Boehner Sends ‘Thank You’ to Dems for Motivating ObamaCare Repeal

After Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., announced on Monday that Democrats would block any Republican attempts to repeal President Obama’s health care overhaul legislation passed last year, new Speaker of the House John Boehner, R-Ohio, fired back Tuesday with a tongue-in-cheek “thank you” message:
Senators Reid, Durbin, Schumer, Murray and Stabenow:
Thank you for reminding us – and the American people – of the backroom deal that you struck behind closed doors with ‘Big Pharma,’ resulting in bigger profits for the drug companies, and higher prescription drug costs for 33 million seniors enrolled in Medicare Part D, at a cost to the taxpayers of $42.6 billion.
The House is going to pass legislation to repeal that now. You’re welcome.
- Speaker-Designate John Boehner’s Press Office
Boehner‘s terse note of thanks seems to suggest that congressional Republicans don’t plan to back down from their opposition to the health care law — a platform which helped sweep Republicans into office in record numbers last November.
The first vote on a repeal is scheduled for Jan. 12.

Posted on January 5, 2011 at 3:04pmThe Congress cannot continue to operate like the 111th did while expecting different results. We’ll see if Boehner can make a positive difference, Pelosi did not but still refuses to admit the excessive public debt her mandate caused. From here on out, all Republicans and Democrats are on probation – they work for the voters and can be voted out if they continue with country school houses for Sen. Harkin, high tech jet ports for Sen. Murtha’s constituents, earmarks, pork, and with special deals to buddies while failing to fix the economy, reduce unemployments, freeing up business bank loans and ending the deaths, maiming, waste and expense of the centuries long Arab sand wars.

Posted on January 5, 2011 at 7:40amFirst of all we should make them get rid of the retirement plan they all enjoy and that would make them really want to keep their jobs. One term deserves a full retirement ? How many people can work for so short of time and get any retirement benifits let alone full retirement.
Report Post »Lubster
Posted on January 5, 2011 at 8:56pmAppreciate your comment. They do not get a full a retirement in the house and senate. Those folks get it based on years. BUT, I think they should give themselves a nice big DECREASE in pay. Earning double the amount of the average American worker is criminal. Same for the Senate. They need to really feel the pain, not just a small pin *****, then blissfully tip toe on through the tulips.

His is the most important work after repeal of obamacare- we must demand the truth about how this administration has conducted past business, and with who it has conducted business for the last two years.Issa MUST go public with the outing of ALL Obama`s czars, who are they, where are they, what are they responsible for?Starting today – demand the new congress allow an increase in the debt ceiling that will allow the government to operate for 30 DAYS ONLY- then see what budget cuts have ACTUALLY been implemented, then authorize another 30 day increase – we must keep the leash tight.Voice your support of the folks that do what they said they would – condemn LOUDLY and PUBLICLY those that do not. Posted on January 5, 2011 at 6:32amIt will be a long, hard ride and nothing major will get done until after 2012. Right now it is simply defense, we block Obama’s plans. We put a stop to the FCC and the EPA. We quietly take stock of what we have and create a comprehensive plan that we can unveil for the upcoming election. It is vitally important that Republicans are all on the same page and that Tea Party ideals drive the party. The American people want solutions and we understand that those solutions are going to hurt. Do not BS us, fix the problems!

Posted on January 5, 2011 at 6:27amJobs are the most important thing. That is the part you stupid libs do not understand. Jobs are linked to the economy which is linked to a stable business environment. Health insurance is skyrocketing under this new bill and small business cannot afford those costs. MacDonalds may be able to get an exemption, but mom and pop cannot.
Besides, repeal the bill and millions of doctors can get back to work….

Posted on January 5, 2011 at 6:22amNoooo! Say it aint so?
It is a “symbolic” vote, we all are aware of that. We want to take names so that next election cycle we can throw the rest of the bums out. It is simple as that. It is making a statement from the incoming House and the American people.
As far as the health care bill, it will most likely crash when parts are found unconstitutional. Either that, or the major parts will be defunded so that it cannot be enacted. It was forced down our throat and we reject it pure and simple. No amount of rhetoric or threats will change that. We will either scrap it or find a way around it, but either way, we reject mass socialized medicine.

The way to attack this is on fiscal responsibility angles. Show the waste, show the way it Ball and chains our republic to financial ruin.
Im sure that there are some good ideas and items nestled within this 2000+pg document, those also should be brought to light, but the evil undermining and unamerican aspects of this law need to be struck down ASAP and the people given the chance to empower themselves instead of the government chaining them down.
