Boy Who Visited Heaven Is Mocked By MSNBC Host

This morning, on NBC’s top-rated show, “Today,” Matt Lauer spent considerable time with Colton Burpo, the young boy from Nebraska who claims that he visited heaven during an operation that saved his life.
Colton’s story became a New York Times, non-fiction, best-seller called “Heaven Is For Real.” But the Today Show was not the young man’s first big media interview, he’s been on other national tv shows including a Fox News Network appearance last Fall with Gretchen Carlson.
After this moving interview, the Colton Burpo story took a strange turn.
While doing some background interview for this story, I also stumbled into a clip of MSNBC‘s ’rising star’ Cenk Uygur. Prior to sliding into the 6pm slot on MSNBC, Uygur hosted an internet-based political opinion show called The Young Turks.
Mr. Uygur is heard rudely laughing at the interview, and laughs loudest when the young boy is asked about seeing Jesus. Is this what MSNBC considers to be the right talent for their 6pm time slot? The young boy talks about seeing Jesus and mentions that Jesus large enough to hold everyone in his hands. Cenk Uygur seems to take great pleasure in mocking Colton Burpo’s experience. He also seems to be confused, claiming that the child said Jesus was an obese, blue-eyed man with a great smile.
Uygur mocked the the young boy, the family, Jesus, and Fox News for doing the story. I wonder how he feels about NBC and Matt Lauer dedicating almost seven minutes of prime morning airtime to what obviously is a captivating piece of news? After all, the New York Times put the boy’s book atop the Non-Fiction List. . . If the New York Times considers it to be true, why doesn’t Cenk Uygur?

Just like the saying” Just because your paranoid doesn’t mean there is no one following you” However, I have learned from my Bible, and my church that Jesus is a big boy, and can take the insults, and the insults and the bad mouthing roll right off His back. He’s heard them all, and seen them all suffered them all right here on plant earth.. He just considers the source, as do I. Also He does say not to cast pearls before swine. DUUUHHH! The book is in the non-fiction category because it is his version of what happened to him, like biographies and such. It doesn’t mean that the events are true! Where did you graduate? Posted on March 22, 2011 at 2:19amI’m not taht familiar with the Bible -too much corruption and changes by the Catholic church over the years for me to take it as is. That said – there is a passage where I beleive Paul states“ the Lord has many houses” – taken to mean there are many paths to God – not just one. Then, who are we to question how God or Jesus would present themselves to a young boy? Would he not as an act of comfort, appear to the boy in a familiar guise – with blue eyes say? I would suspect that if this was a small African boy – God’s eyes would have been brown. I believe in a Supreme Being – without all the Cecil B. DeMille accurtrements. I‘m not so egotistical to expect that I can fathom even an iota of God’s mind. Is there a Supreme Being. Yes – do I understand what he/she/it wants – no. Do I believe leading as moral a life as I can will not send me to hell (loss of God’s light/love) – yes. Does the 10 commandments lay out that morality – yes – just as it does in many other religions that express the same idea without the number’d sequence. Laugh at this boy – no way. Laugh at Pat Robertson and the 900′ Jesus on the beach. Yea – sorry, but Pat Robertson is just too laughable was was Baker and others.

Posted on March 23, 2011 at 12:31pmYou are incorrect. When Jesus said, “In my Father’s house there are many mansions”, that is what he meant. You cannot translate manions into “paths”. There is only one Lord, one faith, one God and Father that is above all in all the through all”. Straight is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to eternal life and few there be that find it. Wide is the path that leads to destruction and many that go therein.
Report Post »I don’t rely on stories on heaven to prove that God is real. Also, it is not good to share it with the world, Jesus said, “do not throw bread unto the dogs neither throw your pearls before swine unless they turn and rent at you again and again”. Matthew 7:21-23
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
John 14:1-6
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
THERE ARE NOT MANY PATHS THAT LEAD TO HEAVEN, ONLY ONE; AND IT IS A NARROW PATH! “MANSIONS”, IS FROM THE TRANSLITERATED GREEK WORD “MONAI”. THE DEFINITION IS: LODGING, DWELLING-PLACE, ROOM, ABODE, MANSION (Strong’s Concordance #3438). MANSIONS DOES NOT MEAN PATHS, IT MEANS MANSIONS. PATHS IS FROM THE TRANSLITERATED GREEK WORD “TRIBOUS”. THE DEFINITION IS: A WORN PATH, BEATEN WAY, ROAD, HIGHWAY (Strong’s Concordance #5147). YOU JUST CAN’T SUBSTITUTE WORDS THAT YOU LIKE BETTER, FOR THE ONES THAT GOD PUT THERE TO START WITH, BECAUSE THAT IS CORRUPTION. THE AUTHORIZED KING JAMES VERSION OF THE BIBLE IS STILL THE MOST ACCURATE AND IT ISN’T A CATHOLIC VERSION OF THE BIBLE, BUT IF YOU DON’T TRUST IT EITHER, THEN READ THE ORIGINAL GREEK FOR YOURSELF. YOU CAN READ THE ENGLISH WORD, THE TRANSLITERATED GREEK WORD, AND THE GREEK WORD, PLUS THE STRONG’S NUMBER OF THAT WORD, COMPLETE WITH ALL OF THE POSSIBLE MEANINGS OF THAT WORD AT: http://biblos.com/

