House Speaker John Boehner said his relationship with the president has become strained in recent weeks. (AP)
They’ve come a long way from the golf course: House Speaker John Boehner said his relationship with President Barack Obama has grown “frosty” in recent weeks as the economy continues to struggle and Americans remain out of work.
Still, the Ohio Republican said his relationship with the president remains “pretty good” on the whole.
“Well, the president and I have a pretty good relationship,” Boehner said in an interview on ABC’s “This Week” that aired Sunday. “You know, I – it’s been a little frosty here the last – the last few weeks. But we’ve got a pretty good relationship.”
“That doesn’t mean that we always agree,” Boehner added. “But the American people expect, even though we have very different ideas, the American people want us to look for common ground and then act on it.”
Obama took a direct shot at Boehner last week when mocked lawmakers for passing a resolution reaffirming “In God We Trust” as the U.S. motto, among other debates.
“In the House of Representatives, what have you guys been debating? John, you’ve been debating a commemorative coin for baseball,” Obama said. “You had legislation reaffirming that ‘In God We Trust’ is our motto.”
During his interview with ABC, Boehner called himself the “most straight up, transparent person in this town” and said he remained optimistic about Republicans and Democrats working together.
“We’ve taken some steps in the right direction here over the last couple of months. We’ve got a lot more steps to take together.”
Watch the full interview below, via ABC. Boehner’s comments about Obama begin at the 12:00 mark.

Obama said “I‘ll show you mine if you’ll show me yours”. So Boehner did, but Obama didn’t. :O
Birth certificate. We‘re talkin’ birth certificate here.

only as long as that common ground is based solidly on the Constitution and does not further the dis-integration of the United States Republic.

You want things run your way and only your way. No compromise, no other opinions or perspectives needed. Just right-wing Christianity calling the shots. In a nation of 300 million people, you think that will work out?

Posted on November 6, 2011 at 11:42pmYup I smell patriotic brothers and sisters arm and arm, under the constitution if there is lawlessness at the top, we the people are under no obligation to obey. I think the time is approaching where we exercise those rights. And I urge any of our military brass to expose whatever they can. Those in power that know the agenda is wrong need to rise. Stop being whimps and rise.

This is exactly what George Wallace was talking about when he said there‘s not a dime’s worth of difference between Republicans and Democrats.
A few recent Tea Party representatives excepted, they are NOT Republicans or Democrats… they are the POLITICAL CLASS, and we are the proletariat they milk for tax money to keep their high rolling lifestyles up.

Posted on November 6, 2011 at 3:09pmBoehner is trying to do the best job for the people of this country. That means keeping this big spender in check. Of course, Obama’s attempts at reaching across the aisle means sticking the GOP in the eye with a hot poker. He wouldn’t know how to compromise to get things done and his staff is even worse. I applaud what Boehner is doing and the tough job he has. Keep up the good work.

Posted on November 6, 2011 at 5:34pmAgree. Find it hard to get angry with Boehner but very easy to get angry with Obama and his Far Left policies. I think the people are going to have to push back on this one ( meetings, emails, publicity, media coverage ) as the Lefty Flash Mob Occupy Gangs with their phony “99%” crapola have pretty much hogged the spot light. The Democrats are ruthless , union-styled intimidators. Not going to be easy to beat them. But it must be done.

After all the bills sent to the democratic senate laying there in the not to do pile from Harry Reid, I would thing Obama would call out the senate for not doing anything, but that would mean being truthful and that is beyond Obama’s grasp.

Good speaker, white guilt, clean-cut, nice guy with two daughters, with little political record ( voted “present”/ little time in the spot light ), teleprompter master . Packaged him perfectly and tied him with a bow of Nice Guy, Above Partisan Politics, and a real Uniter of all people . Promised the Most Transparent Administration ever. The media stifled all of the shady parts of his past , and the fix was in . All an illusion given the Far Left agenda that the Party has muscled through since his election. And as soon as anyone protested his Far Left policies, the Party started playing the Race Card ! Indeed, he was the PERFECT …. manchurian candidate .
