(Updated) Mubarak Orders Egyptian Government Officials to Step Down, He Will Stay

Embattled Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak asked his cabinet officials to resign in a major televised announcement Friday. Mubarak proclaimed that he would appoint a new government on Saturday.

In addition, Mubarak promised to press ahead with social and political reforms and called the protests a deliberate attempt to destabilize the nation’s government.

The Associated Press reports:

Embattled President Hosni Mubarak has appeared on television for the first time since protests erupted demanding his ouster, and he says he will press ahead with social, economic and political reforms.

He is defending security forces’ crackdown on protesters.

Protesters have seized the streets of Cairo, battling police with stones and firebombs, burning down the ruling party headquarters, and defying a night curfew enforced by a military deployment. It is the peak of unrest posing the most dire threat to Mubarak in his three decades of authoritarian rule.

UPDATE

Via The Atlantic, some key quotes from President Mubarak’s televised remarks:

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, addressing Egyptian people over state TV, announced he was dissolving the Egyptian government and would be appointing a new cabinet. Oddly, Mubarak credited himself with the ongoing demonstrations, saying that he was personally responsible for reforms that made the protests possible. “I exhausted myself for the country,” he said.

However, he warned protesters’ aims “cannot be achieved through violence or chaos,” adding, “I, as President of the Country will allow citizens to protest within the frontiers of the law. … I will not be lax or tolerant, I will take all the steps to maintain the safety and security of all egyptians.“ He also promised to bring ”more democracy, more freedoms for citizens“ and to ”raise the standard of living.”

With all the instability in the mid east, I am glad that we have the oil in the gulf. Oh wait, everybody else does. Well we do have the coal fields. Oh wait, wrong way Obama wrote an exectutive order on mining coal a week or two ago. Well we have all those nuclear reactors under construction. Oh wait, we haven’t built one in 30 years. Well we do have solar, wind, and ethanol. Weeeeeeeeeeeee isn’t cheap energy fun.

Don’t worry to much about Israel, they’ve been down this road before and they are better prepared now than before when they took Egypt on. God is watching! God will protect Israel and once again humble those who seek to destroy her. God did not bring the Jews back to Israel to have them slaughtered! There is a plan and that plan is coming together real fast. More unrest in other hardcore run Arab states is to follow and when they get their places they will try to rid the world of Israel once and for all. NWO doesn’t want Israel around because Israel will not be apart of the NWO and America is running this show…for now. Russia will eventually get pulled into the region to secure the oil reserves either in Saudi or nearby. America may not be a factor at this point and China is hungry for these reserves as well, so WWIII will involve neutralizing America one of the biggest oil consumers and this will make both the Chinese and the Russians who now have fairly good ties with each other just as happy as two Grizzly Bears with a huge honey pot.

Obama cannot stand with this mob of people. The Muslims will take control and then start a war with Israel. President Mubarak has kept the lid on war between the Gaza Strip and Israel even though he might in truth be a dictator. He has played the most important lead in keeping peace in that area of the world. Obama should have supported the people of Iran when they tried to remove their Devil leader, but he did not. There is an invisible international neo nazi party grabbing power in this world. Soros is a part of it. Obama is a part of it. American progressives are a part of it. Iran and so many others. They have just made their power grab for North Africa seeking to re win Hitler’s failed invasion of Egypt that lost him the world. “The German’s strategic goal had been to slice through Egypt, capture the Suez Canal, enter the British Mandate of Palestine, activate an Arab uprising against the British, and finally link up with German forces thrusting south from Southern Russia. The Vichy French forces who were the Nazi’s allies, controlled Algeria to the west and Syria to the north of Palestine and were awaiting Nazi triumphs. But all this was foiled by Montgomery’s victory over Rommel at El Alamein.” Wikipedia.

An Islamic revolution is under way. Mubarak’s concessions will not stop the Islamists. They have seized the day, and this is it.

What many Americans fail to see is that westernized regimes in the ME must turn dictatorial to fight the Islamist elements from within. The ONLY way a democracy in the Muslim world can survive the pressure to Islamize is if the US gives them military support. Unfortunately, Plan B in those cases is to wait for a do-nothing liberal to be elected in the US, and then Islamists make their move.

Westernized dictators in the ME survive longer, but time and power corrupts and eventually either their own people or the global community seeks to depose them. Those who are egregiously evil like Hussein fall only with outside intervention, while more “benign” dictators like Mubarak, who do not govern with an iron fist, are more susceptible to revolutions. Mubarak is the lesser of two evils, so I pray he is able to hold his ground.

Hillary & Hussein are calling for the Egyptian govt. “to restrain its security forces,“ which is code for ”let the revolution succeed.” Hussein’s position is not only dangerous but hypocritical. We all know his forked tongue never hissed during the Iran riots.

Yes, elections have consequences. When the most powerful nation on earth elects a radical and a wimp, there is a domino effect worldwide. Stupid, stupid libs. Who are they going to blame when their gas prices spike, and their loved ones die in jihadist attacks?