John 14:2
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?
A house with many rooms does not imply many paths. Oprah Winfrey got grilled by the audience for saying that there were “many paths to God” Jesus clearly states in…
John 14:6
Jesus said unto him, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.

There are things that can’t be explained and no one knows what this young child saw. Only he does and it is not my place to dispute what a person claims they have seen. I certainly would never mock anyone for their beliefs.
Yes it may be hard to believe. One would have to know the family and their background and those are the things I don’t have any knowledge of. If it happened as the boys father said then it appears factual. I don’t know if the facts are true but I do believe that it is very possible.
There are some people that will exploit their family for publicity and I am not saying this is one of them. As I said, I willl choose to believe the story until such time facts come out to disprove it.
I just do not like the tact that Uygur used in this clip. He is saying what is real and what is not real with no knowledge of what Heaven is like or not like. That he doesn’t want to dis the kid then disses him. I have seen youtube clips of this joker while looking around and have not been able to finish watching any of them for the same reason I detest lookiing at this one.

My question is why so many people feel the need to mock people of faith??
I’m not sure why people mock those who have faith. Is it because they themselves feel so limited in their own selves that it is beyond their comprehension there could be anything truly great.
Maybe it’s because small, petty people tend to mock the things they fear yet know they’ll never have.

Posted on March 22, 2011 at 2:01amI believe this child’s story because I also had an out-of-body experience at age five. Children this young do not have the knowledge or experience to make something like this up. I floated out of my body towards the ceiling, and somehow managed to turn myself around – where I was shocked to see myself on a bed.
That shocked me back into my body (along with a great deal of pain from my head injury). I immediately told my parents about this, but they said that I must have been dreaming. The thing is that I described my head injury before I looked into a mirror.
As “Showtime” above has said, I also have vivid dreams that come true just as I’ve dreamed them. I also can tell when someone will soon die. The last person that I knew would soon die, left this earth in early February of this year.
Whether or not one believes in any particular religion, there is “something” that exists after one’s body dies. This young boy believes in “Heaven” because he was taught that Heaven exists. Other beliefs may call Heaven something else.
Having left my own body as a young child, I KNOW that there is a spirit or soul, or whatever one chooses to call it, because I experienced it for myself.

“I floated out of my body towards the ceiling, and somehow managed to turn myself around – where I was shocked to see myself on a bed.”
That’s what I did — float out of my body towards the ceiling. Since my side of the bunk was under the aft deck, I managed to turn on the plane rather than get more vertical before going through the transom. And it was, as you said, like I managed to change positions.
That angel who stopped me had wings that reached all the way down to the bottom of his robe. Full body-length wings.
Thank you.

Posted on March 22, 2011 at 10:54amI am another. I was 12, had been ill for a few days, and decided to take a nice, hot bath in an attempt to get to feeling better.
As I stood to climb out of the tub I was suddenly viewing myself from above and watched as I fell forward into the sink and bounced back into the tub, arms and legs askew. Mom heard the banging around and rushed the door which I had locked out of preteen modesty. As she was pounding on the other side of the door everything went momentarily dark and I “awoke” back in the tub. When I unlocked the door the first things out of my mouth were “I saw it all from the ceiling!” Mom (and the dr who put 22 stitches in to close the gaping hole I’d managed to put on my forehead) both thought it was “a concussion” that was causing me to say such things. They didn’t understand I saw it before I ever hit my head.
No one was ever able to explain why I’d “passed out and hit my head”.

