Cain Accuser Makes the News Rounds: I Didn’t Sell My Story

WASHINGTON (AP) — The recurrent theme of questions for the woman who has publicly accused Herman Cain of sexual harassment is not why him, but why now.

Making the rounds of morning television news shows Tuesday, Sharon Bialek was asked repeatedly about her motives in coming forward against the pizza business executive and Republican presidential hopeful years after the incident of sexual harassment that she alleges.

She said she was “embarrassed” by the incident and wanted to move on. Bialek said she had nothing to gain financially, and in fact wasn’t even paying a fee to Gloria Allred, the nationally known attorney whose name has become synonymous with women’s rights issues. And Bialek said she decided to go public at this time mostly because her 13-year-old son told her to.

Bialek steadfastly defended her assertion Monday that Cain had made an inappropriate sexual advance toward her, years ago, while the two were in a car and at a time when she was out of work and seeking his help.

“I‘m just doing this because it’s the right thing to do,” she said in one interview. Bialek said she was neither paid nor offered a job to go public with her allegations. She said she waited so long to come forward because “I was embarrassed … and I just kind of wanted it to go away.”

Bialek said she encountered Cain at a tea party event earlier this year. “I shook his hand, and he remembered me,” she said. “He looked a little uncomfortable.”

Bialek acknowledged in another appearance that she faced dire financial difficulties a decade ago, and that she had filed for bankruptcy protection. But she said her decision to speak out about Cain was not financially motivated.

“It’s not about me. I’m not running for president,” Bialek said.

Asked about Cain’s characterization of her charges as a “total fabrication,” Bialeck stood her ground, saying she went public because “I wanted to give him a platform to come clean, to tell the truth.”

She said, “I was trying to be nice about it and it just didn’t work.”

Cain said late Monday there was “not an ounce of truth” to her accusations. He plans to answer questions in greater detail at a news conference later Tuesday in Phoenix.

Bialek said that one of the reasons she came forward to tell her story was that her 13-year-old son thought she should. “My biggest fan is my son. …. I called him and I said, `Nick, what do you think I should do?’” He said, `Mom, you have to do the right thing. I think you need to tell on him.’”

“That confirmed it for me,” Bialek said. “If my son is saying it I want to be the role model for him and for other kids growing up that this is not appropriate behavior.”

Bialek acknowledged money problems. “I have had bankruptcy and it was after the death of my mother, to help my father pay for medical bills, and a custody battle. Like millions of other people out there I was struggling. I could have sold my story but I didn’t.”

Bialek appeared on CNN, ABC’s “Good Morning America,” CBS’s “The Early Show” and NBC’s “Today” show.

      1. Where is the police report, attempting to force someone into a sexual act, as far as I can remember, is still illegal.
      2. Where is the report she filed against him at NRA? Come on use your brain, you do NOT have to work for a company to file a reports against an employee, especially if that employee is being accused of using his position to get sex. If I go to Wal-Mart, and an employee grabs my butt, I can file a claim on him, I don’t have to work there.
      3. Where are her witnesses?
      4. Where is the credit card receipt for the room upgrade in Herman Cains’ name? She rented the room where is the paper trail, she could have upgraded it herself, when she figured she would throw herself at Cain, but got rebuffed, then got mad. What hotel was it, where are the records?
      5. What was the name of the restaurant? What date was it, and time? Who paid for the meals? If Cain paid, file a lawsuit against Cain and force Cain to get a copy of that restaurant receipt showing TWO meals on the day in question.
      6. What is the name of her psychiatrist? She has been ohh sooo tormented by this ordeal over 15 years, that she has had to have therapy?
      7. Why was she fired from NRA?

      This is totally ludicrous, of course it is for money. She is unemployed seeking a payday. And Gloria really “stimulus package” that shows your true colors, you are out for political blood, not the welfare of your client. I want people to dig into this woman’s past, just like Joe the Plumber.

      From what I’ve seen so far, she doesn’t have a story to sell. No one has been proven to be guilty of anything. If her story is proved true and someone is convicted then she may have something to sell. If this has value then I have a few stories like that I could sell myself. Pay me.

      Yes I picked up Ms. Bailek and was suppose to take over to the NRA head quarters. However on the way there Ms. Bailek grabbed my leg as we were talking. When we arrived at the garage she again grabbed my leg and slid her hand down to my junk. As she was leaning her head towards my crotch she asked in a provocative voice”Did I need any employees with special talents?”
      I then asked her to please stop and told her I was a married man and loved my wife very much.
      I didn‘t take her in but rather drove her back to her hotel and informed her that the NRA isn’t looking for any women looking to blow their way to the top.

I do not like Ron Paul and never will. Cain has answered all of these points prior, and a close investigation of his stances would point the flaws of their accusations.

      Kid here’s the deal seeing the race card it work now they just moved on to different tactics one of the biggest voting blocs is women what better way to take that percentage away from him and come out with these allegations.If you are a woman does it not or will it not change your perspective on Herman Cain of course it will why do you think they did it? you see they knew that Herman Cain would draw some black support away from Barack, my question is where is the Republican leadership? The same place they’ve always been siding with the Democrats, Herman Cain is a Republican running for the office of the president of the United States you would think that the party he is representing would want the true facts to come out why are they in the shadows? In my opinion had this been Rick Perry or Mitt Romney there might’ve been some rumblings on the Hill. Let the truth be known and affirming Cain had done these things then by all means we can disregard him from the party yes or no? He is not running on the Democratic ticket so therefore you would think that he would have some support, did they not come out and support Rick Perry about the rock incident? And how about all the countless flip-flopping Mitt Romney has done in the past on all issues but all the pundits keep stabbing Herman Cain. In my opinion if we don’t come together as a party and a nation were going to lose it they have been at this far longer than we have.

