Broken Windows, Paint Bombs, & Ammonia: Anarchists Wreak Absolute Havoc in London

- Hundreds of hooded and masked activists caused violent chaos in London’s busiest areas
- Anarchists shot paint bombs and light bulbs filled with ammonia at police officers
- Anti-capitalist hooligans stormed Ritz, smashed windows at HSBC
- Labor leader says protests are like anti-apartheid movement
- Otherwise, a mostly peaceful day
About half a million protesters descended on London today objecting to Prime Minister David Cameron’s austerity measures, as The Blaze reported here. While most of these protesters remained peaceful, off-shoot groups of hooded and masked anarchists wreaked havoc on the streets of London, clashing violently with riot police.
According to the Daily Mail, hundreds of activists caused violent chaos in some of the busiest sections of London, like Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street and Regent Street.
The Daily Mail reports:
Hundreds of activists – many wearing masks and hoods – disrupted traffic, set off fireworks and flares in the busiest areas of the city including Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street and Regent Street.
Lightbulbs filled with ammonia and paintbombs were thrown at police as they desperately tried to keep the peace.
Topshop and HSBC had their windows smashed, while paint and glass bottles were thrown at a Royal Bank of Scotland branch. The marauders also attacked The Ritz near Green Park, where they smashed windows with bins and road signs.
UK Uncut, an anti-cuts direct action group, later occupied the Fortnum & Mason store in Piccadilly, claiming the firm had ‘dodged’ paying taxes.
Nine arrests were made and some police officers were injured.
In a speech to the thousands of peaceful protesters, labor leader Ed Miliband likened today’s protest in London to the anti-apartheid movement. He also compared London‘s protesters to the civil rights activists of the 1960s and the women’s rights activists of over a century ago.
“We come in the tradition of movements that have marched in peaceful but powerful protest for justice, fairness and political change,” he said.
The suffragettes fought for women’s equality; the civil rights activists fought racism; and the anti-apartheid protesters fought a morally bankrupt system.
What are the London protesters fighting for?
Quoting Miliband: ”Our struggle is to fight to preserve, protect and defend the best of the services we cherish…”
As the sun sets on this side of the pond, the violence of the anarchists is likely to continue through nightfall. So far, five police officers have been injured–one seriously–trying to bring order to London.

Posted on March 26, 2011 at 6:54pmOddly, I don’t feel the least bit sorry for England in any respect concerning this or any other problems they may encounter. The socialist party has brought this upon themselves and, so far as I’m concerned, they deserve it.
Report Post »As for the royal wedding coming up- BFD. I don‘t bow to any dips over there and sure don’t see anything more special about them than the girl next door getting married. The whole thing can blow up in their faces, no big loss.
Funniest thing about all this is, it’s going to get much worse before it gets better.

When the animals try it here, the criminal in chief will attempt to impose martial law, and our last hope might be charging him as their leader. We have the proof of his constant meetings with those inciting the groups already. His silence of the violent rhetoric by the leftist union goons while calling for peace from conservatives and his false accusations against the Tea Party proves his bias and ideology. IMHO he is trying to set us up as scapegoats, and we must refrain from taking the bait.
I wonder if he can be courtmartialed as the Commander-in-Chief. During wartime, there are numerous rules which all military members MUST adhere to. IMHO he’s guilty of treason, but Reed wouldn’t enforce the congressional route.
If charged it might prevent him from imposing martial law.
The UK’s Socialist party are at least honest of who they are, unlike OURS!
The Anarchists won’t come to where I live, as the law WILL use FORCE and live ammo if attacked.
People CAN protect not only their property, but their neighbors too.
Even have an equipped National Guard post about 2 mi away ;^)

