Porn Star Cable TV Show Character Goes by ‘Sarah Palin’ to Get Abortion

Sons of Anarchy, a primetime show on FX cable network, took an opportunity to jab pro-lifers and Sarah Palin during a Tuesday night episode in which a porn-star character ventures to her local clinic for an abortion and uses the former Alaska governor’s name:
“You must think I’m a freak, right? Porn star? Baby killer?” the character asks.
Well, yes, I do. But don’t worry — I’m sure Hollywood more than approves.

It was designed to insure that a central government was controlled and limited by representatives of those citizens. It was given a limited amount of power, with many checks and balances, to secure the rights and freedoms for its citizens. They were making sure that an American Government would and could not become as Britian had. England enacted laws and taxes on their American subjects, but without allowing the colonies a say in their government. Ignoring the will of the people of America, they bullied and took away what limited rights they had and tried to force them to comply. Sound familiar? Yes, we don’t have to look far across the Atlantic at a despotic leader, we have only to look at the Oval Office in Washington, D. C. and to those whom we had entrusted the liberties of the people and the country. Our representatives, Senate and the House, are there to represent the will of the people. Instead, they have consistently lied to their constituents, both during campaigns and when in office. They have consistently robbed the American people, not only of their money, but also by stealing their liberties, little by little. The incumbent office holders allow themselves to be above the law, they allow themselves to steal by back-room corrupt deals and the like. They ignore the very people who put them in office, they even resort to passing laws, under cover of darkness. They hide laws and corrupt deals in the midst of thousand of pages of laws. This has always been a trick of unethical lawyers. Their mindset is to bog down any opposition by inudating them with mountains of paperwork. Then, they laugh and call the people stupid and ignorant, or worse! No doubt, I could go on and on. Their lack of character, morals and ethics makes them unfit to be employed anywhere, let alone entrusted with the security, freedom, and economic growth of this great country. They have taken your freedom to worship, especially targeting Christianity. They have tried to rewrite the American history, to further their agendas, just like the Moslems continue to do with Israel.
Soon after deciding what sort of Government America was to become, that very question was asked of Benjamin Franklin. In reply Franklin said, “A Republic….if we can keep it”. This is a question that should be upon the lips of all true American patriots. If we can’t or more correctly, if we won’t, then we don’t deserve it. The choice is up to us, the American people, and the answer should be and must be yes we will!
You’re probably asking how do we insure that we will keep this nation a free Republic. Oh, we voted for only those who promised no more taxes, no more spending, etc., etc. Of course they all were proven to be liars again (or should I have said they were just not quite forthcoming or perhaps they were a little disingenuious?). Then we did the “best of the two evils” choice. This was no different than the “Magician’s Choice” trick! We now know that there is no difference between Republicans and the Democrats when it comes to which is telling the truth. Neither has the best interest of America at heart, probably not even in mind! Their goal is simply to acquire power, money, more power and more money while doing and saying anything to remain in office.
So what is the answer? They don’t listen when the people, overwhelmingly, protest and tries to voice their opposition. So the American people need to get their UNDIVIDED attention. How? WE THE PEOPLE, must vote any and all incumbents out of office. It doesn’t matter if they are better than most. If they haven’t been part of the solution, then they are part of the problem. THEY MUST KNOW AND WE MUST LET THEM KNOW THAT GOVERNMENT WILL NO LONGER BE RUN BY ROUGUE LAWYERS AND OPPORTUNISTS, PROGRESSIVES (AKA SOCIALISTS), ETC. THEY ARE NOTHING MORE THAN MODERN-DAY CARPETBAGGERS OR WANNA-BE DICTATORS. THEY MUST BE EDUCATED TO THE FACT THAT THEY WILL BE VOTED OUT AGAIN AND AGAIN, UNTIL THEY LEARN THAT OUR REPRESENTATIVES ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO RUN THEIR OWN VERISON OF CRIME, INC.
AND THOSE THAT ARE ELECTED TO OFFICE, BUT CONTINUE TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR THEIR OWN BENEFIT WILL SOON LEARN THEY WILL HAVE ONLY ONE TERM IN OFFICE.
We, the people, need to lobby our newly elected representatives to enact new laws to insure ALL our freedoms, our security, etc. Enact laws that ethical or criminal behavior of representatives will be prosecuted swiftly and severly, with no possibility of any pardon…not by a state Governor nor by a President! Enact laws or amendments to limit a President to one term only, ensuring that any damage to our country will not be as damaging as is obvious with this Government. Further limit the terms of our Representatives, both in the Senate and the House. Imperative to limit the term of all Supreme Court Justices to no more than an eight year term and make an amendment that the justices can no longer re-interpret the Constitution, but uphold the laws as it was written and intended by the original framers.
So, the bottom line is this: unless the American people get the undivided attention of those in government…when you and your family members are homeless and hungry or at the very least jobless…remember, you have only yourselves to blame.
THE ONLY WAY TO INSURE THAT YOUR FUTURE REPRESENTATIVES WILL LISTEN TO ITS CONSTITUENTS IS VOTE OUT ALL INCUMBENTS!!! FROM THAT POINT ON, EACH REPRESENTATIVE MUST KNOW WE WILL VOTE THEM OUT AGAIN AND AGAIN UNTIL WE HAVE RESPONSIBLE REPRESENTATIVES THAT UNDERSTAND THEY ARE THERE FOR THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE.

