CA Cops: Missing ‘Cult-Like’ Group May Be Planning Mass Suicide

PALMDALE, Calif. (AP) 
Deputies searched a wide swath of Southern California early Sunday for a break-off religious sect of 13 people that included children as young as three and left behind letters indicating they were awaiting an apocalyptic event and would soon see Jesus and their dead relatives in heaven, authorities said. The group of El Salvadoran immigrants, described as “cult-like” by sheriff’s officials, was led by Reyna Marisol Chicas, a 32-year-old woman from Palmdale in northeast Los Angeles county, sheriff’s Captain Mike Parker said.

Posted on September 19, 2010 at 1:38pmAs a pro-lifer (all life, not just the select) the “let the adults” comments saddens me more than the actual story. What a horrible reflection of our Culture of Death society. If someone is going to commit suicide especially in light of their children being involved, I believe we have an obligation to search for the entire family…to restore the family unit as a reflection of the Culture of Life.
Some claim “life, liberty & pursuit of happiness”….that is Life for all, not just the ones we judge a loony. Those aren’t just adults, but they are parents, husbands, wifes, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc… All involved will be in need of extensive therapy anyway. Keeping the family unit together promotes healing. Clearly, some children are in-fact better off without their biological parents, however in an article like this, it is impossible to judge.
I have so much more to add however these short sentences about sums it up.
I do pray the Lord be with them and encourage a conversion of heart.

Posted on September 19, 2010 at 2:32pmSadly, while one would want to preserve all the lives of those involved, when an adult chooses a fatal path and is determined to follow through, there is very little that will stop them. I saw this over and over again when I worked in a psychiatric facility, and a friend of ours also sees this on the police force.
I hope and pray that all of them will be found alive. I particularly pray that there will be a hedge of protection around the kids, as they trust their parents and most likely have little or no concept of the consequences.

Thers been lots of these kind of cults over the years and I cant remember any that ran and hid, most just commit suicide wereever their at!
I tend to agree with this and here is the reason. They mentioned that the so called cult was from a Christian group. It seems to me one way of having people say well if it was a Christian group then what do you think other Christian groups are going to do??? This is just a thought. Or what if they were being abused at the place that they were staying and ran away or…dare I say murder???
Like I said earlier I hope that no one got hurt.