Posted on March 26, 2011 at 5:58pmYep- things are getting noisy in London, too.
~~~~~~~~~~
From John Tate, President of Campaign for Liberty:
In the past, I’ve written of abuses by the TSA, including its belief that you check your 4th Amendment rights the moment you purchase a plane ticket.
The TSA’s invasive screening tactics shame passengers into their potentially harmful porno scanners with the horrific thought of being groped by an agent if you refuse.
As it turns out, while conducting tests on the radiation levels of these scanners, a number of them were coming back with higher levels than expected. “It would appear that the emissions are 10 times higher. We understand it as a calculation error,” TSA spokesman Sarah Horowitz told Wired.
A “calculation error.” And yet, these are the people we are told are “keeping us safe?”
Nevertheless, without hesitation, the government continues to install these scanners in airports across the country.
If you thought virtual strip searches were a violation of your privacy, just wait until you hear the latest claim from the Department of Homeland Security.
During oral arguments in a lawsuit filed by EPIC (Electronic Privacy Information Center), the DHS counsel claimed they have authority to “strip search every air traveler. The agency also stated that it believed a mandatory strip search rule could be instituted without any public comment or rulemaking.”
Have we given up enough of our liberties yet?
Just when you thought flying couldn’t possibly get worse, union bosses are now trying to force union representation on TSA employees with a “vote” that is clearly stacked in the bosses’ favor.
In other words, that creepy TSA agent that almost seemed to enjoy feeling up you and your child will now be virtually impossible to fire for inappropriate behavior.
From now on, security and passenger rights will play a secondary role to the union bosses’ demands for “screener’s rights.”
Remember when House Transportation Committee Chairman John Mica claimed the solution to TSA abuses was for airports to “opt-out” of the TSA? Well, his “solution” turns out to be nothing more than a distraction to appease angry constituents. In reality, it rings hollower than Jimmy Hoffa’s coffin.
The “private screeners” are required by law to follow the same screening procedures as the TSA; in other words, even if the airports opt-out, nothing will change except the names and faces.
The only viable solution here is to abolish the TSA. Since 9/11, blue-shirted, rubber-gloved government agents have not thwarted the major terrorist attempts on our airlines. In the real world, only alert passengers and flight crews stopped these attacks.
It‘s time to bring a halt to our government’s security theater. When the government claims to have a monopoly on keeping us safe, the chances of average people slipping into apathy are higher.
Airlines have a responsibility to keep passengers protected and their planes safe and in the sky. After the TSA is abolished, we must return the responsibility for security to where it belongs – the private sector.
I could not agree more! I will never let anyone violate my 4th amendment rights or any of my other constitutional rights. What I cannot under stand is why the American people are putting up with this obvious attack on our rights. Why have the actions of the TSA not been taken to the courts?
I thank you for your words.
I have taken a passing interest in the Libertarian Party for the last 5 years or so, but never really looked into it seriously. I know Libertarians and I can support a lot of the same issues, but there are some that I just can’t wrap my arms around that Libertarians are very animated about. Soooo…. Recently I wanted to learn more about Libertarian beliefs and read the party platform. I Googled some weird cluster of Libertarian words and the very first site that came up was an Anarchist website (I have the URL if anyone wants it). Near the top of the home-page on the right-hand side there was a link leading to some site that claims Anarchists and Libertarians are promising to work together to bring about change (this is not word for word, but it’s pretty darn close).
I know we have many Libertarians that hang out here at the blaze, so I am hoping one or two of you can answer my Q. Here’s my Q….
“I have taken a passing interest in the Libertarian Party for the last 5 years or so, but never really looked into it seriously. I know Libertarians and I can support a lot of the same issues, but there are some that I just can’t wrap my arms around that Libertarians are very animated about. Soooo…. You need to understand that libertarians cover a wide range, from anarchists to conservatives. Instead of left and right you should think of libertarianism as top and bottom opposed to socialism/total government control. Libertarians believe in NO government control. In truth, our founding fathers struck a great balance, read the 2000 year leap for a great explanation of this. But we live in a totally different world today. Is it even feasible to have no government oversight at all?
I know I am not answering your direct question, but I hope I am guiding you in the right direction. I too am a closet libertarian. I like their ideals, I think this is how we should all live. But I also realize that it is not realistic. Take the abortion issue for example. A true libertarian takes the stance that the government has no right to tell a woman what she can do with her body. Abortion may be wrong, the libertarian may be a good Christian, but their point is the government has no right to interfere. I disagree. The government does have the responsibility to prevent murder. It also has the responsibility to make sure businesses do not take advantage of consumers, to protect all segments of society from each other, to ensure fair and equal treatment…
If I had the choice I would probably register as a libertarian in my state. I do not have to agree with any particular platform, I have my own views on all issues. Yes, there are anarchists is the party, but so what? The general idea is it is a freedom from government party.
Thanks for taking a shot at it. However, your last question does bother me a little. To me, it matters a great deal if a political party that I may have helped ends up helping Anarchists. I consider Anarchists as spoiled dirt-bag little brats, not the society I want for my offspring. Know what I mean?
