Bush to be in New York City for 10th Anniversary of 9/11 With Obama, Giuliani

NEW YORK (The Blaze/AP) — New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said former President George W. Bush will be among the dignitaries at a World Trade Center site ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Bloomberg said former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and President Barack Obama will also attend the ceremony. They will be joined by governors from New York and New Jersey.

Bloomberg said the leaders will read a short poem or quote and won’t give a speech.

“This cannot be political,” Bloomberg said during his weekly radio show Friday. “So that‘s why there’s a poem or a quote or something that each of the readers will read. No speeches whatsoever. That’s not an appropriate thing.”

The ceremony will be held on the highway to the west of the site. Bloomberg says only relatives will be allowed inside to look for the names of their loved ones etched into the railings of two huge waterfalls built in the World Trade Center footprint.

The names of the nearly 3,000 victims – including those who died at the Pentagon and aboard United Flight 93 that went down in Shanksville, Pa., – will be read aloud for the first time.

Bush recently recounted his memories of Sept. 11 in a National Geographic interview set to air in the fall in honor of the anniversary of the attacks.

      Dan Rather indicates he has knowledge of a video clip in custody of CBS News in which Giuliani “holds up” what he claims is a “flight recorder box” from the WTC wreckage.

      - Rather introduces this clip, but immediately a BBC-style “technical problem” prevents its being aired.

      - Giuliani would not make such an announcement to the national media casually–much less “hold up” the object in question–without confirmation that what had been found was indeed a “flight recorder box” and not the remains of some other electronic appliance from the debris.

    amazing how one day of the year, liberals “remember” 9/11….while conservatives think about it everyday….i compare it to those who go to church every sunday compared to those who go only on easter and christmas…..i mean, i’m really really glad that people do go to church, but it would be nice if people thought about i all year ’round……just like 9/11.

      I hope one day it’s remembered as the day the 21st c was inaugurated ;the day of people, all people not nation states ,not regimes not military powers but people were empowered to act in their own interests[as oppoded to memes of national interests which was the paradigmn of the old millenium].i hope it’s remembered as the day when america realized it could not expect to be able to act in the world with impunity [neither seas not military powers could keep blowback from being part of the peoples,all peoples empowerment] .i hope it’s remembered as the day our mass murdering policies abroad came back to bite us.i hope it’s remembered as the day we ralized that one persons terrorist is anothers freedom fighter and we hid behind proxy dictators hence those subjugated people rose up against our unjust meddling for greedy oil and military bases and cold war[kill all arab leftists] interests.i hope its remember as the david slew goliath moment and hundreds of years from now oppressed people will see footage of planes going into huge towers ,smile and say,“you never know”; “there’s hope!”

      Olddog, Pres Bush did lose his way, not sure how to explain that, power maybe???? but this administration is purposely destroying our country….. can’t stand the thought of a classy former president and this thug standing on the same platform remembering 9/11. Pres Bush will be heartbroken thinking about all the people who died during this horrific attack not sure what obama will be thinking about, campaigning or golf to be sure.

      Rumor has it that the reporter was killed in a controlled demolition.

      My Goddaughter’s husband was in the WTC both times it was attacked. Thanks to God he survived both times. Those danged airplane’s just happened to strik each tower at the same time those danged controlled explosions went off. Remarkable timing for a Gov that can‘t fix the leak in it’s pocketbook.

    Good to see they’re trying to keep this non-political. A poem, prayer or inspirational devotion is appropriate.

    It should be a commemoration of reverence to those poor & brave souls who were lost as a result of religious hatred. I pray they don’t desecrate the ceremony w/ a teleprompter.

    It is a shame that ground remains a construction site rather than a shining example of America’s ability to rise from the ashes.

    My prayers are with the families and victims of 911 ( may God bless them all)…and bless MrBush, 2 me he is a good man, put in a tough situation, tho I feel he did make some mistakes in hind sight, I still respect the man!!
    on another note u couldnt pay me 2 be in new york for this event, I think terrorism, may show its ugly face again..for those that will be there I pray that u will be safe, and that nothing happens 2 u!!! and that maybe it will bring us all a little closer and open our eyes a little more!!

    I know Obama has to be there because he’s the President, unfortunately – but it is soooo…………sickening having him there – I can’t bear to watch it, knowing how treasonous he is & pro Muslim Brotherhood, etc. 8-(
    Think it’s great, on the other hand for GWB & Giuliani are there though since they were more than stupendous with the way they handled it & they love this country. God bless them.
    I am also very concerned with terrorist attempts at that time – the whole month of September. Pray!
