British Columnist Stunned: Obama‘s SOTU Outlined Ideas ’Based on the Very Model That Is Causing the EU to Implode’

British Newspaper Columnist Slams Obamas State of the Union

The President once introduced himself to a crowd in Berlin in 2008 as a “fellow citizen of the world.” Now some European commentators from across the pond are speaking out, dumbfounded by the direction that President Barack Obama is taking the United States.

Janet Daley wrote a blistering column for The Daily Telegraph over the weekend entitled “Barack Obama is trying to make the US a more socialist state.” In the piece, Daley writes that the days of the world looking to the United States for leadership are over:

“Barack Obama is now putting the United States squarely a decade behind Britain. Listening to the President’s State of the Union message last week was like a surreal visit to our own recent past: there were, almost word for word, all those interminable Gordon Brown Budgets that preached ‘fairness’ while listing endless new ways in which central government would intervene in every form of economic activity.

Later, in a television interview, Mr Obama described his programme of using higher taxes on the wealthy to bankroll new government spending as ‘a recipe for a fair, sound approach to deficit reduction and rebuilding this country.’ To which we who come from the future can only shout, ‘No‑o-o, go back! Don’t come down this road!’”

Daley goes on to criticize the President’s “childlike conception of fairness,” pointing out that when you breakdown the redistribution of wealth from entrepreneurial activity to public spending, the effects are much more complex and perverse than the President would suggest:

“There is, it turns out, a huge difference between being provided with a livelihood and feeling that you have earned it. The assumption that all the wealth that individuals create belongs, by moral right, to the state, to spend on benefits or phoney job creation schemes (sorry, public infrastructure projects), is proving phenomenally difficult to expunge in Britain, so ineradicably has it embedded itself in the public consciousness.

In the US, it has had only odd historical moments of favour (Roosevelt’s New Deal, Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society”), which have been beaten back consistently by the dynamism of a country that sees its existential purpose as being to foster and promote individual achievement and self-belief. It is bizarre that Obama should be regarded (or should regard himself) as a kind-of European who is trying to bring a sophisticated kind-of socialism to American economic life, complete with government-run health care and “fair” (high) taxes on the wealthy. If his European credentials were up to date, he would know that this was precisely the social model that is causing the EU to implode, and whose hopeless contradictions the best economic minds on the Continent are attempting, unsuccessfully, to resolve.”

Daley was born in America but has lived in Britain since 1965. It should be noted that The Telegraph’s political editor has described the paper being “right of center” on the political spectrum.

After describing the President’s attachment to the “left-liberal dream, which still survives in small pockets of American life,” Daley concludes that if the United States ceases to stand by its constitution and political institutions specifically designed to prevent the government from oppressing the rights of the individual citizen, it will make a stupid mistake and “suffer a catastrophic loss of purpose and identity.”

He told us in his innauguration speech what he was going to do to us. Millions cheered and fainted and cried. The key is how many will wake up and realize the path was down the Marxist road? Not many, they are too busy with Jersey Shore, American Idol, the new iPad and the newest video game.

The only good news is they are now to busy with jersey Shore, American Idol, the new ipad and the newest video game to go out and vote..The young ones are not motivated to vote for a black guy again…Which is why they voted for him in the first place. he is old news…

The young ones who are awake are turning to Ron Paul for the restoration of our Liberties and Constitution…

What I am saying is just because you watch American Idol doesn‘t mean you shouldn’t be paying attention, people who do that just do not care.

BADDOGGY, Ron Paul is fine for domestic fixes, but the Constitution did not foresee terrorists and the speed of travel we have today. We used to know weeks in advance of an attack against us, now it is a matter of minutes, hours at best, so adapting WWII levels of protection is now necessary. Going to the end of WWII, the United Nations is supposed to be (in vision) the police of the world to keep things safe, so in part it is our fault we have not held the UN at task to do their consensus of all the nations a proper job and a more equal cost in doing it. Now, if the UN was doing the job we are doing ourselves things would be a whole different story, but right now they aren’t, and sorry, Ron Paul probably isn’t the guy that will correct this, but I sure bet Newt would do it. Newt as a Progressive is totally laughable when you look at his record, Mitt is a different story, as I recently heard, a Massachusetts moderate by any other name is a liberal, and that hasn’t worked out too well for us last election, won’t improve this election. I could easily vote for a Newt/Santorum ticket, the two would keep each other in check, and I really bet bottom dollar things would be better. Gotta stop the high road to Europe, and now.

