Greyhound Bus Hijacked in NC; Suspect Taken Into Custody

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — An armed passenger hijacked a Greyhound bus Thursday night along a North Carolina highway and was arrested after police surrounded the bus after the driver had pulled into a gas station, authorities said. No one was injured.
The bus with 35 passengers was headed south on Interstate 85 from Richmond, Va., to Raleigh, Greyhound spokeswoman Maureen Richmond said. The suspect pulled a gun and ordered the driver to relinquish the bus. The driver slowed down and got off an exit, where she let off all the passengers except two, Richmond said.
North Carolina Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeff Gordon said troopers were following the bus once word of the hijacking came in around 10:17 p.m. The driver pulled into a gas station off U.S. 1 Business near Norlina, which is about 60 miles north of Raleigh. The remaining passengers were released and the suspect was taken into custody after he was hit with a stun gun, Gordon said.
Gordon said the passengers were at a nearby fire station until another bus could be dispatched to pick them up.
The Vance County Sheriff’s Office sent a bomb unit to the bus after the suspect commented that there was a bag with an explosive device on board, Gordon said. The search was continuing late Thursday.
The suspect‘s identity was not immediately released and authorities hadn’t determined a motive.

An underwear bomber just in the nick of time to salvage their investment in body scanning companies. A bus hijacker just when they figured out their business model didn’t take into account the relatively small number of airports.They can’t seel enough to break even yet so they need more “customers”, like bus and train staions…maybe all city halls and then a couple mobile units to scan crowds before they greet a congresswoman.

My observation leads me to the conclusion that Sacred Honor believes he is the self appointed conscience of this site. The posters here who do not meet with his approval are promptly berated. He/She is very good at childishly calling them childish.
He/She says they are Libertarian, but frequently advocates trampling on our rights when it does not suit him/her for a particular situation. He/She is also frequently guilty of attempting to apply Constitutional arguments that may be valid at the Federal level to the State or Local level where they do not apply. I’m not sure where I would put him/her on the political scale, but it’s definitely not Libertarian.
It’s really best to just treat him/her as you would a left radical, or troll as he/she is fond of saying. Ignore him/her.

We just elected for the first time in 100 years a Republican Congress and Senate in NC and damn if the state is not getting worse, We have not joined with the other states in repealing the Osama Obama Care, and NC taxes are through the roof but our teachers are facing lay offs. I am a retired soldier and have been unemployed now for over a year, I think it maybe time to move to Texas cause NC suxs!

I believe one reason the National Democratic Convention is to be held in Charlotte is that North Carolina is now leaning Republican. Also, could be due to less union interference in setting up cameras, lights, etc.

No, ma’am, William Henry Smith was the first sheriff of Vance County, which was formed in 1881. He was a Republican and served 19 years. Someone in the family gave me a picture of him and his wife, Frances “Fannie” Burton (Hedgepeth), and I painted his portrait from that picture and presented it to Vance County. Smith relatives that I’d never heard of “came out of the woodwork” for the ceremony, and my aunt identified the people in the snapshots I took. The newspaper sent me copies of their pictures, too. That was a big deal for me, as you can tell. I loved my daddy and his mother and her family. My late grandfather had a bunch of siblings with family.
Thank you for the opportunity to tell you about it.
