Left to Right: Harry Dent, Robert Prechte, & Gerald Celente
Despite recent reports that the U.S. economy is “recovering” and that there are signs of economic growth, some analysts are less than thrilled with what they see in the near future. In fact, they’re downright scared.
Harry Dent, author of “The Great Crash Ahead,” believes that the global debt bubble is going to burst and when it does, there will be a massive market crash. It should be noted that this is a revision of his earlier prediction that a crash would hit in 2012. He says he modified his forecast because the global central banks have been pumping the markets with so much money, stocks have been given a temporary boost. But he warns that as soon as the short-lived boost comes to an end, the crash will be hard.
“This will be a repeat of 2008-09, only bigger, when it finally hits,” Dent told USA Today.
Watch a discussion of this topic from Monday night’s broadcast of “Real News From The Blaze” by clicking here.
Gerald Celente, a market analyst at the Trends Research Institute, believes Americans should brace themselves for what he calls an “economic 9/11.” He blames policymakers for their inability to solve the world’s financial and economic woes, according to the USA Today report.
Once the meltdown hits, he says, it will lead to social upheaval, anti-government sentiment, a devalued U.S. dollar, and skyrocketing unemployment.
“Celente won‘t rule out another financial panic that could spark enough fear to cause a run on the nation’s banks by depositors,” USA Today reports. “That risk could cause the government to invoke ‘economic martial law’ and call a ‘bank holiday’ and close banks as it did during the Great Depression.”
“We see some kind of threat of that magnitude,” Celente said in a recent interview.
Robert Prechter, author of “Conquer the Crash,” is being described as “still bearish.” Because he believes there is a frightening amount of similarities between today’s economy and the one preceding the Great Depression, he warns that America should brace for “1930s-style deflation.”
“Prechter predicts that the major U.S. stock indexes, such as the Dow Jones industrials and Standard & Poor’s 500, will plunge below their bear market lows hit in March 2009 during the last financial crisis,” USA Today reports. “The brief recovery will fail as it did in the 1930s, he says.”
What does this mean? Well, if Prechter is correct, stocks stand to lose more than half of their value.
“The economic recovery has been weak, so the next downturn should generate bad news in a big way,” Prechter said in an e-mail interview. “For the third time in a dozen years, the stock market is in a very bearish position.”
But what about all that “positive” economic news we keep hearing about?
Take, for example, recent reports that the markets are rebounding. Many economists have noted that the markets are finally approaching pre-2008 levels.
“Tech stocks in the Nasdaq composite are trading at levels last seen in 2000. Data on auto sales, manufacturing and consumer confidence have been firming. Job creation is also on the rise. The unemployment rate dipped to 8.3% in January, its lowest level in three years,” USA Today argues.
Furthermore, economists and market analysts are updating their forecasts and predicting a hopeful and bright economic future. Some have even bet that the eurozone will stabilize.
So why are Prechter, Celente, and Dent so worried?
“Dent says the combination of aging Baby Boomers exiting their big spending years and a shift toward debt reduction and austerity around the world will cause the economy to suffer another severe leg down, making it more difficult for the government and Federal Reserve to avert a new meltdown,” USA Today reports.
Celente, on the other hand, who has also been warning of economic disaster for years, believes that the national debt and “income inequality” has put the U.S. in a very dangerous place.
He warns that bank runs, brought about by social unrest, will wreak sever economic havoc. He also warns that the current economic crisis could very easily transform into real violence. He believes the markets will be turned upside down by not only the eurozone crisis but also by an increase in oil prices due to the standoff between Iran and the West.
“2012 is when many of the long-simmering socioeconomic and political trends that we have been forecasting and tracking will climax,” Celente wrote in his “Top 12 Trends 2012” newsletter.
“When money stops flowing to the man on the street, blood starts flowing in the street,” he added in an interview.
So, although some are economists are advising investors to jump back into the markets, these three analysts are warning that a different strategy is needed.
“Get out of the way,” Dent advises.
His solution? Buy short-term U.S. Treasury bills and the U.S. dollar, which will benefit from safe-haven cash flows. Forget stocks; they’ll fall in value.
Celente advises investors to buy gold – it won’t lose its purchasing power when the dollar tanks. Also, he says, buy a gun to protect yourself from marauders in search of food and money. He also advises people to plan a getaway to places with “more stable finances and governments.”
Prechter’s advice? Simple: keep your powder dry and buy when the economy starts to get out of hand.
“When things get really scary, as in early 2009, I get bullish,” he said.

