they are.
Boehner’s premise that Obama EVER was actually pulling for the true welfare of America is, while charitable, simply wrong. This arrogant, unqualified and evil little jerk NEVER had it in him to pull for ANYONE but himself and his socialist cronies. Those who were stupid enough to fall for his vapid “Hope and Change” campaign elected nothing more than a slogan, embodied in an empty suit named Obama. And if you have any common sense and intelligence, you should join the rest of us next fall by voting for ANYONE but Obama. And while you’re at it you could “Pray for Change from this HOPELESS Mistake”.

But maybe it would be good for him to take a look at his own home state of Ohio just now, and worry about what is happening to the quality of life of his fellow Buckeyes and fix it, before he goes around seeing logs in his brother’s eye, or however that saying goes.

Posted on October 6, 2011 at 1:50pmYeah, and he also realizes that he has no control over House Republicans, and least not the Tea Party ones. He‘s not in a position to negotiate because he can’t get enough Republican votes to pass anything. So although he still has a pulpit to slam the President, he can’t claim to be able to offer any alternative.

Obama Health bill was managed by a committee of and through the ‘shadow gov’t’. No single representative had read the entire bill and yet there was a successful yes vote. Most had some of their staff read small sections and report back.None knew what was inside the bill, and yet ‘represented’ the people.
What is being exhibited in the White House and the Legislature-both houses is Panel-committee government. Super 12. There is very little Representative governance in the past 2+ years. House Speaker Boehner is in most part a big gov’t republican having to deal with freshman newbies.

But only at the Federal level, which is the level that affects *all* states. Thus, there is no way to take care of Ohio specifically for any Ohio politician elected to Congress, he/she would have to do it as a 50-state package. Ergo, the initial post responded to is meaningless at best.
