CA Planned Parenthood Joins Pro-Choice Clergy to Launch ‘40 Days of Prayer’ In Support of Abortion

This story has been updated.

Planned Parenthood Join Pro Choice Clergy to Launch 40 Days of Prayer In Support of Abortion

Screen shot from the Planned Parenthood/Clergy for Choice brochure

The Six Rivers Planned Parenthood of Eureka, California, has been advertising a prayer campaign that may cause some head-scratching among religious individuals who stand opposed to abortion.

The initiative, “40 Days of Prayer: Supporting Women Everywhere,” provides 40 different prayers that can be offered up in support of abortion rights.

The invocations were originated by a group called Faith Aloud and were written by Rev. Rebecca Turner, the organization’s executive director. For years, they have been used by independent abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood (here’s a past press release that further explains the initiative). Now, it seems the local, California-based Planned Parenthood office is also taking part in the effort.

The conservative Liberty Council, a legal and education non-profit, claims that the prayers in the Six Rivers leaflet include consideration for “the mothers, the escorts, the abortionists,” but that there are no mentions of the unborn children. The local version of the campaign is being supported by a group called Clergy for Choice, which describes itself as follows:

We are religious leaders who value all human life.  We accept that religions differ about when life begins. We are here to help.

We believe that human life is holy. That’s why we believe in your right to choose to be a parent or not.

In a brochure published on the Six Rivers Planned Parenthood web site, some extremely controversial prayers are touted. On Day 4, the clergy encourage people to give thanks “for the doctors who provide quality abortion care” and on Day 5, they encourage prayer “for medical students who want to include abortion care in their practice.”

Planned Parenthood Join Pro Choice Clergy to Launch 40 Days of Prayer In Support of Abortion

Liberty Council is less than pleased with the group’s intentions and, in a press release, goes on to compare its tactics to those used by Nazi Germany:

The concerted effort of this group to dehumanize children based on their age is similar to a tactic once used in Nazi Germany towards the Jews and other non-Arians: first ostracize them from the rest of society, and then annihilate them. Planned Parenthood’s attempts to develop a “spiritual” aspect to the pro-abortion argument can seem comparable to the religious leaders in Germany who supported Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. It was wrong then and it is wrong now.

Planned Parenthood Join Pro Choice Clergy to Launch 40 Days of Prayer In Support of Abortion

The group goes on to call Planned Parenthood’s involvement in the “40 Days of Prayer” a “desperate attempt to regain positive attention and funding.”

Additionally, Liberty Council accuses the abortion provider (and, more broadly, by default, the campaign’s creator — Faith Aloud) of mimicking and mocking a Christian group that works to prevent abortion called “40 Days for Life.” Often times the group, which claims to have already saved 804 babies this year, targets Planned Parenthood locations with protest activities. There is also another anti-abortion initiative called “40 Days to Save America,” which was created by Vision America.

“Planned Parenthood’s ‘prayer’ campaign is offensive,” proclaims Mathew Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel. “As much as they might not like the comparison, Planned Parenthood today is no different than the eugenics promoted by its founder Margaret Sanger who advocated the elimination of ‘undesirables,’ just like the most famous eugenicist, Adolf Hitler.”

The prayers are intended to be uttered between March 18 and April 27 (here’s the PDF of the entire brochure). Planned Parenthood, via its web site, even offers to connect women to clergy to discuss questions and concerns.

      Matthew 23 : 27-33 (KJV)
      Jesus Speaking.

27Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you are like to white washed sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. 28Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but within you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
29Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because you build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchers of the righteous, 30And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. 31Why you be witnesses to yourselves, that you are the children of them which killed the prophets. 32Fill you up then the measure of your fathers. 33You serpents, you generation of vipers, how can you escape the damnation of hell?

“For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves . Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears.” – Acts 20: 29-31

“as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked;” — 2 Peter 3: 16,17

Their prayers will not be heard, and are just noise that bounce off the ceiling.

      Isaiah 59

1Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

2But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

3For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

Heavenly Father grant us the ability to continue the parctice of murdering unwanted child as a form of Birth control. And soften the hearts of those who seek to stop us in our quest to continue to murder unwanted children……..Yeah that’s sound real Christian. Any church that would support the planned parenthood ISN’T A CHURCH OF JESUS,GOD, OR THE HOLY SPIRIT.
They are the quintessential false prophets whose only real goal is profit

Amen to that! There is something very vile about painting a religious front on murder. As people are having such difficulty deciphering good from evil, a bit of religion mixed in could cause some to believe this is good.

Lord, please soften the hearts that are turned from you, and give eyes to see and ears to heart to the followers of these false prophets who lead their followers like sheep to the slaughter. Please open the eyes of all who believe the lies in this age, so that they will choose life eternal, by choosing You.

All the scriptures above are spot on, well done.

“They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire [for] burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake [it], neither came [it] into my mind:” (Jeremiah 19:5)

When most hear “Anti-Christ”, they think “against” or “opposed” to Christ. The Greek term is better rendered Pseudo, or counterfeit Christ.
“The coming of the [lawless one] is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,” (2 Thessalonians 2:9)
This 40 days is a counterfeit of Jesus’ 40 days in the desert where He was offered the kingdom of this world by Satan. This time Satan is leading the 40 days in the wilderness, and I hope they are approached by Christ and offered entrance into His kingdom.

I will tell you why these monsters would have such a prayer, no prayer from our heavenly father would accept this. Its a prayer to the devils world. There is no pro choice. What is that when we are talking about a life from our creator. It should of been pro life before she got herself pregnant. I had made some wrong choices long ago,i was pregnant, young but my family insisted that i adopt this child through an adoption agency. And i know we made the right choice. And gods pleased with that choice we made.Because i gave that child life. To all young mothers i plead in the name of jesus, dont let anyone tell you abortion is the best way, they are liers, listen to the spirit of truth. And that is god speaking to you. God will direct your paths. And make a way where men of this world will lead you astray.

