Braves outfielder Matt Diaz has a powerful swing when he picks up a bat. But as one red-suited, streaking fan found out in Philadelphia last night, he’s also got a powerful leg whip:
You might be wondering, “where are the police?” As the Braves announcer points out, the police have been banned from subduing streaking fans in Philadelphia since an incident where they used a taser on a 17-year-old, field-bound fan.
According to ESPN, field security handles all fan apprehension at Philadelphia baseball games, and police only step in “if more force is necessary.”

Posted on September 22, 2010 at 2:31pmIs it still streaking if you are wearing a red body suit? Technically, I think not.

Posted on September 22, 2010 at 10:01amIf you are dumb enough to jump onto the baseball field during an active game, you deserve to be tackled, clothes lined, tasered, or what ever it takes to bring the idiot down (short of shooting them). You are trespassing by entering the field.

Posted on September 21, 2010 at 2:20pmI wondered the same thing. Perhaps they consider the act of running fast streaking, like a streak of lightning? But at least we WERE spared the vision of this idiot in the altogether!

A country boy can survive – Go Braves!! I am a 44 year old Jawja Bubba and have loved the Braves since I was knee high to a grass hopper. Matt is a class act. This year is Bobby Cox’s last year as manager, he is sadly retiring. What a great club!

Posted on September 21, 2010 at 11:16amCool……….morons like that have been giving philadelphia sports fans a “bad rap” for years. Consider one goofball that threw a snowball at Santa Claus and we have been hearing about it for over 20 years…. I happen to know that most Philadelphia fans are good, loyal fans and it is attention hungry imbeciles that have tarnished perception of Philadelphia natives……. Throw him in jail for 30 days and make an example that this kind of crap should and will not be tolerated…..

Posted on September 21, 2010 at 1:21pmHere’s an idea: take the tasers away from the cops while they are on the field and implement a policy that “if a fan is tased, the cop gets…..” Not really that hard to figure out. Geez.
Report Post »If it’s a crime to rush the field let the cops handle him. If you don’t want cops to handle him, take the crime part out of it.
