Border ‘Incursion’: Why Did Mexican Federal Police ‘Momentarily’ Cross Into U.S. Amid Gunfire?

KTSM-TV:

A national watchdog group says the Mexican Government incursion that happened just a few miles outside of El Paso could be a major security threat to the nation.

KVIA-TV:

EL PASO, Texas — Border Patrol officials are investigating an incursion by Mexican federal police into the United State on Thursday morning.

U.S. Border Patrol spokesman Doug Mosier said armed officers with Mexico’s Secretaria de Seguridad Publica federal police were in the incursion, which took place in El Paso, near the Border Patrol’s Ysleta station.

The Mexican government, Border Patrol and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department are investigating the incident. U.S. authorities responded to the incident.

An ABC-7 viewer contacted the station early Thursday, saying her son, husband and friends were hunting on the Rio Grande levy on the

U.S. side when men on the Mexico side fired shots, narrowly missing them. She said more men on the Mexico side drove up with automatic weapons and into to U.S. side. She said the armed men fired weapons and stole hunters’ chairs and drove back into Mexico.

KTSM-TV:

“This is a crisis situation on the border and unless a citizen seems to run into it as the hunters did, the government is not really going to tell you about it,” Tom Fitton said.

Fitton is the President of Judicial Watch, a national watchdog group in Washington DC. His organization won a fight with the government to gain access to information on border incursions and even obtained video of a border incursion that happened in El Paso in 2008. Fitton says, the data proves border incursions are happening at an alarming rate.

“We were shocked to find that the incidents involved shots fired on both sides of the border, unmarked helicopters invading U.S. airspace, drug smuggling and confrontations between U.S. Border Patrol Agents and armed members of the Mexican Military,” he said.

Fitton told us the data also shows some of the incursions weren’t accidents.

“The most recent incident, as reported by your station there, shows that it was not only purposeful, but criminal in the sense that they came over and seemingly robbed folks,” he said.

It’s a problem Fitton says is rising and could be dangerous to border security if ignored by Washington.

“What it means, and it shows, is the border is obviously un-secure and unsafe. With the recent restrictions regarding hunting on the border you have to wonder, who controls our territory? The Mexican Government or the U.S. Government?.”

El Paso Times:

Mexican federal police momentarily crossed the Rio Grande into the United States on Thursday morning in an incursion under investigation by both countries, a U.S. Border Patrol spokesman said.

The incursion occurred east of the Zaragoza Bridge while three hunters were on the U.S. side on the first day of dove season.

Agents arriving at the scene saw Mexican federal police crossing the river back into Mexico after they had been on the U.S. side, Mosier said.

Border Patrol officials said they did not receive any allegations that shots were fired across the border and had no information anything was stolen on the U.S. side. It is unknown why Mexican police crossed the border. The incident is under investigation.

A Mexican federal police spokesman could not be reached.

Let’s see here. Mexican side will lie and the U.S. Government will lie and then they will lie to us. Sounds like text book corruption to me. You can’t lie to the Americans who live on the border. You can silence them with our own media but you can’t lie to them.

They passed above ground because there are no border fences. I think Rick Perry is the only GOP candidate, minus Huntsman that is against the fences. Bachmann, Romney, Santorum have all spoken against the fence.

Actually it was Rick Perry that created two magnets to entice illegals. Instate Tuition for Illegals, health care through easier access, and a proposed bi-national health care system with Mexico, which luckily did not pass the beginning stages. Though he and all GOP candidates are 100x better than Obama. I want to find out more on all the candidates. That is why I turn to http://www.thedailycandidate.com. Why us tunnels when they can just drive across the bridges unchallenged? Armed Mexican soldiers have come right across the bridges (2 or 3 times) and the boarder agents just stand there like they don’t know what to do. And was there not a plane of armed Mexican soldiers that accidently (yea right) landed at a US air strip? Makes you think they are testing the US security to see what they can get away with. Sadly they are getting away with it.

My question is, why didn’t the hunters shoot the invaders? If they were close enough to see the mexicans stealing the hunter’s chairs, they were certainly close enough to kill several of them. The hunters would have been justified – the mexicans shot first.

Personally these US hunters have their heads up their butts or they are libs. You would think that living in that area they would realize to expect stuff like that, and if they don’t counter with their own firepower, they don’t need to be in the area. people better open their eyes and if they aren’t going to protect themselves, they we really don’t need to hear any crying about it. The Gubment isn’t going to save you, so you need to take appropriate measures to protect your self, not worry about killing some scrawny doves that don’t taste that good anyway. All we hear is how tough Texans are and how they take care of their own, unless they where waiting for a shipment themselves. Maybe the ATF will give them some of the guns they sold to the cartel’s to protect themselves, and show them how to use them, but we won’t hold our breath.