      GOD IS PRO-CHOICE !!!

      Deuteronomy 30:

19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

By killing others they have made their choice. They have the judged the innocent as guilty of being an inconvenience and choose to sentence them to death.
Jesus had something to say about this, actually a lot to say about this but here is a little of it.
      Matthew 7:2
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
      Luke 17:2
It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

Thought I’d heard everything, and I’m about the most realistic person around, but I must say this was a little shocking. However, after that knee-jerk reaction, I remembered there are a rampant humongous number of people who call themselves “Christians”, “religious”, “clergy” that really aren‘t and many of those actually believe they are doing God’s will – just like the Muslims think they are doing “Allah’s” will – all fooled by satan & they willingly accept it and don’t try to find the truth.
Yes, you can be “religious leaders” — just like in Bible times – the “religious leaders” who hated Jesus and plotted to have him crucified. You are serving satan and he is your God.
But yes – we must pray for all these people – Jesus died for them….He came to save the “unrighteous” and those blinded & held in “prison” by satan. So we all need to pray for them and also try to point them to the Truth whenever we have the opportunity. I think God is allowing all this to happen in order to show us how evil and corrupt people can become, even in a “Christian” nation & hopefully wake up all apathetic Christians. We are in very dire straits in all areas.

It’s getting to the point that I do not refer to myself as a christian anymore, because of this corruption of the meaning. I say that I am a follower of Christ. Scripture clearly say’s that prior to the return of Christ christians will be killed and those doing it will believe that they are doing the “will of God”.
Completely delusional people they will be , so much so that they will actually fight against Christ HIMSELF !!!

I find this to be the most unbelievable words of scripture. But many here, (thank God) can see this comming true before our very eyes …. so sad :-(.

I don’t think Baal fits, more like Belphegor, Prince of Vanity and Sloth. Baal is more associated with the vice of Gluttony. Although there are variations. The Ancient Baal was also worshiped as a pagan fertility God. While the murder of unborn children might please this particular demon/pagan god, the attitude and common motivations to do so does not seem in his purview.

Then again, it might be more in line with the Temple of Set or the Church of Satan, both of which advocate self deification. When one is oneself a god, then any action is justifiable as long as it benefits you. Normally in such philosophies the long term benefits or harm to you do not matter, it is the immediate expediency of self gratification. Aleister Crowley’s “Do what thou wilt, shall be the whole of the law.” As well as the anti Christian antics of Anton Szandor LaVey. They will, of course, as stated in the article, attempt to alleviate subconscious guilt of their atrocious actions by redefining human life. If it isn’t human, it cannot be murder. It is the same reasoning that others have used in the past to perform horrible atrocities, the blacks aren’t human so it is okay to enslave them, the Indians aren’t human so it is okay to slaughter them, the Jews aren’t human so it is okay to gas them, babies in the womb aren’t human so it is okay to crush their skulls and suck them out with a vacuum cleaner.

      Zechariah 8:16-23
      King James Version (KJV)
16These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:

17And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.

18And the word of the LORD of hosts came unto me, saying,

19Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace.

20Thus saith the LORD of hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities:

21And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also.

22Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD.

23Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.

Why am I shocked/not shocked by this? Shocked because anyone who knows God knows God is PRO LIFE. He CREATED IT! #facedesk I am NOT shocked because these are the false prophets that Christ warned about. The only one that will be answering their evil prayers will be their god, Baal.

These sound like the false prophets warned of in I and II Timothy. They give an illusion of piety and godliness, but deep down, THEY are neither. In fact, these people have more or less renounced God and life so they can remain popular in the eyes of men.

Yeah, when they get to the OTHER SIDE, and are confronted with the souls of the 57 million + aborted children, I wonder what their answer will be for them? Sorry, you didn’t matter? Our concern was for the born and alive?

No better than the Nazi appointed bishops, the Stalinist priests, and the state-led imams.

When standing there answering for the several million lives they have destroyed without abortion. What will they say when asked why they let those alive be put into servitude and torment and torture? Why they let kidnappers have children they weren’t meant by god to have? Why they let the state have more power than it should have ever had and violated its own constitution doing so?Why they disrespected there own forefathers? Why they disrespected there own fathers and mothers who gave them common sense?
Why did you do that?We thought we were following you and being faithful of lord.
The women who had an abortion is brought up in front of him.Asked why she had an abortion and why she should be forgiven? She explained the points above and that she couldn’t single handidly change the world. At this point in time god forgives the women and lets her into heaven.Which makes the false believers very angry. After a few choice words he threw them into hell. When they asked why he stated that their self righteousness was more of a sin as they had plenty of chances to stop and humble themselves.Instead they used his name to destroy a abomination he couldn’t tolerate.

A massive reduction in births in California will result in a lessening of LIBERAL LOONIES in the future. Maybe then California can no longer claim to be the welfare capitol of the world.

Abortion is a SIN! It is no more than the ancients who practiced child sacrifice and made their children “Walk through the fire”. If California wants to become the “Abortion Capitol” of the world than so be it.

The best part about a pro-life campaign is that we can point to people in this world that wouldn’t be here without it. Also because they’re very effective, from their website “22 abortion facilities completely shut down following local 40 Days for Life campaigns”

oh liberals, you only use religion when you feel it works to your advantage, the rest of the time is spent ripping it to shreds. How about I spend 40 days praying for the confused souls who have been misled to think abortion is a solution to a problem, not a termination of an unexpected blessing
