Business Writer Jim Collins Agrees to E-Book Deal

NEW YORK (AP) — Another e-book skeptic has converted: business writer Jim Collins.

Harper Business announced Wednesday that Collins has a new book coming out in October, “Great by Choice,” and will make it available for downloads.

The author also has agreed to e-editions of his million-selling “Good to Great,” starting July 19. Three other Collins works will come out as e-books by late September: “Built to Last,” ”How the Mighty Fall“ and ”Good to Great and the Social Sectors.”

As sales for e-books have jumped in the past three years, numerous holdouts have changed their minds. J.K. Rowling announced recently that her Harry Potter books would come out in digital form this fall.

Too easy to “steal” other peoples’ information, creativity and ideas.

I like “the old fashioned way”, really and find myself getting l-a-z-i-e-r and lazier with “easy access” via the web. I like looking stuff up for myself, and I love holding real paper in my hands to read.

    Yes, I’m old. It’s a good thing!

Money talks and literary arrogance walks.

Dontbotherme, I’m 25 and I, too, enjoy the feel of the pages, smell of the books, and the added benefit knowing that the material contained in the book will be available during electrical, and communications failures. I’ve used e-readers before, but don’t care for them one bit.

Vennoye, how right you are: our great republic is no more. We’re riding the success wave of the Greatest Generation, and with their passing, sadly almost complete, the wave is about to come crashing into land and be but a distant memory of “the good ol’ days.”

I LOVE to read. I love the feel of the pages. I love the smell of books. I’m old & this is not for me. Vennoye is right. What if we loose electricity & satellite? The old, printed books also cannot be edited to become politically correct..

We have become a nation who demand “instantaneous gratification” in so many areas…ebooks is just a symptom. Don’t you know we are going to be wonderful people if something happens to our electrical grid/satellite system.
