WGN in Chicago was betting its morning ratings on capturing a live bridge implosion.
So, they waited:
…and waited:
…and waited:
And then cut to this guy to get a check of the weather:
But when they cut back tot he bridge, here’s what they found:
Yes, after staying live for over 3 minutes, cutting away to the bald-headed weather guy, the crew missed the live implosion. “Are you kidding me!” one anchor yelled. But then odd things started happening — the crew lost it, and began throwing paper:
…and eating it:
Here you go — in all it’s glory (which the station calls an “instant classic”):

Posted on November 19, 2010 at 9:58amJust so everyone knows, WGN is known for being irreverent during their news casts, especially the morning show. This is how they act all the time and I love it. They poke fun at themselves and others during an informative news show. Its entertaining but not as offensive as most of John Stewerts “newscast”. They are very funny. Just check out YouTube for other WGN morning clips.

Posted on November 19, 2010 at 9:23amClassic! Been there, done that! As a photographer and videographer, it is absolutely inevitable that if you don’t have a guy on the ground telling you when it is about to happen, you WILL MISS IT! Whoever produced that segment, needs to have their butt kicked!

Report Post »This is really a couple of “local” news people completely bored out of their minds on a slow news day. Murphy’s Law was bound to take over. I think that their reactions are common and realistic. How many times has that happened to you? (not the bridge thing- but the one thing that you are trying to avoid actually happens) I think that it was funny.
For what it is worth, the weather guy did recommend that they stay with the shot- he’s a veteran news guy and knew it would happen… :)

Posted on November 19, 2010 at 8:56amHey that’s the most HONESTY we have had out of our MSM in Chicago in years..Usually they just read from the teleprompter repeating whatever is on the screen.. I often wonder if they feel like fools sitting there and reading stuff they KNOW is a lie..Problem is a bridge getting blown up is the only way they can report on anything other than the killings, taxes going up and other depressing news so I see why they could have been upset..

Posted on November 19, 2010 at 8:39amActually, I think it’s pretty funny, spontaneous, TV showing two humans and raw emotions. Kinda refreshing, actually. We need more real, true emotions in some of these “talking heads”.

And I thought I was the only one who could see what TheBlaze was contributing too. The only places for even REMOTELY credible, informative news are BBC and (oh, you guys will love me for this) Al Jazeera Englinsh. Yes, they do non-biased reporting in English. It’s not the same as the original Al Jazeera at all. But you wouldn‘t know that because you’re too biased against Muslims to go and check for yourself ( http://www.youtube.com/AlJazeeraEnglish ).

Posted on November 19, 2010 at 4:30pmHey. Oblahma 2012. If The Blaze is sooo horrible, why in the heck are you here? Maybe to make a buck or two being George Soros, Obama or the Democrat Party’s biatch? I mean really? It appears you that you have to know which side a conservative takes on an issue before you know what side you’re on. You’d argue the benefits of anorexia because a conservative was against it. Free thinking’s not your strong suit. How pathetic are you? Me? I can tell you exactly why I’m a conservative and why I know liberal policies have never and will never work. Can you tell me why you’re an Obot? It’s ok, I’ll wait for you to scan the Q&A page of the moveon.org website for the stock answer for your reply.