No action was filed and no suit against Bialek. We should also remember Allred surfaced with the illegal housekeeper against Meg Whitman in California that amounted to no wrongdoing by Whitman.

    Who goes to their 13 year old child and asks them what to do in a situation like this?? When the fit hits the shan I hope you don’t blame your son for your ignorance. You will at the very least be harassed by the media until they have had their fill of you. Maybe you should have first explained to your son what slander is before you asked him to make such an important life decision for you!

      I think it‘s interesting that Romney’s ads are all focused on Perry even though Romney is in a virtual tie with Cain and Perry isn’t even close. It‘s almost as if the Romney people knew they didn’t need to waste money on Cain, they had other plans for him.

      Gonzo-You win the prize of the day! couldn’t say it better myself. I kept wonder a couple of weeks ago when Cain went to the top and everyone kept mentioning how cordial he is to Cain, but wow, look at the attack adds on Perry. It smelled then and it smells now. Why keep going for the bottom guy when there’s a person beating you in the polls? I also think if Cain would have dropped in funding and in the polls last week we would not have seen this ‘woman’ trotted out bright and early Monday morning.

      I am concerned that Cain may be alittle naive here in staying in good with Romney. I have decided I will not vote for Romney, but then again, i live in NY state so my vote is essentially useless when it comes to national elections for republicans.

      Least we forget not when asked about this Mitt Romney said this is very destructive how ironic, once again where is the real conservative reporters digging into this mess? It will be interesting to see tonight with the debates who is going to attack and who was going to try and defend Herman Cain’s position on this, who goes on the attack to me will be like a wolf let’s wait and see. It will also be interesting to see which moderator will pose this question to the people on stage.

Plus, the statement had this in it…”I was going to a Tea party event and didn’t know he was going to be there.(at most events, you go there because of who’s going to be there, it’s known way ahead of time.)       So Gilbertacct who is the leader of that country inform us, you people that believe in Ron Paul going around eliminate the income tax, so just bringing our troops home is going to resolve our financial problems what do we replaced it with? Hey I know we will legalize drugs and take that money to pay for our armies to defend this country, undoubtedly most of you’s that believe in legalize drugs have never been around a person who had a severe habit and what they do to supply that habit and who they do to supply that habit, it’s pretty frightening but some of us have stood up to it and actually had a put a loved one in jail because of it not only to protect us but to save their life? But getting back to tarp in its original form implemented correctly and not the way it was done would have worked.Seeing that President Bush released 350 billion towards the Lehman Brothers bailout and left the other 350 billion for Obama to spend which was a mistake but then again towards the end Bush made many mistakes. So what I’m saying is that Herman Cain believed the way it was originally meant would have worked he has not gone back on that word. And as you say he worked for the feds why would they be trying to take him down if he is good for them? From reading the blogs I see two people in Ron Paul’s camp the people that want drugs legal and the people that are against the Jewish people just my opinion!!!

    This lady is probably crazy, she’s probably paid, she’s probably making stuff up to bring down Cain… Now let‘s get back to the real issue of Cain supporting TARP and insulting anyone who didn’t… Or of Cain thinking the economy was doing fine until Lehman collapsed… Or Cain not knowing that China had nukes… Or Cain not knowing what it means to be pro-life… Or Cain not knowing that we don’t negotiate with terrorists… Or Cain not knowing what the “right of return” means… Or Cain not knowing who runs Ubeki-beki-beki-stan-stan and why that is important… Anyone want to discuss some important issues on Cain instead of this harassment nonsense?

      On the Bayou… Good point… let‘s talk about Herman Cain’s math… He said he would balance the budget in one year by implementing his 9-9-9(-9) plan and cutting 20% of the federal budget, without touching Social Security or Medicare. I’m sure he would not touch military either. SS, medicare/medicaid, and military make up about 60 percent of the budget. He also couldn’t avoid the 5% spent on interest payments. What does that leave? 35%. This portion includes Benefits for retirees and veterans (7%), scientific and medical research (2%), transportation infrastructure (3%), Education (3%), Safety Net programs (14%)… and other small items. This latter list of the 35% of the federal budget would have to be slashed by about 60% to achieve Cain’s ultimate goal of cutting 20% of the federal budget. This is not conceivable, so he must mean that he’ll cut 20% of what is left… which adds up to about $450 billion in savings. This, of course would not balance the budget, so he would need about $850 billion more in revenues to balance the budget. This means that either his 9-9-9(-9) plan is not “revenue neutral”, or Cain has no idea how to do math and he is counting on no one checking him on his claims. There is your math.

      Blackhawk… I’d love to discuss the earmark issue… I’ve got to run, but maybe I’ll post something on my lunch break.

    If you believe that a 13 year old son would tell his Mom to talk about such things in public, then you’re the one I would want to sell the Brooklyn Bridge to.

    Imagine what this kid is now going to go through at school, because his mother has decided to seek the limelight. By the way, where were her tears? Where during her “prepared speech”, probably written by Gloria A-Holes staff, did she hesitate, stammer a little, reflect back with disgust at the thought of being violated, etc. There weren‘t any moments like that because it’s all trumped up. We have all seen this before.