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 5:06amWhile preparing for disasters is obviously important, it’s important not to go off into crazyville. Also, economists predict collapses all the time. It’s nothing new. Eventually they‘ll be right and then everyone pretends that they’re an economic prophet.

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 2:24pmHey Gibbs and Anonymous,
Once again your “dumbness” is amazing. Lets see…if I buy some silver, extra food and guns what harm have I done? Lets break it down:
1) I started collecting canned food over the last few years. If I am wrong I have extra food around to eat or give to charity. Final outcome: Tax write off/money saved/convenience of not shopping for a while.
2) Bought Silver over time and doubled and quadrupled my investment. Hmmm…pretty much a no brainer there.
3) Ammo and Guns: Of the guns I have bought over the last few years they ALL have increased in value and demand. I also have ammo that has increased in price and demand. Outcome: Investment $$$
4) Have a generator and some extra fuel. Ummm, still no negatives yet.
So let me see. Everything I have “invested” in over the past 4 years while wearing my “tin foil” hat has increased in value and convenience. If I am wrong, I have food, guns worth more money, ammo to have fun shooting and a generator/fuel that will get good use for my band when we play out. So your point is “only buy one roll of toilet paper at a time, because stocking up on toilet paper is crazy and stupid”. The point you dopes aren‘t getting is I’ll use all this stuff regardless. Oh, and if the SHTF, I‘ll have it and you won’t. Who’s stupid? I’ll leave you with this: “better to have and not need than need and not have”. Happy scavenging!!!

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 2:43pm@Raderby- True! The young refuse to listen. I am 60, retired, and am already seeing the collapse slowly happening. Even with a cost-of-living-allowance (COLA) on my EARNED pension, it is immediately taken back with massive increases in healthcare premiums (So much for the “Affordable Healthcare Act of 2010- “Obamacare”), plus since I turned 60, my life insurance premiums just went up. Add to that the skyrocketing cost of heating oil, gasoline and food and you don’t need to be a Prepper to be extremely nervous.
Another thing: Our property rights are slipping away. Ever since the SCOTUS stuck us with the Kelo Decision, there is a massive land grab by municipalities for development; taxes stay high regardess of the constant DEVALUATION of our homes and land!
There are very few jobs for all the masses of NEA indoctrinated Socialists coming out of the public schools, and we are 16 Trillion in debt, so where will the money come from to pay today’s retirees, much less any others, and let’s not forget the Welfare State.

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 2:49pmA general sound rule of advice that will prep anyone anywhere.
Get a FOID card, it’s easier than obtaining a drivers license. Get one now before the rules become so strict that you probably can’t get one.
Buy a gun, it doesn’t have to be an AK47, glock, Uzi, or any military grade. A cheap .22cal is better than having nothing. Bearing arms is your right. Pick one up now while some are as cheap as $20, before a government taxes and regulates them so much that a .22cal rabbit rifle will cost more than a mortgage payment.
Get a good book on basics. In any event you don’t have internet, it’s a good idea to have a handyman book, a cooking guide, an outdoors manual, anything. I personally have an Amish guide to living. It contains blueprints, designs, everything needed for basic life from building tools, making homemade soap, cooking with cast iron, animal cleaning, and basic indoor plumbing. I also have alongside wiring 101 and mechanics bare essentials. Knowledge is great, but it does you no good if you can’t access it.
Keep $100 in currency hidden in a secure place. Always need good ole paper money when the plastic doesn’t work for some reason and no place will take checks.
Last…. a first aid kit and a batteryless flashlight. Why a home doesn’t have one just for modern life is beyond me. Keep the wind up flashlight and firstaid kit in the same place. Everyone needs a flashlight, and those wind up ones are just handy if the power ever goes out

“Robert, it’s fascinating that you bring up the subject of homosexuality in a completely unrelated context. ”
It isn’t an unrelated context. What you obviously are explains a lot of why you say things that obviously has an underlyinbg motive, because they’re deceitful, dishonest and they’re misinformed and really, just plain ignorant. But there’s no mistaking your uynderlying purposes and motivations.
I find it facinating that leftist freaks are always with the opinion they’re fooling somebody.
Based in homosexuality you say? Nonsense. How about based in keen perception?

