Boston Set to Restrict Knife Sales

Legally buying a handgun in Boston is already impossible for most citizens, but soon it may become much harder to purchase even a pocketknife in Beantown.Boston Set to Restrict Knife Sales

Yes, some Boston politicians believe that if you make it harder to buy something with a sharp edge, there will be fewer stabbings. Apparently, Boston has had 1300 such attacks over the past two years.

The Boston City Council will meet tomorrow to vote on the ordinance, which would require a licensing process for the sale of knives. Boston already dictates the type of knives that can be sold, but this new legislation would allow the state to continuously keeps its hands on anyone who sells everything from Swiss Army Knives to machetes.

It is unclear if sale of chef’s knives, which often have 8-inch-long, razor sharp blades, will be covered by the new regulations, but the impact on fine dining around Beacon Hill could be severe.

Even without this legislation, Boston is far from a 2nd Amendment haven.

Current Massachusetts law bans all sorts of weapons and imposes draconian prison terms for their possession. Many knives such as switchblades are illegal outright. You need a license to carry pepper spray.  One could guess this has made the city much safer from rogue female joggers.

Boston Set to Restrict Knife Sales

For the aspiring ninjas out there, be forewarned: Massachusetts has already banned nunchakus, Kung Fu Sticks, and throwing stars, punishable by no less than two-and-a-half years in prison.

The lengthy sentences under Boston extend to firearms as well. Have a sawed-off shotgun? Or an automatic weapon? You could get life in prison.

Watch the video below, courtesy of MyFoxBoston, and hear the politicians behind the knife bill make their case for regulations that they claim won‘t be ’onerous’:

It‘s a shame that we can’t ban the pointy-headed idiots in City Hall.

Remember: It’s no fun being stupid unless you can prove it publicly.

City Hall is packed with people having fun (as is the State House).

Idiots. What are you going to cut your steak with? Slice bread? I use my butcher knife every day from A-Z. Reminds me of a TV show years ago about a couple’s house covered with a bubble and gas was fed into it. The couple couldn’t get out without something sharp to cut the heavy covering. They searched the house and someone had taken all the knives, scissors and sharp objects.

MORAL: “Take away knives, scissors and guns and only criminals will have knives, scissors & guns.”

Daniel, if you ban “pointy-headed idiots in City Hall”, then City Hall will be full of them. When they banned drugs we got more of them. When they banned alcohol we were beseiged with drunkards. When they declared war on poverty we got more poor people. Anything the Govt bans flourishes. A govt ban is fertilizer for whatever is banned.

Right, just cross the state line and get what you want. I have a letter opener that is sharper than most of my knives, would they take that away? Also, I’ve carried a pen knife on my keys for most of my life, except when the airlines considered it a weapon, kinda like my comb that had lifters set in plastic on the end and broke off often while doing my hair, so it was a very lethal weapon (at least in Peru) after going through 5-6 airports on trip with this comb. Dam, didn’t stab anyone either! (didn’t want to break my comb.) Carry a sharp pencil, the best weapon in a pinch.

In China, when a person wants to buy a kitchen knife, the police have to be present to register the “weapon” and they have to sign their life away in order to cut up vegetables. If you don’t think that America is fast becoming a repressive nation, think again.

No problem. For the most part, I’m a Blunt-Force-Trauma user myself.

Next will be spoons. Got a clue for you, Boston, it‘s not the weapon that’s the problem, it’s the wielder.

We have to keep those flash mobs safe from the citizenry. Only criminals and cops get to defend themselves.

You might as well ban pens and pencils. Get caught with a sharp stick and it is prison for you. Someone has to stop these out of control control freaks. Issue our cops and military slingshots. Liberalism is a mental disorder for sure.

This is the same way the blade bans started in Great Britain. Wake up America you are being disarmed!

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Any law abiding citizen arrested for a gun or knife in boston need only appeal the case. An appeal is guaranteed and so is a win.

Yes, you’ll be able to use a steak knife…after you have taken the requisite safety courses, applied for the permits, and had a thorough backround check done to make sure you actually eat steak.