I appreciate your honesty82! I always believed in God my whole life; told people I was a Christian, but I didn’t really have faith. Strong FAITH until I started reading the Bible about a year ago. I‘m an avid reader and one day wondered why I’d avoided one of the greatest books ever. So I bought an easy to read Bible and started reading it. And things started falling into place. Started to make sense. Then I started tagging along with my daughter to church now and then. And it felt so good, so comforting to be in a place where God is the main topic and everybody in the room deeply believes it. It’s the one place I could go to listen and learn and my questions and thoughts about religion were never criticized or mocked. And church is now one of the few places I feel “at home” in.
It’s been an interesting journey.

I had double pnewmonia in Florida while I was on the boat one year. I died and rose upwards from my body and went through the stern of the boat. An angel with HUGE wings told me to go back. I said I didn’t want to go back because I felt awful back there. I wanted to go “that way.” As I started off, he wrapped his huge wings around me and held me there. The wings were the softest things I had ever touched. They were like the softest microfiber or softest suede you can imagine. He said it was not time for me yet. I told him okay and he let me loose. Back through the stern of the boat I went and lowered myself back into my body.
The strange part is what has happened in the years since. Until that time, I dreamed every night, and I probably still do. The difference is that, NOW, IF I REMEMBER A DREAM, IT WILL COME TRUE. That has been the case for the past 20 years, ever since that happened.

Matthew 4:5 Then the Devil took him along into the holy city, and he stationed him upon the battlement of the temple 6 and said to him: “If you are a son of God, hurl yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will give his angels a charge concerning you, and they will carry you on their hands, that you may at no time strike your foot against a stone.’” 7 Jesus said to him: “Again it is written, ‘You must not put Jehovah your God to the test.’”
8 Again the Devil took him along to an unusually high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory, 9 and he said to him: “All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me.” 10 Then Jesus said to him: “Go away, Satan! For it is written, ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’” 11 Then the Devil left him, and, look! angels came and began to minister to him.

Posted on March 22, 2011 at 1:01amJust read this touching book last week — could hardly put it down and lost sleep as I read late into the night. This family does not deserve the derision they received from Uygur, formerly of The Young Jerks, or was that Turks?
Jesus cautioned that His servants should not expect to be treated better than their Master; what a shame for an adult to publicly attack a young child and his family this way. When Uygur speaks, we don’t learn anything about this family but do learn a lot about the type of person Uyger is at heart.

Posted on March 22, 2011 at 1:14amOkay. I have asked this question many times of many people for years. I’ll try it again here. Maybe someone can help me:
I do believe in God. I am not terribly secure in that belief. I don’t really understand it very well. I know for a fact I should not be here. Even with all of my training, the great people I served with and whatever intelligence I have I should be dead several times over. Ergo there is more to life than meets the eye.
I can deal with that. My question is why so many people feel the need to mock people of faith?? And it certainly doesn’t stop there. It gets much worse than mocking and downright vicious at times. I have seen it tonight on The Blaze. I freely admit that I am jealous of folks with deep religious beliefs. I see the strength & comfort they receive from their faith. I would still not deride other people simply because I am jealous or don’t understand. It isn’t because I am such a swell guy. Trust me I am not all that nice of a person. It would just never occur to me.

I don’t know where to begin. I asked my daddy if he believed in God. My daddy never lied, not to me, not to anyone. He couldn’t stand a liar or a thief. He said he believed in God and asked me to look around. Could I do what God had done to create the world, the regularity of the seasons, to put life into a person. God had made me his daughter, too, and I felt I had the best daddy around.
During an impossible time in my life, after I’d lost my job was three months behind on everything, was about to end up on the street with no place to go, I took my neighbor’s advice and filed for Social Security. I think that because my first husband was a veteran who served during a time of war, I received an amount over and above what I would have gotten otherwise, and the total amount was enough for me to make it each month. The room filled with a golden light, and I felt the arms of Jesus around me! I have never felt so loved in my life.
Because I had written a letter of inquiry two months earlier, in THREE DAYS enough had been deposited into my checking account to COMPLETELY catch me up on my bills! On the third Wednesday, my first regular monthly check was deposited.
I was in church one night, and Nathan Cavenaugh was the deacon and had the service that night. At the end, he asked us all to pray. He urged us to tell the Lord about anything that was troubling us. He continued to urge and would then not speak for a few moments. “Is there anything else you would like the Lord to take off of your shoulders, any burden you would like lifted?” Finally, when he felt that we had had sufficient time to sweep out all of our troubles and asked the Lord to dispose of them for us, he ended the prayer. I felt absolutely pure inside! That’s what faith will do for you.
God is Who gives us HOPE. God is Who gives us CHANGE. Hope and change come from the Lord, not some smooth-talking long-legged Mack Daddy from Kenya who came from a broken home and was raised by Communists!

