Boehner‘s ’Non-Starter’ 2 Week Temporary Budget Proposal is Now Claimed By DEMS

The potential of a government shutdown that was often discussed on one cable network ending in ‘NBC’ appears to be easing as Speaker Boehner’s proposal of a two-week, short term budget that would allow the government to still operate as lawmakers continue discussions seems to have gained a foothold in the Senate.  This is very odd to me as I recall Democrat/Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid initially thumbing his nose at Boehner’s idea:

“The Republicans’ so-called compromise is nothing more than the same extreme package the House already handed the Senate, just with a different bow. This isn’t a compromise, it’s a hardening of their original position. This bill would simply be a two-week version of the reckless measure the House passed last weekend. It would impose the same spending levels in the short term as their initial proposal does in the long term, and it isn’t going to fool anyone. Both proposals are non-starters in the Senate.”

Reid’s words.  Just days ago he called the two-week idea a non-starter.  Today it seems that Reid has not only accepted the idea, but is claiming it.  In a statement released from Senator Reid’s office, from spokesperson Jon Summers:

“The plan Republicans are floating today sounds like a modified version of what Democrats were talking about. We’re glad they think it’s a good idea.”

If the unions were able to get Harry reelected, then what do you think they will do for Obama? Americans are STUPID enough to believe the ad. the unions run, then we all deserve what we get!! Average Americans are too lazy to do their own hw to find out what a candidate really stands for. But in this case, every single American in NV knew what Reid stood for and yet they reelect him. Scary. This is also an example of why Unions should NOT have collective bargaining.

Luckily we have Ohio and Virginia up to the task – their ability to compromise will keep old Harry Busy! Like Ron said, you get a lot done when you don’t take credit! This is actually very nice bi-partisanship!

personally, I say let the government shut down. It would force them to only spend the money they take in. Nothing wrong with that.

Amen! They’re drunk with power, and they need an intervention, then lots of rehab! Along with a quick exit from public office. (!)

Obama, Pelosi and Reid never had an original thought in their lives and combined they came up with Obamacare! Americans are finally seeing through them. Obama will be gone in 2012 and then Dick and Jane soon afterward.

I am not surprised at all by this. The gall and sheer boldness to continually lie to the American people is no surprise.

Wonderful job Our Speaker acts like an adult, – keeping the Government Open – this really required Guts! It is so manly and brave to Compromise to protect our people, this is just Very Impressive. Mr. Boehner and Mr. Cantor are reversing 2 years of stubbornness and “just saying no.” Also I am so proud of the Dems who did not leave town – even though they must have hated getting $4B in cuts! I think we finally have adults in charge!

He may be guaranteed a senate seat until 2016 but he will cease to be the Majority Leader in Jan, 2013. The SEIU will mourn his passing of the gavel.