Unfortunately, American politicians aren’t known for their studious attention to what is going on outside of their “insider trading” groups. sorry old mate.

While I have been saying this over the past several years, no one seems to have listened. Much of Europe is divesting or privatizing failed government services as fast as it can. If governments have to restructure, many jobs will be lost. Many. And that would devastate the subcontinent.

The “best” economic minds are the reason we are in the fix we are. We’re victims of one airhead liberal inanity after another, until we’re at a point where it is too late to avoid economic chaos, and this empire is on the road to implosion.

It will all culminate in civil war II, and we will be torn apart into various enclaves. Secessions will also be the order of the day.

Twice before in the 20th century the United States turned isolationist. Once, just before WW1 and then again just before WW2. Ron Paul wants us to try that approach one more time. The difference now is any World Wide conflict will be over in 90 minutes, not months. We would have no time to rearm ourselves. We do need to return to the US constitution, and reject the USSR constitution, but Paul is not the person to do it. We, as a nation, need to return to the faith once delivered otherwise we are on the path of national suicide.

I will be forever gratefull, and definately prepared if all goes well. Good for this guy to try and head more people off this slippery slope. I swear, I never expected in my life to see where our country is now, and I intend to do all I can to take back our freedoms to give a good country to my kids, grandkids, and great grands. As unpopular as it may be to say, our nation is in a war with the nation of Islam. Our main enemy is a religion and those who fanatically follow its commands to either convert everyone to Islam or to kill the infidels if they will not convert. Would you rather deal with Iran before it gets a nuke or after it gets a nuke. I guarantee their efforts to create one will not stop and they will have no qualms using it against Israel even if the U.S. adopts a golden rule policy. Islam is a real and constant threat not only to Israel but also to us and we cannot lose sight of that. Budget cutbacks can come in the form of eliminating departments (EPA, Education, and so on) and social programs that are not Constitutional.

When our nation is at war with the entire Islamic world, as many of us claim, it is STILL benecifial to adopt a defensive strategy of dealing with the threat. It is much easier to defend out borders and coastlines when the vast majority of our military force is at home. An attack on the homeland will also prompt droves of citizens to ride in and help. Just because you didn’t enlist does not mean you cannot defend your home country when it is under attack. Lord knows we have enough firearms; adopting a defensive strategy would give us an incredible advantage of numbers. Any expeditions on foreign soil should be limited to fast, punishing strikes. That keeps our costs down and our damage-per-dollar up, which means we can repeat these attacks as much as necessary. Once a legitimate nation attacks us, they will feel the pain. We can’t keep chasing nationless guerrillas across the middle east, disregarding the sovereignty of the nations in the region and disregarding our budget in the meantime. What happens when they stop buying our debt? These foreign wars will end abruptly and catastrophically. Our current strategy is unsustainable.

His military background kind of belays the notion that he is a pacifist, just don’t rile him up. Even now, the US has a mighty military.

Taking away property rights is the first tenant of The Communist Manifesto. I believe Neil said that a MAJORITY of the students agreed that it would be a GREAT IDEA to do just that. What angers me is that racists like you you dare calls themselves patriot, when you are the opposite!

It’s amazing how many voters have no problem with a Republican destroying the country but heaven forbid that Obama get reelected and keep the country afloat. Half the population of this country has a death wish. Even the most conservative Republicans like Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage have called Ron Paul a lunatic and a psycho. Yet he is only two points behind Mitt Romney in Iowa. Has the GOP become such barbarians that Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage are now moderates?

Cons live in a deluded world.

Obama has done a fantastic job of getting our country back together after it was torn apart by Bush, Greenspan and the Republican Party.

The GOP is full of a lot of sick puppies.

If you voted for Obama in 2008 to prove your not a racist, vote against him in 2012 to prove your not stupid!
