WASHINGTON — The speculation simply won’t die. On Sunday, former George W. Bush speechwriter Michael Gerson said that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was “actively” weighing the option of jumping into the Republican presidential race amid voter discontent with the current field.
“I don’t think Republicans regard this as a strong field,” Gerson said, during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week.“ ”So there is still talk of people getting in the race. Not just [Sarah] Palin but last week, Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey was in Chicago and had two meetings with serious Republican groups from the Midwest.”
“He is actively, I think, considering getting in this race, which would throw things open once more,” he added. “But the desire for that to happen … it shows that they are not happy with the current field, they think it needs to be filled out in an important way. I don’t know if that is going to happen, but the desire for many Republicans to expand this field shows that they are not content with it.”

Posted on September 4, 2011 at 1:09pm“any one but a progressive lib dem” – surely you jest. I think we need to avoid “progressives” (PERIOD)! The party labels mean nothing. After years of D switching to R and R switching to I and I switching to D – we shouldn’t allow the lie to continue. We should look at a person’s stance on the issues, and forget about the stupid labels of arbitrary parties.

Posted on September 4, 2011 at 1:56pmI would consider Christie but he has some splaining to do regarding gobal warming and 2nd ammendment. The main thing I want in a candidate and POTUS is to hear them say that the Fedearal Government is way too big and has overeached it’s Constitutional boundaries. I want to hear them say that they are closing most if not all Federal agencies, FEMA, EPA, DOE, HUD just to name a few. Return most responsibilities to the states as intended.
I would also like to hear them say that we are going to drill for natural gas and oil any and everywhere we can. Build pipielines and Nuclear plants creating milllions of jobs while leaving a trillion a year here in our economy.
I do not want to hear a preacher in chief. The social issues like abortion and gays can wait, let’s win first and not alienate too many swing voters.

He supported the building of the mosque at ground zero, he refused to have New Jersey join in the suit to repeal Obamacare with 26 other state governors, and he favors amnesty for illegal aliens. He’s no conservative, and before you go making comments about “hoping” what Perry is not, do a little research. Obviously, you have internet access; informing yourself is better than “hoping.” This way you will learn that Perry (who is not at all friendly with Bush) is a much preferred candidate over Christie. About your Ron Paul comments:
Isn’t it ironic that the biggest reason why RP would not be electable is because of his mostly not-so-stable supporters?
They are his worst enemy. You are right though, even without his crazy following, many of his ideas would be un-acceptable to most voters. And for those people that actually research candidates, they would do well to study the line that runs through Ron Paul’s thinking, his love of pure Libertarian ideology, and the love of Anarchists of the idea of a Ron Paul presidency. It’s a crazy web, but one that comes together easily if people know what they are reading. I have said many times that an RP presidency would be as bad as Obama’s, although for different reasons.
Here‘s a quick example of why I don’t trust RP’s support structure… They are already discussing what to do if Paul loses the primary. The plan is to immediately have him run on a 3rd party ticket to go up against Obama. This will pull support, money, and votes, away from whomever is the GOP nominee and automatically hands Obama another 4 years.

With Christie’s global warming stance, he’ll fit in just like Romney or Perry. I don’t actually see the globalists ties, but he definitely sympathizes with much of their big government rhetoric. I’ll give Christie props for taking on the Unions in NJ, they are probably a more powerful lobby in that state than any lobby in DC, maybe except for the MIC. I encourage him to run, the vote will just be split further between Romney, Perry, Bachamnn. Paul will continue gaining momentum whether you like it or not. Paul’s message continues to spread like wild-fire on social networking. He’ll be around 16-18% next month nationally and may actually chip away at the #2 spot from Romney. If Christie enters, I would bet Perry’s, Romney’s numbers would drop at least 5% each.
Perry knocked the wind out of Bachmann’s campaign. Not Paul’s.
Paul may have a hell of a time trying to win the nomination, but I have no doubts he could demolish Obama in a landslide in the general election. People want someone who has been honest and not flip-floppy. Paul has had the same message since the 80′s, and he’s been right about the economy and the fed back then. Maybe in time you’ll come around to supporting his view on ME Foreign Policy after we finish off the dollar as the worlds reserve currency w/ our meddling. When gas is $10 a gallon in a few years, you‘ll think back to Paul’s warnings. Think Islam is the main enemy? I think it’s the globalists who run

Posted on September 4, 2011 at 12:45pmLevin said it best
“This is a governor — he’s an elected official,” Levin said. “He’s talking to his citizens this way. People aren’t hanging around on the beach to get a tan when it’s overcast, windy and raining. And ‘get out of your beach house.’ In other words, drop everything you own. Drop everything you have because the governor says so. And if you don’t do it, you get maligned by the governor. Now this is a man whose ego is completely out of control.”
Levin explained that homeowners should have been left to make their own evacuation decisions. The governor, he insisted, could have encouraged an evacuation and explained that people ignoring his plea would do so at their own risks, without the benefit of public services.
Christie, Levin said, was missing the point: Beachgoers weren’t the only ones in the storm’s path, and some had their entire livelihoods at stake on the Jersey shore.
“We’re not talking about just surfers on the beach,” sniped Levin. “He said ‘get out of your beach houses.’ Well, what do you think you have along the coast? Homes, beach house I guess we can call them, condominiums, small businesses. The governor’s job is to provide people with information and if he thinks they should leave based on the best information he has. He should strongly encourage it. He shouldn’t belittle them. He shouldn’t scream at them. He shouldn’t call them names. Just say it like a statesman, you big slob.”

If people had stayed and it was a disaster and Gov. had just asked?? He’d be in jail!! Christie did the right thing.

Posted on September 4, 2011 at 2:02pmI couldn’t agree more with Levin. Christie is a RINO!!
What’s worse is his stance on Global Warming.
Chris Christie had a press conference about Man-made Global Warming and how to fight it:
These quotes were not taken out of context. You can watch the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-qMoqAfViM
Chris Christie:
“I have always said that Climate Change is real and is impacting our state…We (humans) are a part of the problem… we need to work to put policies in place that will work to reduce the contributing factors…
(((at the 5:35 mark))) “The future for New Jersey is in ‘Green Energy’ and we have already we’ve put into place policies to broaden our access to renewable sources of energy, cleaner natural gas generation, and ending our reliance on Coal Generation. Now let me start there: One of the things that I am announcing today is that THERE WILL BE NO NEW COAL PERMITTED IN NEW JERSEY. From this day forward, any plans that anyone has regarding any type of COAL-BASED GENERATION OF ENERGY IS OVER…. We need to commit in New Jersey to making coal a part of our past.”
Now, is it just me, or do these comments sound more like the anointed one, Barack Obama, and not the so called “conservative” Chris Christie??? Obama wants to tax coal-energy our of existence (and of course some can argue that his stance is constitutional…even though it’s not). But CHRIS CHRISTIE wants to flat out make it illegal. If you want more liberal big gove

Posted on September 5, 2011 at 9:46amIs that what people judge when picking their president is their outward appearance? What happened to the good old days when men were judged by their character? That having been said, from a health perspective I hope Christey doesn’t run because I do think the added stress of campaigning would but him at increase risk for a heart attack.

Rep. Paul replied “yes, if we legalize heroin tomorrow, is everyone is going use heroin? How many people here would use heroin if it were legal?” And the audience APPLAUDS!!!!
No wonder so many young folks are supporting Paul these days (maybe even Obama’s young minions once they figure out Paul is okay with drugs and prostitution). Paul appeals to both the young AND dumb.