Remember the Patrick Swayze movie Red Dawn was an invasion of the midwest from the south but with at the time was portrayed as Cuban Military. Oh, but they just want a job (and benifits for their 8 kids and wife). You go to the social security office or the Department of Public Safety (DMV in other states) and it’s all you see. @RICKFROMILLINOIS It’s a Mormon thing, well, kind of. What I mean is it’s not officially taught by the Mormon Church (and no it doesn’t say Mexican or Indian in The Book of Mormon either). Some members of the Mormon Church believe that the Hispanic people (not just Mexicans) will one day turn on the United States and destroy the U.S. after the people have shown they are unwilling to obey God’s commandments. The words Mexican and Indian are never actually used and A LOT of inference is used by members of the LDS Church to claim it will be those people.

@MountainDew, I‘m Mormon and you don’t know what the heck you’re talking about. I’m someone who actively studies deep aspects of LDS teachings, wildly speculative things such as the White Horse prophecy, and I‘ve never even heard of what you’re talking about. Right now there are more Mormons in Mexico and South America than in the USA, by a rather significant margin. A high % of Mormons in the USA are also Spanish-speaking, because of the large numbers that have served two-year missions in Spanish-speaking countries. And in border states like Texas there are vast numbers of Mexican-American members. I live in the Austin area and most of the leadership in my ward and stake are Hispanic. Nearly every stake in the entire state also has at least one Spanish-speaking ward, some several. Native spanish speakers probably make up 1/5-1/4 of all Mormons in TX. Including second-language speakers probably half among adult Priesthood holders. I would say as a church (and religion) we have one of the absolute most liberal and embracing attitudes when it comes to hispanic culture. I know of no fear regarding Mexicans, Indians, or anybody. We do believe that we are living in the last days, as does all of Christianity, anybody that believes in the Second Coming.

      Abbygirl;

“They are called the Lamanites.. and God has promised to unleash them on us if we do not repent and turn to him. ”

i figured that’s what you were going with but frankly that is NOT what the LDS Church teaches in our times. the lamanites were the enemies of the Lord in the Book of Mormon times though tere were definite times where the Lamanites were more righteous than the Nephites and thus received the Lord’s blessings more abundantly than the Nephites. But the way I read it, if we are not righteous then the Lord will unleash enemies upon this land but those enemies are not defined as far as I can tell. I think those who disintigrate and devalue family, God, and godly virtues are among those who’ll destroy this land and that is hardly exclusive to any one race or ethnic group.

I do agree 100% that sin and destruction do go hand in hand.

If you are from the “baby boomer” generation …. well, all I can say is, it’s sad that you do not understand why it is unacceptable if another country invades this country — for watever reason. During the 11th through 18th centuries, Europeans and Eurasians invaded the Americas, accompanied by charters and contracts which precisely detailed pre-meditated murder and extermination of the people to whom these lands had belonged for a very long time. When the indigenous people tried to rebuff those invasions, they were labeled “savages” and referred to as “non-humans.” So, I will be very interested in learning what reason Congress and bHo and his ilk will have for taking no official action to rebuff Mexico’s repeated invasions of our country. Is some kind of precedent being laid down for a future turning back to Mexico of our southern border lands? After all, Pima County, AZ, and thirteen of California’s southernmost counties are already in litigation to secede.

@ JZS What is a Mexican Authority now days? Half of them work for the Cartels. Especially if we’re talking about so called authorities on the border. These hunters may have been mistaken for armed Minute Men. The armed response from the Mexican “Authorities” may have simply been a scare tactic to clear the way for drug mules etc.. I agree that Mexico isn’t in a positon itself to cause a security threat. That troubled nation can barely keep itself together. But I wouldn’t dismiss the danger of armed cartel activity now crossing into our territory and threatenting our own citizens. It‘s not just a Mexican problem anymore if that’s the case.

They don’t have to resort to this tactic when they can now just drive the drugs in by the tractor trailer load legally now. I am sure some of our government officials are in the drug trade and the Mexican cartels are in the shipping business. The real problem sadly is the Americans (that’s us) consumption of the drugs.

Personally here are the most likely scenarios as I see these incursions over the last few months:

    A. Smugglers allied with the Mexican border police, trying to hold onto smuggling and drug routes.

    B. Narco-terrorist cartels are making a play to cross the border and seize control part of the border states for themselves from the United States.

    C. Terrorist bands, such as Hezbollah and recently “Iraqi smugglers” caught infiltrating the border are disguising themselves as Mexican border guards and military forces; purpose is to destabalize the borders, intensify hatered between the nations, and probe for weaknesses to be exploited by them and any allied forces (such as the narco cartels).

