(The Blaze/AP) –Bubba Watson has achieved his first major championship victory, defeating Louis Oosthuizen in a “sudden death” playoff in the US Masters Tournament.
Trapped among the trees 155 yards from the hole and not able to see the green, the left-hander hit a huge hook Sunday and landed the ball safely on the 10th green.
He two-putted for par and because Oosthuizen couldn’t get up and down from the front of the green, Watson had captured his first major.
Watson birdied Nos. 13 through 16 to rally from as many as four shots off the lead. Oosthuizen grabbed that lead on No. 2 when he holed out from the fairway for a rare double-eagle 2.
But Watson hit the shot of the day – the approach on No. 10 that helped him win the first Masters playoff since 2009.
Yesterday, Watson tweeted that the day would be good regardless of the outcome. He wrote: “Thanks everyone for the support! 3 reasons tomorrow will be#awesome, 1. Jesus has risen 2. See my new baby boy & my wife 3. Masters Sunday”
Watson wasn’t the only to perform well under pressure. Bo Van Pelt hit what some are calling “the shot of the tournament,” acing the 16th en route to a final-round record 64.

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 7:58amIt used to be a gentleman’s game until Tiger came into being. The media can’t let go of this “loser”. He swears, throws clubs, no fines. He is “entitled”. Unlike our President he does earn his own way.

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 3:10amDid anyone except me notice how ESPN “pulled the plug” on the interview with Bubba Watson at the exact moment he said he wanted to thank his “Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ”? What an insult to Watson and Christians everywhere! Here is another Tebow-esque American hero that the main stream media censors with impunity. A wonderful man and decent Christian isn’t allowed to express his faith.

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 12:50amThe world would be a better place if everybody knew how to play golf. Because golf is like life, It teaches you about yourself. You have good rounds and you have some bad rounds. You have good shots and you have bad shots. But sometimes you have that great shot. Just like in life. The key to making a great shot is to put yourself into that position in life to make that shot.

Lighten up! Really! Get bent out of shape, excited, mad, upset, or even discombobulated, (forgive me if not spelled properly) over abortion, Iran, NBP, Obamacare, the national debt, or a variety of other topics. But GOLF? All news does not have to raise ones blood pressure to heart attack level. Kick back a little. If you do not like golf, why did you even bother to look at the vid or read the article? As Easter Sunday draws to a close, try to remember the greatness of this day, and may God bless all of us, and continue to bless the United States of America.

From THE REPORTER
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Bubba Watson’s Masters win is probably the best thing that has happened to the game in the last 12 years. In a way, he broke the spell the game had on it by Tiger Woods who is now just a has been.
Bubba Watson never had a lesson in his life, he has an very unusual swing and guess what, he’s just a regular guy. Bubba Watson is not the usual phony zombie that tries to act like he should act instead of being himself. He is the real deal, new, fresh and human!
Watsons hit what has now become known as “the shot” which won the tournament. It was a shot that nobody thought he could hit but this good o’l boy did and proved to the entire world that, yes, an ordinary guy, who never took a lesson, is capable of winning THE MASTERS.
Great job Bubba – you showed em..

Posted on April 8, 2012 at 10:53pmThis must have been posted before Oosthuizen’s double eagle, often called an albatross, on the second hole today. But the shot that won it was Watson’s pitch from out of the pine straw in the second hole on the playoff, when he put it about 12 feet or less from the hole.

There is little to understand about the game, a game of snooker has more strategy challenges. However, no other game allows you to bring your servant on to the playing field with you.

Posted on April 8, 2012 at 11:07pmI don’t think 18.00 to $30.00 is too high. Perhaps you are looking at private clubs rather than city or county run golf courses. I have clubs, but it has been years since I played. I think I paid $200.00 for all my clubs. Golf is not quite as high as Scuba diving though, I spent about $2,000 for all my equipment. Of course that was when I had a job and before Obama took over. Now I am poor and jobless.

Posted on April 8, 2012 at 11:12pmYes it is a gentleman’s game were the players are not adorned with tats, shorts or flip flops. They call penalties on themselves, and each week charities are the benefit of millions of dollars. No guaranteed money for most, don‘t do well don’t get paid. Most golf courses are public which anyone with about 25 bucks can play. Used equipment is fairly cheap.

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 9:51amGolf being the “gentleman’s game” refers to the fact that golfers have no referee that monitors their game. there is no scorekeeper but the golfer. they are trusted on their honor that their score is correct. hence “gentleman’s game“ just like a ”gentleman’s wager”…it is agreed to by all parties simply on a handshake and the strength of the other person’s WORD!!
that does not mean they don’t cuss, pitch a fit, or act like idiots from time to time…they are human… but it wasn’t Tiger that started the cussing, fits, or childish behavior….
review the decades of tape, even back to Palmer and Paine and Nicholson and you will see them acting the same way from time to time…
were there not incidents when Tiger first came on the scene of quasi-racist comments made about him, his game, and the same when Singh came or asian players…and even the hispanics…how long did it take to allow women on certain courses?? some even today like Augusta DON’T
Gentleman‘s game does not refer to them being gentleman all the time just like being Christian doesn’t mean you are pious and holy and never get angry or cuss…the term refers to the RULE system being based on HONOR and your WORD not a referee…unlike some games that need MULTIPLE referees/umpires just to keep order and cheating to a minimum…
Soccer is called the “thinking man’s game” for the same reason…it requires strategy not just hitting each other hard..doesn’t mean all players are geniuses

It’s not; neither is it boring, although that is completely subjective anyway. Personally, I think that tennis is boring. Nothing but back and forth, whiplash-inducing tedium.
What isn’t subjective is that golf is nothing like tennis, besides the mechanic of hitting a ball with another object. So I guess we can say that baseball and polo are like tennis too, right?

Posted on April 8, 2012 at 10:22pmWhy not? It’s a great story of a great shot in the playoff of a great Masters. Oh wait, you don‘t play or watch golf so you don’t get it and don’t see why others do. Go out and try to duplicate that shot. Bet you can’t instead I bet you say something about chasing a ball or something equally brain dead. To many people it‘s a great sport and the Masters is it’s top event. If you don‘t agree don’t click on the article. Simple solutions for simple minds.
Report Post »Keep in mind this is the only sport where how you play directly effects how you get paid. You can’t sign a contract and just put out what you think is enough to get by. If you don’t make the cut you just wasted time. Yes some of the best will get apperance bonuses but nobody walks to first or through a down. Every shot counts and Bubbas’ was a great one worthy of recongnition. Even if small minded people don’t want to know.

Posted on April 8, 2012 at 10:43pmOne of Bubba’s first responses after he won was thanking Jesus. That is class. Tears of joy welled up in my eyes as I was rooting for him to win! We need more athletes who are not afraid to praise God in public. It gives me courage to do so. He recently adopted a baby boy as well. As a golfer to this point he does things his way–no coach telling him do this do that. He is an inspiration.
There are many reasons for this article–Bubba’s display of faith, his never give up attitude, his love for his family.
Those conservatives that I know who play golf are some of the most honest and respectful people I know.