This is the first comment I have ever left on this site, and in fact I even though I read the stories on the Blaze everyday, I just signed up now because of this particular posting.
As a very strong conservative, I actually find this show to be one of the few entertaining shows on TV that has a conservative background and message attached to it. Although every person is certainly open to their interpretation on what kinds of characters the people are on this show are, I disagree with the overwhelming sentiment that many are saying here as a show about “unwashed, scummy biker gang.“ I think that is the same kind of elitist opinion that Liberals have about ”fly over country” where the bitter gods and gun lovers live.
The characters on this show are in fact a part of a biker gang. However, the structure of the organization, its purpose, and most of their activities are pretty conservative and “traditional” in the American sense. They own their own garage as a legit business and service to the town they live in. Their one illegal activity is that they sell guns, something that they believe should not have laws restricting gun ownership (pro gun rights). In order to be able to do this, the police turn a blind eye to their activities, and in return they watch over the town and make sure no one is selling drugs to kids or doing other things that would upset the tranquil nature of their small american town. Whenever there is a problem people come to them and they willingly help. If someone is or some group is causing trouble in town, they deal with it. They are a main sponsor and contributor to the towns annual festival and fund raiser, doing all kinds of things to raise money for the town and charity organizations there. Essentially their view is “get the government (police) out of lives and we can take care of each other.
In the show the government is often portrayed as corrupt and over reaching, trying to infringe on the delicate and successful balance of things they have been able to carve out in their small town. The American flag is very prominent in the show, and the decisions of the club are all decided in a direct democratic way by votes. Now of course it is an entertainment show so there are going to be issues that conflict with their agenda and they have to do things at times that does not fit this narrative. But by all accounts the characters in this show are family oriented (faithful husbands/wives with children) who feel the need to always do the right thing to protect the people they love, their town, and freedom of their way of life.
This porn star girl is not a main character, and the only reason this issue has been brought up in the show is because one of the main characters is struggling with the notion of having an abortion. The people associated with the “gang” are influencing her to keep the child, while those around her, her hospital co workers and this porn star girl she is helping are trying to make it seem like abortion is ok and no big deal.
Again, everyone is entitled to their opinion of the show and I just wanted to put my two cents in and put the show in perspective. I am not at all surprised this show advertises on Glenn Beck as it is very libertarian in its message.

I know that there are some that may believe that this kind of thing shouldn’t be on TV, but we need to face the facts that there are many people out there that believe it’s ok (I for one do not). I’m sue the writers could write that out, as well as the nudity, the killings, and other things that isn’t moral or legal. But there is just so many times I can watch “Old Yellow”
Maybe I’m missing something, but I didn’t see anything that jabbed Palin. Although I agree with 95% of what Sarah has stood on, I don’t see how anyone could think by a porn star asking a doctor “I bet you think…” can see how thats directed to Sarah.

Publius is right on this. Sure, the writers may have been getting in a dig, but it’s a pretty inefectual one when considered in context. An immoral character doing an immoral act chooses to do so under the name of one of our heroes. Big deal. What if an Al Qaeda terrosrist was depicted mocking Sarah Palin? Would we all be bothered by that? If we are then we have a real problem.

Posted on October 27, 2010 at 8:44pmI think you folks are missing the point. I’ll try to explain it as slowly and as clearly as possible–the character on the show who insulted Palin is a porn star. Her beliefs do not necessarily reflect the beliefs of the shows creators or writers. After all, I assume that none of them are porn stars, or drug dealers or murderers (as are other characters on the show). Therefore, if a character on the show endorses drug dealing, that does not mean that the writers themselves endorse drug dealing. If, on the show, a porn star at an abortion clinic is not a fan of Sarah Palin (would it be realistic to think she was?), then that does not mean the writers themselves hate Sarah Palin. Nor does it mean that this porn star is making a particularly profound political statement. Nor should we be shocked that the writers decided their fictional porn star would be comfortable making an off-color joke.
Have I explained things well enough? Just let me know if you need further clarification in terms of how fictional TV shows are not real life.

Report Post »I think you had better explain it again how television is not reality and that when writers depict as generally accepted cultural norms that differ from that of the viewership, reference narratives, histories and populisms that are known not to be true and place non sequitur political commentary into the mouths of half their characters it has no bearing on life because we ought to have a suspension of disbelief. I think the reason we don‘t yet understand is because you haven’t clarified it properly.

It is further flawed to say that someone couldnt be insulted by something that an imaginary character says as well. It is just as insulting.
Though that actress wishes she could have to fan following that Sarah does.
