Cain Tells Beck His Muslim Cabinet Comments Were ‘Misconstrued’

Herman Cain is out to set the record straight. If elected president, he now claims that he will consider appointing Muslims.

Two months ago, Cain set off a liberal firestorm when he allegedly told the ultra-leftist blog ThinkProgress (TP) that, if elected, he wouldn’t appoint any Muslims. When asked in a March interview with TP’s Scott Keyes if he would be comfortable nominating individuals who embrace the Islamic faith to his cabinet , he said:

No, I will not. And here’s why. There is this creeping attempt, there is this attempt to gradually ease Sharia law and the Muslim faith into our government. It does not belong in our government. This is what happened in Europe. And little by little, to try and be politically correct, they made this little change, they made this little change. And now they’ve got a social problem that they don’t know what to do with hardly.

Cain Tells Beck His Muslim Cabinet Comments Were ‘Misconstrued’

This morning, Cain appeared on Glenn Beck’s radio show where he discussed the incident. In reference to the comments posted by TP, he said, “That statement is not what I said. It has been misconstrued.” Politico reports that Cain has some regrets about his initial statement:

“I immediately said – without thinking – ‘No, I would not be comfortable,’” he said. “I did not say that I would not have them in my cabinet. If you look at my career, I have hired good people regardless of race, religion, sex gender, orientation and this kind of thing.

Misstatements happen, but there is definitely a difference between TP misconstruing interview content and Cain regretting his own words. So, which is it? Watch Cain’s comments to TP below:

Plus, you can watch and listen to Beck ask Cain about his controversial statement on today’s show (skip to 10:22 for the Muslim appointee discussion):

I wouldn’t hire one, tell you that much. And I don’t run the US government so they can all kiss my azzz. When their religious radical brethren stop causing mayhem around the world I’ll reconsider MAYBE. They won’t hire a Christian or Jew you can bet.

Until that time they’re all part and parcel of the same Islamic army, it’s just some are wearing the “uniform” and some aren’t while planting the Islamic flag across our nation under the radar of the moronic PC class.

If they wanna die at the edge of an Islamic sword be my guest, not in my world.

Shame on you for lowering yourself to the likes of terrorists and other unworthy people. True people of God do not talk this way, so I will assume you are NOT of God, or do not follow God, so who are you really following. Cain has a point about how Muslin shariah law has been making inroads into our justice system. How about the many honor killings here in america? Australia has just this week banned shariah law. The question of appointing any individual to judgeship, or any high official office should be vetted through the proper channels. Herman Cain has been going through plenty of questions as a candidate. Where were these concerned citizens when it came to questioning Barack Obama in 2007-8 presidential campaign. Besides the racist Glenn Beck, who challenged Barack Obama then? The media’s love affair with the President is clear. Others like Alan Keys, Supreme Court Justice Thomas, and Herman Cain are targets and preceived as uncle toms. Media’s political bias.

BTW – I do believe that 10% of the muslims truly want peace but they are too afraid to speak up…why? Because the other 90% of the “peaceful muslim” will kill them.

      Tomsinclairjr,
In an earlier post you stated that you are leaning towards voting for Ron Paul. I hope you stick with that choice, it is a wise one. That said, unless some of your other posts were meant to be “tongue in cheek” they seem to be a little contradictory. For example you agreed with Dudleydoright that we are at war with all Muslims. That’s obviously not correct in a literal sense and not really Christian in an ideological sense. (Here‘s where the neocon warmongers question my patriotism and wrongly assume I’m a Muslim loving atheist). In your reply above (to Conversationcanwork) you express your desire for a strong Christian candidate and I couldn’t agree more. If you will read Ron Pauls writings on foreign policy you will learn the true Christian conservative and constitutional position and I think you will like him even more. I don‘t mean to seem like I’m looking for an arguement I just get a little confused when Christians express support for a “war” that is needlessly causing thousands of deaths and bankrupting the country.

I know him well, and I know he loves his country and loves freedom. Your comment is no different than having someone lump all Christians with abortion clinic bombers. I am not an abortion clinic bomber, and yet I am a Christian.

People like you hurt the right. They hurt our ability to take the idea of limited government and freedom to the people, because when they see us, they see you. It isn’t about religion, it’s about freedom, and when you are willing to take a stand beside ANYONE who will stand with your for limited government and Constitutional Liberty, then you will see Christendom flourish.

If you are willing to condemn others based on their religion, then you shouldn’t complain when others do the same. Freedom in this country extends to everyone, and we must preserve that ideal in all men of all faiths. Think about it.