May I most respectfully refer you to the first Chapter of the Book of Romans, with particular attention to verses 16-32? I would highlight verse 21: “For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God, or give thanks; but they became futile in their speculations and their foolish hearts were darkened.”
The rest of the chapter goes on to explain what happens to someone who does this. Basically, those who do not believe see those who are believers as “fools”, and that‘s okay because that’s all they can do. It’s where they are at. If you are interested, please take a look at I Peter 2: 7-8.
I’m not interested in starting a religious argument or getting into semantics here. I’m just answering your question. I think the unbelievers are compelled to mock and deride simply out of their own conviction. For me, I see it as a sad place to be in, and pray for them, but they believe they are right. Some day, they may change their minds, but until then, that is what they are going to do.

They‘re afraid of what they can’t understand because they won’t open up to that possiblity, afraid because if they do beleive it will end everything they ahve been taught all their lives. And I think a large part of the fear is envy, we can beleive in something great and they can’t get heir tiny little minds around it.

Because if they admit that God exists they have to admit that they are sinners, which we all are, and many are just to vain to do that or just enjoy living in sin so much they are not willing to give that up. They want to believe that they have all the answers, they want to believe that they can do whatever they want without God telling them it’s wrong. So it‘s easier to just believe He doesnt’ exist.
In my personal opinion the extent to which one will go in criticizing or mocking God says a lot about whats in their heart. If someone doesn’t believe but tries to do whats right and be a good person for the sake of humanity, they won’t necessarily have a problem with others for believing. But if they feel guilty because they know they are not a good person or they know that they are living in what the Bible considers sin then they get defensive about it and feel that they have to tear it down to justify their own actions or thoughts. Just like an adulterer is likely to blame the spouse for being overbearing, uncaring or emotionally unstable to justify their own cheating, a sinner who is unwilling to change will do the same when it comes to God. Again, just my humble opinion ;)

Like most bullies, they think if they mock you or worse, they will silence you from spreading the word of salvation to others.
By the way, you say you aren’t secure in your belief. I suggest you have a real honest conversation with God and if you haven’t invited Jesus into your life, try it. Feel his love. Trust in him, that is faith. Remember, if you ask forgiveness, all that is past is forgotten. That means you can leave it behind too and have renewed hope. No matter what you have done in the past, you are worthy of his love. All you have to do is ask. I hope you find that unshakable faith.
Also I agree with a simple man Hebrews 11:1 and 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Posted on March 22, 2011 at 7:37amI’ve watched a lot of these type of stories on a show called “I Survived – Beyond and Back”. It runs on Bio channel now and again. I always record the new ones and have my kids watch it with me.
None of the stories are exactly the same, but they’re usually very similar. You can see the emotion in the people’s faces as they tell their stories. They tell of experiencing love, peace, and instant understanding of their life events. Some even say God spoke to them in a voice, which sounds like thunder and/or a huge waterfall. They all say things like “time didn’t exist or was irrelevant”. I’m convinced time is just an illusion for the living. A necessary illusion, but an illusion, nonetheless. Einstein‘s theory of relativity tells us time isn’t as linear as we think it is and supports this, at least in my opinion.
Most of the people who tell their stories say they’re no longer afraid of dying or, in some cases, look forward to it so they can return. The one episode, which really struck me, was the guy who went to Hell. He said he know instantly where he was and didn’t question why he was there. He understood immediately what eternity meant, and there was no escaping the horror that was Hell. He was later “rescued” by God and heard him say, in the voice like thunder, “It is not yet your time”. That man has since changed his life dramatically, he said.
It’s a very powerful show and will strengthen your faith. I highly recommend watching it.

You have to remember that the Progressives/Communists/Far Left/Muslims- whatever you want to call the people that want to destroy America- have to destroy Christianity. That’s why you see the Left/Muslims constantly villifying Christianity.
If you don’t know it, our country was founded on Christian principles. Unfortunately, the morals of our country have been eroded by a concerted effort to eliminate those principles. Demonize/Marginalize Christianity by taking it out of the schools, off of municipal buildings, out of town squares, and you are on your way to eventually destroying the morals we need as a free society.
Replace those religious/moral underpinnings with multiculturalism nonsense, and you get what you see in France and England. To the far-left, there is no better way to attack America that to erase Christianity from our lives through constant attacks on it’s principles.

