Bush Takes Lighthearted Jab at ABC: Just Because You Report it, Doesn’t Mean (it’s True)

Before the birth certificate madness began this morning, there was some other actual news happening. Among that news was a shakeup among the nation’s intelligence heads. So when former President George W. Bush appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” to talk about an upcoming charity bike ride, host George Stephanopoulos decided to ask the president about the shakeup. That’s when this happened:
Bush: Is this gossip or truth?
Stephanopoulos: No, it’s truth, we are reporting it this morning. It is done. It’s being announced later this week.
Bush: Just because you’re reporting it, as you might recall, doesn’t necessarily mean . . . (laughter)
Stephanopoulos: I’m fairly confident on this one, this morning Mr. President.

Posted on April 27, 2011 at 1:46pmOoh, Bush is finally starting to doubt statements? Would’ve been nice when Jesus told him to start a war, and when he was apparently told about all those WMDs.
But hey, if he can quit being an alcoholic, he can quit being ignorant, right?

Posted on April 27, 2011 at 4:57pmNo matter what you think of President Bush, he is a classy guy. He hasn’t gone out of his way to go make excuses for the mistakes he made, nor has he been critical of his replacement. Though in all honesty he probably spends a lot of his time sitting in Texas, watching the news, and laughing hysterically at President Obama.

Posted on April 27, 2011 at 7:01pmDoggone straight. You know, nobody seems to remember the story of Douglas Bader, fighter pilot with the RAF in WWII. He’d lost both his legs in a plane crash before the war, got two prosthetics…and went on to fly Spitfires against the Germans. Shot down over enemy territory, his prosthetics were wrecked. The Germans permitted the RAF to fly a plane in and parachute replacement legs for him to wear in captivity. They wound up taking Bader’s legs away from him though–after his THIRD escape from the POW camp. He was transferred to Colditz Castle, where the “Hard Cases” were sent by the Germans. A shining example of what a man blessed with a will can do.