When you say that someone is “Muslim”…you are telling me that he follows the Quran as his holy book and the (tafsir), aimed at explaining the “meanings of the Quranic verses…Then sometimes a few traditions (hadith) of Muhammad were narrated to make its meaning clear…they MUST obey SHARIA LAW…

The problem is that WE ARE A REPUBLIC (a separation of church and state)…and the Muslim teachings DO NOT separate “church and state”…THIS IS A VERY BIG PROBLEM…these people need to get together and come into the 21st century…THEN…and ONLY THEN do I think that they should be allowed to PARTICIPATE in ANY role of our government…

Beck hit him on every issue voters to date have for him and he cleared the air on where he stands. I was concerned on his Fed position up until this morning when he spelled it out and is FOR a Fed audit, he just wont initiate one. Elect him and have him appoint Ron Paul Fed Czar and get the power back to the government to control our monetary system as delegated by Article 1 Section 8.

So you would rather have a President that miraculously nothing is ever his fault and only accepts responsibility for those things that go right (even if they weren’t his actions)? Hmm. Sound familiar? It should, we have already had plenty of those Presidents and where has it gotten us?

I am willing to accept some character flaw. Here is the one thing that worries me about a Cain, West, Palin, or Bachmann (even if Trump would join this circus):

      1. Many of us believe that the foundation is being laid for a dictatorship in the USA.
      2. Many of us believe that dictatorships are terrible.
      3. Many of us believe that to escape the coming progressive dictatorship (democratic dictatorship?) that America needs to turn itself around a full 180 degrees and time may be already too short.

So if the path has been created for a dictatorship, dictatorships are terrible, and America is short on time to save itself, what in the world is going to prevent West, Palin, Bachmann, and any other so called Tea Party candidate from falling into the well prepared grooves of dictatorship? The gears and rails have been put in place by our own slothfulness. So now that we suddenly decide we need to put the car in gear and turn ourselves around from sliding down this hill, what is going to get us out of the well-prepared path to dictatorship? For if we use the gears and rails created by this progressive machine, we would sacrifice our freedoms all in the name of saving our freedoms. Losing either

They hate the Jews and they hate Americans. Therefore, they have nothing to say to me that I would believe, so spare me your lectures. I would not appoint gays, Muslims, or anyone else who does not adhere to our U.S, Constitution – period and these two groups are sick. I would appoint true Patriots. I would let the gays alone, but I would NOT reach out to them. I will let God sort them all out. It is not my right to do so. I think the only person I would vote for right now is Ron Paul.

When the question was asked, the elaborate answer was that he doesn’t know of any Muslims to appoint, therefore, he had no knowledge of eligible Muslims because he had yet to associate himself with that group of people. He added that there’s a set of standards they would need to meet and he was criticized for putting too much religion in play.

How about putting that same criticism on Obama and look what you have. Muslim directives to overcome the United States of America. You can see that planting anti-Muslim questions we have allowed Obama to use Islamic values against us.

I would rather have a leader with God values than the likes of Obama idolizing Islamic extremist.

There are good muslims out there take Dr. Zuhdi Jasser for example he is constantly condemning radical islam. If he was an attorney or judge would some of you oppose him being appointed? He is one of the few actually speaking up against radical islam. Many of you need to go back listen to the interview and comprehend what is being said. I was on the fence on Cain but today I got over that hesitation as I posted above.

Who are are you going to back in ‘12? Romney, Pawlenty, Gingrich, Paul(god help us if he gets the nomination)?!! Career politicians, like they havent done enough damage already?! We need to be careful, during WWII, the Japanese were painted almost exactly the same as the Muslims are right now. Sure they had kamikaze pilots that are similar to the suicide bombers of today. We put them in concentration camps, even though great and noble men of Japanese decent were fighting valiantly for our country and freedoms. As a whole, the majority of Muslims are not too much different than us Christians. They have some who claim to be so passionate about their religion, but yet have never read the scriptures. We are falling into the same problems of the dark ages, only we have the scriptures to study, but many choose not to. Just like in the dark ages, wicked men are rising up and leading many in the wrong direction. We need to find out what we truly believe and live it. We don’t need to have a face to our enemy such as a Japanese or Muslim or whatever. Our enemy needs to be any one who fights against our freedoms and tries to force us to into iniquity. In this country, our real enemies wear the false cloak of Christians. Their deception is real and much more dangerous than all the Muslims, Chinese, Russians, etc. combined. The only real way to destroy our country is from within and the Chinese, Russians, and most of the world know this. The only ones who can’t see it is ourselves.

I assume you’re to young to recall Clinton was advised upon entering his presidency to leave the economy alone. The economy/job growth for H. Bush and both Clinton terms can be attributed to Ronald Reagan economic policies. I assume you forgot the dot.com recession Clinton left for Bush. I assume by “Balanced Budget” you mean the Republican House tying Clinton’s hands and also know the truth behind the “Clinton Surplus” Myth. I assume you were unaware the first six years of W. Bush’s presidency were some of the most prosperous years in history (and you are unaware of who gained control of the purse strings in the sixth year) despite the “illegal war” that was signed off on by almost every Democrat. I assume by deficit increase you meant Obama’s historic and unprecedented spending where he outspent 8 years of bush deficit spending in 2, amazing.

All that aside, I assume you realize this country has been getting screwed by both parties since before you/I were born. That you know if the back and forth Repub/Dem bickering continues we’ll continue to float down excrement creek without addressing the actual problem. That’s why you’d be better off addressing the log lodged in your eye before you address anyone else’s problem.