“robert, I haven’t said anything hateful to you, although most of your remarks toward me have been.”
And after writing that you continued on to make snide, hateful remarks and make reference to a misspoken word.
Your posts are usually always based in hate when you comment originally, and when you respond to somebody’s comment. Your reason for coming on this site is based in hatred.
You come on here specifically to denigrate and belittle, because you want to spew your hatred. You’re full of hatred for conservatives, those who embrace traditional American values, but especially Christians, because they refuse to embrace perversions.
And you’re loathing of Christianity extends to Catholics, as you indicated when you wrote: “If Santorum is elected, he’ll be getting his marching orders from the Pope. The US will become a Catholic dictatorship.”
That remark is steeped in hate for Catholics and Christianity in general.
And you despise anybody who legitimately warns of a looming disaster like Gerald Celente, a very highly respected figure in the field of trends forecasts, because he reports things you know will bring your radical leftist agenda to a screeching halt.

Matthew 24:38-42
King James Version (KJV)
38For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
40Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
41Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
42Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Acts1:11
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
The rapture is a literal event. He goes to prepare a place…if it were not so he would not have told us. God is not a man so he cannot lie…question: Do you believe he is the son of God? he who has seen him, HAS seen the Father.

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 4:25am~~We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God and God abides in him.
By this, love is perfected with us, that we may have confidence int he day of judgement; because as He is, so also are we in this world.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
We love because He first loved us.
If someone says,” I love God, ” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.
Whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world —- our faith.

Just like when a woman starts to have labor pains, she knows what is going to happen.
Do I advocate “just lay back and wait”..? No. In the meantime, we continue on in the faith, Tech. We work, we tell others of the Truth of God. We tell others the way back Home ( Through Jesus Christ).
I just know who I can trust and who I do not trust. Don’t place your trust in yourself because you will choose from self and for self every time (This is what Adam did …he chose from self).

Posted on March 4, 2012 at 3:27pmI totally agree FATHER or GOD is love and those that love the LORD will have no fear as they are protected by GOD. This is just the mortal body; but GOD also tells us of those who do not love HIM that HE shall pour out HIS wrath on them. HE gave us his word and also a brain or grey matter to have ears to hear and eyes to see; but many do not choose that path. I do believe that many have died in the name of loving the LORD and many more shall; but hey… remember this is just the beginning and our time here is to prove whether we choose to love GOD or follow the ways of the world or satan??? Your free will…. make a choice and stick with it.
No one but FATHER knows the day or the hour…. I choose to be a watchman and pay attention to the signs and seasons… That is my choice; Any of you have the same choice; read his word; not listen to a preacher; do your own homework, learn Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic and see what it says; there is nothing new under the sun… This happened before and will happen again; even our forefathers of the new world knew if you give single men enough power they will abuse it and they have…
But I did not mean to preach here; but did not see some full truths of FATHER’s word hear; so I decided to throw in my 3 cents worth inflation being what it is; or would that be 102 cents by now the way our government is printing money; oh did you know gasoline is the same price it was in the 1940′s… 2 silver dimes went as far back then as it does now???

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.”
Be prepared to share food, shelter, and the word of God with your neighbors and especially Christians who may not be prepared…Remember to love one another as that is His greatest commandment. Nope they are a big source of income for retirees. They will sell those stocks to move into something else that might provide some income. People and pension funds have been buying those stocks and reinvesting the dividends. These are huge blue chip stocks. Of course, he is also a Catholic and has admitted that he does not believe in any basic human rights. He cannot even see that it is a human right to be able to defend one’s self.
While I love my family, I know that they need to reap the oats that they have sown and if they ever do so and repent, I might then help them. But from all actions thus far, the older generations are not going to even acknowledge their mistakes or trespasses whichever the case may be.