    D. A combination of terrorist and narco cartels seeking to cause enough of a disruption that the US under Obama will move to fortify the border or actually invade Mexico in the name of “national interest and security” to establish a buffer zone or such. If the invasion comes, then they will use established bases and operatives to start slaughtering the US troops and strikes into US territory in response to the ‘hostile actions done to the innocent people of Mexico.”

I have to wonder just how much of this Obama is letting happen, and how much he is instigating on the behalf of his extremist terrorist allies?

Snow i know you live in Arizona and with the gun laws they have there and the number of gun owners do you really think that they stand much of a chance of “taking back” the border states and making them part of Mexico. Now as far as California goes, well that state i am sorry to say is a lost cause and since the state is already 40% Mexican they already own it, no great loss the rest of the state is made up of hippy s, progressives and left wing nut jobs.

      @M 4 Colt:

If any of the narco cartels decided indeed to try and take AZ, or Texas, the body count on their part, of dead cartel members would be horrendous indeed. The thing is though, I do talk with people and we do the “what if” scenarios, and these are the four most common we keep coming up with.

And mind you, in these discussion groups, on many topics, we always have one or two (prefered two) to play the devils advocate and attempt to logically tear things to peices. Yet in the case of a cartel striking out northward, success or fail, would give Obama an excuse to make a further mess of things and grab more power indeed.

Always to me, when the most illogical scenarios are dismissed come two events of history:

Chamberlain saying, while waving a peice of paper “We have peace in our time…”
So called Mid-East experts saying “Saddam Hussein will never invade Kuwait, he is bluffing…”

Just because we dismiss the idea as illogical, does not make it the same for someone else. Especially if they have the common sense of a terrorist or cartel leader; i.e. none.

      @ M4 Colt

I believe it may be the same scenario as what’s being played out in the UK. The Muslim incursion into the fabric of their society and using their (UK’s) laws against them to proliferate. Same happening in the US, esp. in the border states. The one’s we “took” from Mexico during the Mexican-American War in the 1840′s.

Infuse yourself into the society, become an entrenched member of that society and use it’s own laws to your favor. Garnish as much as you can from the working class until the system collapses and then take over. They have guns too. The Reconquista’s and the Mexican Drug Cartels and the Latino Gangs will all work together in this attempt.

“It is not our fault that whites don’t make babies, and blacks are not growing in sufficient numbers, and there’s no other groups with such a goal to put their homeland back together again. We do. Those numbers will make it possible. I believe that in the next few years, we will see an irredentists movement, beyond assimilation, beyond integration, beyond separatism, to putting Mexico back together as one. That’s irridentism. One Mexico, one nation.”–Jose Angel Guiterrez-Poli Sci Prof at University of Texas 1999. Source Wikipedia.

Throw a little extra help from New Black Panthers, any Radical Islamic element and yes it is possible that it could happen from within our borders and from outside our borders in coordination.

I’m tired of these “incursions”. First there was the military trucks entering the U.S and the mexican govt said that they didn’t know the area that well and accidentally crossed into the U.S. Then it was the helicopter that landed in the U.S to reasons I don’t even remember, but now we have this “incursion”. I say if they do it again then you light em up like a christmas tree. Sounds like a national security threat and I was that hunter I’d be firing back.

I say all of this is dry runs. Or maybe I just like the movie “Red Dawn” too much. Either way, if the Army ain’t here to defend us, and the Border Patrol is stretched too thin, then the local Citizens/Militia should (and do) have the right to fire on them. Especially if they fire 1st. If I can shoot an intruder in my home, anybody should be able to shoot an intruder in our country.

Just another reason we need a real border wall. screw the “fence” concept.
Nip it in the bud and be done with already.

Nice concept if the global elite didn’t call the shots.
Just like you said, they want social chaos.
United we stand, Divided we fall.
They want a NAU – North American Union
The Global elite do not want a border. The Agenda21 map calls it the 124 mile wide International Zone of Cooperation or Border 21.
Diversity worked for America for centuries; Come here and be a proud American and enjoy our culture.
Multiculturalism is destroying our country; Come here and denounce America and it’s culture.
It is destroying the social fabric of our Country, and getting worse daily.
Our Country is under an all-out economic and social attack.

Shame shame Dave, you should know that Ron Paul is strongly for closing the border using the troops we bring home from Iraq and Afghanistan. That’s REAL firepower.

Paul would use executive authority to direct the military to close the border. We’d finally be safe.

The others, including West, would try to get congress to pass laws or to fund something, which is a losing battle.