This boy saw what the Lord God wanted him to see that would comfort him, that would give him hope, that would say to this boy in no uncertain terms there is greater reward in choosing good.
The young Turk laughs it up out of fear–nothing else, but fear. Apparently in his life what little he’s seen of the Lord God has frightened him to the roots of his being, to the point where he stopped looking to the Lord God and started looking to men for his salvation. Nothing is more frightening than the unknown, unless it is an unknown that is also incapable of being controlled. I pity the man, I really do, because the greatest punishment of any soul I can think of would be that moment of realization that your life on Earth was a lie, that every good thing you’ve ever done was in vain because you had no faith, only fear. Existing with the knowledge that you disappointed your Creator as well as yourself would be a greater torment than any burning hell ever devised by the minds of men. If you’re me, you have to wonder, too, if a soul tormented like that wouldn’t beg for another chance to rectify his egregious error. Were it me, I know I would, which may be the basis of reincarnation. Only the Lord God knows.

He will need a LOT of it. He doesn’t realize that he is probably on borrowed time because everything happens for a reason, including the fact that this boy testified to those who God wanted to hear. We all have a choice to make until God decides your heart will never change and then it’s over for you, one way or another. I didn’t see Jesus as huge. He was great and soft looking, wore a white robe and had brown eyes, mesmerizing eyes. The love and peace that enveloped me was beyond explanation. I couldn’t even begin. There were no words, just thoughts and I knew it was not yet my time. God bless this boy and anyone else who believes in Jesus!

Posted on March 22, 2011 at 12:31pmCenk should not laugh at the boy. Mental illness is not something to be mocked. We know have come to interpret Saint Augustine’s description of his encounter with God as an epileptic seizure, which he suffered from for much of his life. We also know that certain changes in brain chemistry occurring at moments of near-death experience can cause the consistent descriptions seen in many accounts of “meeting one’s maker.” This hardly constitutes proof of heaven. So those who are skeptical ought to be lauded rather than criticized. On the other hand, it is impossible to disprove the existence of pink unicorns, UFO abductions and God, so while we socially should learn to keep our fantasies to ourselves, we should also not laugh too much at folks who have experienced these mental states since they feel real enough to those going through them. Moreover, the person in question in this case is a child, so additional care and understanding is merited. Kudos to Cenk for being a rational skeptic, but shame on him for laughing at a child with at least a temporary mental aberration. But shame on Beck for shamelessly profiting from this constant war-on-Christianity meme–it’s so exploitative and divisive.

The existence of God is completely falsifiable. All you have to do is prove that everything can be accounted for through scientific determinism.
Unfortunately, since you need free will in order to go through the process of proving anything, and free will is, by definition, not deterministic, the existence of God is actually proven by the existence of free will.

“The existence of God is completely falsifiable. All you have to do is prove that everything can be accounted for through scientific determinism.”
Wow. You are a doctor, but you know so little about science. That is really scary. A few little hints for you: 1) Science approaches all knowledge as probabilistic, so nothing is ever completely disproven, just highly unlikely. 2) Moreover, science only deals with the empirical realm, which religion has generally retreated from, including this boy’s claims of a higher, unobservable heaven. 3) No scientist would claim that we can eradicate religion, since it is mathematically impossible to prove a negative (i.e., the non-existence of God).
“Unfortunately, since you need free will in order to go through the process of proving anything, and free will is, by definition, not deterministic, the existence of God is actually proven by the existence of free will.”
Have you even attempted to read Darwin? His work is extremely important since it shows that more complex organization can come from lower level precedents. What’s more, the greater complexity is not held captive to the precedent. So structures can be “freed” for new purposes unencumbered by the prior structures. Hence, we can use thumbs in a way that whales cannot use their front fins. What’s more, the development of that thumb gives rise to tool-making that whales did not experience. This can evolve higher levels of thinking and symbol manipulation, which give rise to culture, literature, even religion. It also creates a mind large and flexible enough to have consciousness and free will. You do not need God to explain its existence, nor do you need to rely upon material determinism, since it didn’t have to turn out that way. But once that spark of consciousness and free will came about, the older strictures on thinking started to lesson. They remain there, but not to the point of making free will impossible.
There is much we do not know about the mind and how it evolved, but that is the best theory we have today. And it doesn’t require God. Sorry to say.