From one SGT to another, I am one of those terrible people you are talking about.
Do you work for an employer? If you do, you surely know that Social Security is an involuntary tax that the employee and the employer must pay. You are stuck paying it. No choice. That makes it not an entitlement. It makes it a pension plan I and my employers paid into. It isn’t government money. I have been paying into Social Security since 1965. I have been paying into Medicare since 1972 which is another forced tax I resent paying.
What really sucks about Social Secuity, is that the government couldn’t keep their hands off of it. Since they keep draining the Social Security pool for any reason, our politicians on both sides scare old people with the threat of losing Social Security. The ones who get scared are those that grew up in the Depression and/or have no other savings or pensions to supplement retirement income.
I personally have never liked Social Security. I always felt I could do a better job managing my money. My 401k and investment accounts are reflective of that belief.
Frankly, I am getting tired of people calling Social Security an entitlement. It is not. It is not welfare, unemployment insurance or any other Government give away. It is a forced tax paid.
Shake the crap out of your brain bucket. We are just as much a victim of the government as you are.

Report Post »I think the difference here is between generations. As part of the younger generation, I don’t expect to receive anything that gov is forcing me to contribute to. I just wish I would have enjoyed the time your generation had through the Reagan Bush and Clinton years and the opportunity to have braced for the future like you did. I’m not trying to be a victim, like you, but reality is reality. Your generation (generally speaking) slept under the covers of great opportunity while our country was being destroyed. Most baby boomers I know are ignorant when it comes to politics, but when it comes as a threat to their SS or medicare they become experts and point their finger haphazzardly at any reality or threat. Many in the younger generation want to opt out and accept the losses made by the bad decision your gen made. But if that comes as a threat to your entitlement, even though it’s not our responsibility, your gen won’t hear tell of it.
I think we just got to all work together, accept reality and try to fix the mess without all the blaming.

First, Thank you for your Service Sgt! Second, you are correct, but only to the point that you do not receive one dime more than you paid into SS…plus reasonable interest. I have paid in as well, but I don’t want one more red cent than what I contributed, and….I don‘ t have any doubt that I won’t see one cent of what I contributed, as I am one generation behind you. That I believe is the fundamental difference. Medicare part A is paid into, but the others are “entitlements”…. Bottom line is that someone screwed up the math, and NO ONE is willing to admit it, much less correct it in THEIR lifetime. Sad but True! God help us all! He is all we will have left besides each other when it finally hits the wall.

Hopefully the crash won‘t happen for a couple of months and I’ll move my stuff back before it happens. Celente saying “protect yourself from marauders” he is predicting a Mad Max style of living where it’s every man for himself. I know Celente got burned from Corzine’s MF Global. If that really happens like Celente thinks, life is going to really suck. It will be like going back 100 years in standard of living. So you have people saying to prepare for economic doomsday and then you have our government saying you’re a terrorist if you do prepare. You can’t win. Next our government will have spies at Costco and Sams Club watching who’s buying food in bulk. After all, there’s nothing more dangerous than a person running around with a pizza in their hand. This disaster is coming. There is pretty much no stopping it I am afraid. Look at our current field to run our country.
Obama – he is literally trying to run this country into the ground. Spending increases, more wars, more debt, keeps the fed, less freedom.
Romney – only cuts spending increases, more wars, more debt, keeps the fed, less freedom(NDAA).
Gingrich – less spending cuts in future increases than Romney, more wars, more debt, keeps the fed, he is a globalist.
Santorum – in between Romney and Gingrich on future spending increases, more wars, more debt, keeps the fed, he is a big government guy.
Paul – cuts 1 trillion dollars from the budget first year, less war, less debt, phases out the fed, restores the Constitution, hated by both sides, hated by the media, labeled a crazy person.
We are screwed. I am ready. I am voting for Ron Paul either way. When the SHTF we will either come out of this a new free United States or we will come out as the new Communist States of America.

