Brutal Purse-Snatching Attack Caught on Video

This is what it looks like after you get punched so hard in the head during a purse-snatching that you lose some teeth:
This is how it happened:
From KXAN-TV in Austin, TX:
The incident happened at 9 p.m. on Friday outside the Liberty Bar. Merri was about to enter the building when she was attacked right in front of a surveillance camera.
“It put shivers down my spine. It really scared me,” said Liberty Bar owner Kite Ricks, who had installed the camera just five weeks earlier. Ricks said he put the camera there to keep a safe eye out for customers and staff, but he has never seen such a violent act in the area.
“I was really taken aback because this doesn’t happen in this neighborhood. It is really concerning and disheartening,” he said.
Austin police hope someone will recognize Merri’s attacker in the video and call with information.

There is absolute, statistical proof that in areas that open the door to concealed carry, crime rates go down. It’s not debatable, it’s a simple fact. Happens EVERY time. Guys like this one are chickenshit ********, had he been harboring the fear that she might have a .40 in her waistband, we’d not have seen this video.

Cops are not perfect and they should be outed when they make bad decisions. They should also do hard time when they commit a crime, but to act as though every cop is out to get the average citizen is fear mongering. My biggest gripe is that far to many police officers are used to bring revenue into their departments. They are there to protect us, not find any and every way to claw money from our hands. Seriously though, stop lumping them all together because that just makes it harder to out the bad ones. And arm yourselves because the police will not save you from thugs like this.

Open carry is NOT the answer.
Knowing how to use your weapon and being aware of your surroundings IS the answer. In this case just being AWARE of her surroundings would have hit a home run. She could have been killed or raped or both.
It‘s time American’s woke up and began to pay attention to what is going on around them…like our friends in Israel. More and more predators are being bred and created by the entitlement society.

true the points you brought up . this is a situation where it would pay off for the women to have a firearm only if trained. i am a firm believer that people need to carry and openly. but this is not a panacea. without the skill of situational awareness people can be easily overcome.
practice listening for 15 minute intervals 1-2 times a day and wrining down EVERYTHING you hear . repeat this exercise with your eyes the with your nose and skin . if you do this with regularity and self crique you will find that you have been going through life not being aware of much.
please try these exercises and appling it when you are driving then in possible dangerous situations.

The fact is, it isn’t a matter of awareness until the situation presents itself, it’s about HAVING a weapon versus NOT having a weapon. Being proficient with your weapon and everything after THAT FACT is secondary to HAVING the weapon at your disposal initially.
It doesn’t appear that either of you are thinking clearly.
Rule#1- Never leave home without it.
If you don’t know how to point and shoot, then you are developmentally disabled. Seek professional assistance.
