WSJ:
KIEV, Ukraine—A fight in Ukraine’s parliament Thursday left opposition lawmakers bloodied and bruised after they protested against the opening of a criminal case against their leader, former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
Deputies from Ms. Tymoshenko’s bloc had physically blocked the work of Parliament and hung signs reading “Stop the political repressions” a day after prosecutors filed the case. The opposition leader is accused of mishandling hundreds of millions of dollars when she was in office.
In the evening, scores of deputies from the pro-presidential Party of Regions stormed the podium and, after a fight involving fists and flying chairs, forced opposition deputies out of the parliament hall.
Five opposition lawmakers were taken to a hospital—one with a jaw injury, one with a heavily bruised hand, and three with concussions.

Posted on December 17, 2010 at 6:57pmRobert’s Rules of Orders are used in our government… supposedly. There have been a few shout outs lately in Congress. It would be interesting to see a few blows, but I would hope our leaders have more class. HAHaHaH Class.

Posted on December 17, 2010 at 1:41pmUnfortunately, this happens quite often here. The reason is that the members of the Rada (parliment) are not actually professional politicians or lawmakers. They don’t run individually for election like in the U.S. Instead, the parties run against other parties. You vote for a party, not for an individual. The percentage of votes that a party gets determines how many seats it gets in the Rada.
But here is the worst part. The party then selects who the actual people will be to hold those seats. Generally, they choose people they trust to vote the way party leaders want. So the “esteemed lawmakers” of the Rada are often just regular “guys off the street.” They are truck drivers, factory workers, laborers and others who will promise to do exactly what party leaders want in exchange for a good salary. In other words, the people have NO REAL REPRESENTATION.
Because the members of the Rada often come from lower levels of society, they are prone to solving their disagreements with fists and chairs. This country is really a mess. I don’t know why I stay.
Oh… wait a minute… now I remember. I am waiting for the USSA of the Obamsheviks to return to being the USA that I left.

Posted on December 17, 2010 at 6:25amMight be a good tactic to use this week to stop the idiots from further damageing our country. This has happened in our congress, to a certain extent. What comes immeadiatley to mind was Henry Clay’s caning of another member around 1840 something.