Posted on March 22, 2011 at 3:24pmThis was a four year old boy under anesthesia, and could have been in and out of semi consciousness.
We can think about this and we can logically assume he was in and out of dream state.
And to understand the purpose of a person going to heaven we can read some of it in Revelation 5:6-10.
But look at verse 9 and 10, The twenty-four older persons are saying to Jesus :
And they sing a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, because you were slaughtered and with your blood you bought persons for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, 10 and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.”
This is their purpose, their assignment, to act as priests to our God and to rule as kings over the earth.
Now, my friends, do we really think this four year old boy went there for a visit?
When a person goes to heaven, he or she does not come back.

With all due respect, it takes more faith to believe that there is no God and this all just “happened” then it does to believe in a Creator. To believe in Darwinism, or the big bang theory, whatever, is like saying if you took all the parts of a clock, completely dismantled, and put them in a big box, then rapidly shook that box for a million years and opened it, you would find a perfectly functioning clock. Personally, I believe you can have no clock without the Clockmaker.
Then there is the question… where did you get the parts of the clock to begin with?

Exactly. It is clear that this NBC fellow does not read anything or view anything else but left-wing controversy. I, too, had an encounter with the Lord and Savior and I only tell that story when the Holy Spirit leads me to. I too have had an epiphanal experience with God. I was in a backyard pool with my girlfriend, a hot Georgia summer day, and i glanced toward the sky and was captivated.
I had never known my Father, nor any Father really except my Grandfather….another long story.
But when i looked up, I felt embraced, as by a Father, with a love i had never known before and a voice in my head “Not now, but when the time comes, you will know’, or something like that.
The words are unclear, but the message was crystal.
I was told there are plans for me and to stay vigilant.
Now, i didn’t have a vision, and no angel appeared before me. Just a hug and some words.
But.
My life for the last 12 years or so has seemed to be driven, protected. there have been countless times when i was at my absolute end, and a “miricle” event would occure to bring me from the brink.
Now I may not be a smart man, but tying those events in my life signifies to me something more powerful than my own ability to control my destiny through personal actions.
I have always believed in “providence”, which I describe as walking a path. You have an object in your path, it is your choice to pick it up or leave it be. You have a split in your path. You have the choice to take left or right. All of these personal decisions make up your “fate’, but it is all still chosen by the individual.

Report Post »EXCELLENT arguement! I wish i had the education to say what you have, never got the chance!
I have studied darwinism against nearly every religion on the planet, back to the Sumarian beliefs that the “gods” came down and forced the Sumarians to mine gold for them, in exchange gave mankind mathematics, geometry, advanced physiology and astrophysics to include advanced trigonometry.
I don’t know what this means in the grand scheme, or even if it matters. All I know is I was born with such an imaginative and analytical brain, and i have contemplated for the last 28 years, and I KNOW God has spoken to me, and we are in the times we are.
In my life, and my studies, all I know is Acts 2:38, “And Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Repentance. How can you argue with that? The act of repentance requires you to look back on the actions and deeds one’s self has committed in his life, and be truely sorry for the things that were wrong to do. Maybe not even sinful, but just mean, or bad…no what Christ would have wanted you to do.
if nothing else, Christ was a teacher ofphilosophy, and the way to treat everyone else around you, and if all persons acted with that philosophy in mind, then there would be no “evil” acts in this world.
That is the basis of Christian philosophy, and the basis of my faith and hope in mankind.

John (who wrote Revelation) did, Peter had a vision of heaven and described it for us. You cannot say that with a full understanding of the Bible.

Posted on March 23, 2011 at 8:13amThere’s a saying: If you show your child too much, then they will achieve little. Do you ever wonder how it is that a preacher’s son can turn into a progressive, or how a company owner’s child can inherit and lose a company? They were shown too much not knowing the steps along the path; not knowing the rungs on the ladder; and have died inside, and therefore their fathers shown too much of the father’s face. Therefore, ask yourself who has seen the face of the Father?

Posted on March 23, 2011 at 7:15pmMany comments here reflect a belief in a person visiting heaven at near death.
Be careful people, Satan is a master deceiver causing confusion as to what is truth.
Consider these three scriptures:
2 Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid that somehow, as the serpent seduced Eve by its cunning, YOUR minds might be corrupted away from the sincerity and the chastity that are due the Christ.
2 Corinthians 11:14 And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light.
2 Thessalonians 2:9-10 But the lawless one’s presence is according to the operation of Satan with every powerful work and lying signs and portents 10 and with every unrighteous deception for those who are perishing, as a retribution because they did not accept the love of the truth that they might be saved.
The idea of visiting heaven in a near death situation is NOT a scriptural teaching.