One last thing, despite 9/11 being months into W’s presidency, you failed to assign blame to Clinton, as did Bush. 2-1/2 years into Obama’s term and every negative unto this point has been placed on the back of Bus

When Obama too office, the world economy was in the worse state since the Great Depression, the worse state it’s ever been in in modern times. How long did it take the world to recover from the Great Depression?

Look, he is correct. We can‘t let sharia law inch it’s way into our law. It’s not fair. Someone like Dr. Yasser would be a perfect candidate to run for office. He is a proud Muslim but he understands the separation of mosque and state. There are sixty radicals now in office that would support sharia law and it is happening now. There are Muslims that are intent on destroying our constitution. He should stand by what he said but I’m sure he when he explained why that he made a great argument. Again, like our progressives brethren they do not get the point and they ignore the dangers. If you listen to Herman Cain and listen to what he says without prepositions he may be the man to get things done. His biggest comment yet is when he talks about educating the American public and teaching us what we don’t understand about taxes. The public is the Republic. Progressives, lefties and communists can all be given the information of math which I believe a majority of Americans are not to coherent when it comes to economics.

Look at what’s happening to France.

Wow. I can’t believe how many of the resident liberals (and crazies) I have spotted in the first reply line on the first post.

That being said… The nice thing about being “president” is that the president gets to choose who he wants the judges, advisors, and cabinet appointees to be, then the Senate gets to approve them. So, if Mr. Cain is uncomfortable with Muslims advising him or being in the judiciary, then he can not nominate any for those positions and the problem is solved. And frankly, call me a bigot (you can’t call me a racist because Islam is not a race) but I wouldn‘t have a problem if he didn’t nominate a Muslim to the bench or as an advisor. Anyone who can‘t see that Islam is the current source if most if not all of the terrorism in today’s world, then they are being blind or just trying to be politically correct.

I still want a Cain/West ticket for president.

The sooner everyone gets over the race thing, the better. Judge the man on his character not his color. Also take ALL of a man’s statements into account, not just one taken out of context.

He bowed to a single groups pressure and did not stick to his early promise. Had he of just stuck to his word he would have been a front runner. Now he is just another Newt Gingrich. Does he think that he would get the muslim vote if he backed of of his position? Answer is no, he would never get the muslm vote no matter what he did. He has an “R” after his name.

“You Ron Paul people are going to end up being the death of the United States. ”

only if they are not heard (and it has nothing to do with pot) it has to do with getting more of the same from yet another establishment politician GW1 = BC = GW2 =BHO = HC = THE REST OF THE REPUBLICAN FEILD they all have (or will) push forward a big government, big military industrial complex, big entitlements, less liberty agenda , Herman Cain seems to be the best of the establishment politicians in this race, but we don’t need the best establishment man, we need a constitutionalists who restores liberty, and Ron Paul is the voice for that need! if you count him out of the race this early, you are helping to silence the voice that America most needs to hear right now.. i personally think we are so close to the tipping point in this country right now that RP has a real chance, but even if he doesn’t, even if we have to let the same old politicians drive us the rest of the way off the cliff first we still need to let libertarian ideas into the debate and hopefully they will be the ones that shape it ….

If either Herman or Ron gets the nomination I will back them up 100% . Getting rid of the left is the most important right now.

There is no other process involved beside confirmation by a simple majority of the Senate….. So tell me sir, Explain the reality of why the President would subject any nominee, who he wants to be in his cabinet, to a test. There is no reality to that. Obviously he just plain would not nominate them if he had even the slightest concern, no matter what his bias. there are a few things that bother me about the upcoming election. obviously, if we continue to allow OhBummer and the Dem‘s to ’lead’ us we are, .. well, screwed.
problem is that the Tea party dispite the midterms, doesn‘t have anyone who can unseat him and the Rep’s are just second string/Jr Varisty hacks that couldn’t make it the first time. (personally, i’m glad huck is getting out of the way. dispite his huge following, he’s like clinton. i trust him as far i can throw him.) mitt is currently leading, due to name recognition, but he too will prove to be a complete and utter disappointment.
we need someone new, i really wanted allen west. but that won’t happen. i think the next best is herman. he has a good 5 point plan, but people wont give him 5 seconds to explain it because after all, what could a ‘pizza guy’ know? why not use his creditials as the former KC ‘fed man’ ?
basically, what i see happening is that the good guys are going to fail in the primaries then because they cant gain public recognition. then the rest of us will have to vote for some hack we can‘t trust and don’t support. of course, they will loose and barrack will stay in. to that i say, “OhBummer.”

Sorry, Muslims do not “worship” Jesus. They may revere him as a prophet in the same vein as Abraham and Moses, but worshipping anyone other than Allah would be a major no-no. The fact that Christians elevate Jesus to Son of God and the Trinity is incompatible with Islam and there being “no God but Allah”.