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 1:40amI last saw Dent at a Harvard Business School dinner here in San Diego at which he was the guest speaker – probably sometime around 2005. His premise was simple and difficult t argue with:
The fancy socio-economic models many prognosticators rely on are silly in the same way global warming models are: overly complex; utterly inadequate; myopic. Rather, Dent believed (in 2005) one should look forward simply by seeing the movement of the baby boom population bulge as it ages … and tracking that with products desired by people of that age group. His highlight was about housing:
Dent: When people are newly married, in their 20′s, they want a starter home. The baby boom passed through this stage in the 1980s. When these people reach their 40′s & 50′s (2000) they are near peak earning power, have lots of kids at home, and want large homes. Thus, the popularity of McMansions. When people reach retirement age they will no longer have kids at home, will not be earning as much, will not want the expense and trouble of huge homes. It will become nearly impossible to sell such things as the demand will dry up.”
Dent predicted this would occur in 2012 (it was 7 years ago when he said this). Several weeks ago we saw an article discussing exactly this problem with large homes.
Dent was not only right – he was even correct about the time frame.
So, I tend listen when this guy speaks. Like Beck, he seems pretty good at staying above the trees and seeing the rea

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 12:28pmI have been following what Dent has been talking about for 15 years now. He has always used demographics to model economics not trends in the currency or stock markets. It is simply about the demographics. We currently have the largest generation EVER in US history retiring, they are so big that the next two generations combined are BARELY equal to their size. Combine that with the longer lifespan of Americans and you will soon have more people retired then there are people under the age of 65. Hence, the system goes upside down permanently and never recovers.
Report Post »Dent talked about this happening, when I first heard, in the next 10-15 years, which puts us right in his window of 2010-2015. One of his markers would be a “temporary” drop in the market followed by a HUGE surge..maybe even up to the level of 15-20000 in the DOW, everyone would rush into the market and then the hammer would fall, the bubble would burst, and financial ruin would steamroller people for the next 1 to 2 decades.. YES..10-20 years of DEPRESSION!!

This is all been in micro steps for decades, and the money traces back to the global elites like Soros and the other billionaires. What will the result be if the fiat/financial cataclysm be? Massive inflation as central banks flood the market to replace credit lost with bank collapse. 50%-100% inflation, who wouldn’t be begging for a new currency that is stable? They are set to buy up things with pennies, if not fraction of a penny on the dollar during bad times when everything has to be sold or foreclosed. I go to the range once every other month, and I will only shot at ranges with a tactical course. Target shooting is a waste since your targets will be moving, and shooting back at you. Another thing I do is I go to the archade once per week, and will play those first person shooter games. This really helps with depth perception, and actually helps keep your targeting skills intacted with going to the range less. Also if you do take my suggestions be sure to use different games switching up from week to week so you don’t get used to the game play.

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 8:27am@mmabri – Call of Duty and BF3 will definitely work. The thing that people need to remember is that having a high reaction time through FPS‘s doesn’t do any good if you are physically incapable of performing the moves necessary to get the job done.

You are dead bang on. Anyone who thinks their home is defensible in depth is a fool. Any typical suburban house will get rolled over within 5 minutes. The walls only give the impression of safety. There are too many windows and doors to cover.
People have to join into some type of trust group where mutual protection and cooperation are the goals. While you might still end up doing an Alamo, at least you are not a “lone wolf” who won’t survive first contact. Anyone who has any military experience knows this is the answer.
Usual advice. stock up on food, water, ammo and medical supplies. When currency, gold and silver stop, a good batering item is cigarettes. Cigarettes are currency since they are discretionary. When they are in short supply, their value increases. I bet a lot of non-smokers will become smokers. I didn’t really smoke until I was on the receiving end of a rocket attack. That’s when I learned cigarettes had value.

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 1:04pmFor anyone without military experience looking to defend their home may I suggest “Holding YOUR ground” by Joe Nobody. It is different than “Holding THEIR ground” by the same author as that is a fiction book.
Those with military experience will not find it useful, but those uninitiated will find some useful information in it. Good Luck.
