Professor Steve Kinzey
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (The Blaze/AP) — Call it yet another case of a university professor behaving badly. Back in June, The Blaze brought you the story of a married New Jersey professor who was accused of running a prostitution ring. Now, a California professor is suspected of leading a motorcycle gang and methamphetamine drug ring. Authorities say that he’s wanted for arrest in California.
Steve Kinzey, 43, believed to be the president of the local chapter of the Devils Diciples motorcycle club, has been the target of a 6-month narcotics and weapons trafficking investigation, sheriff’s spokeswoman Jodi Miller said. KMIR-TV reports:
Kinzey has been an associate professor of kinesiology (the study of human movement) at California State University, San Bernardino for nearly 10 years. University president Albert K. Karnig said in a statement that the campus would assist in the investigation. The Los Angeles Times has more from Karnig’s statement:
“To our knowledge, this is the first notice that anyone on our campus has had regarding this situation. Our university police department and the entire campus community, as relevant, will work as closely as possible with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department to assist with the investigation to help assure that all the facts are accurate. If the allegations are indeed true, this is beyond disappointing.”
During a raid at his Highland home last week, investigators seized more than a pound of methamphetamine, rifles, handguns, body armor, leather biker vests and other biker paraphernalia and evidence of his involvement with the Devils Diciples. Investigators believed that Kinzey received large amounts of methamphetamine from a supplier and distributed the drug to a network of dealers, Miller said.
Police also found an undisclosed amount of cash at the house and said all the guns recovered were unregistered, the Los Angeles Times reported.
“To have an associate professor who is a member of the Devils Diciples and allegedly dealing methamphetamine is quite alarming. I mean, it’s unusual to say the least,” Sheriff Rod Hoops said.
Gawker‘s Jeff Neumann seems to think that some students may have begun to notice Kinzey’s odd behaviors. He writes:
…in a May posting on Rate My Professors, one student was definitely aware that something was up with Kinzey:
He’s a really good guy and would give you the shirt off his back. But something serious must have happened to him because he shows up late, and rambles on about random and controversial topics. He lost his focus & passion for teaching. His behavior lately makes it seem like he wants to get fired. Sad because I really enjoyed all of his classes.
Kinzey’s live-in girlfriend, 33-year-old Holly Robinson, and six others suspects were arrested on drug-related charges. They included Jeremy Disney, 30, of San Bernardino, who is suspected of supplying Kinzey with the drugs.
Robinson, who is believed to be a member of Devils Diciples, was arrested on suspicion of drug and weapon possession and participating in the drug ring. A call to the home she shares with Kinzey went unanswered.
Authorities are searching for three other suspects.

Posted on September 4, 2011 at 11:16amI don’t see it as such a shock. It totally fits the leftist mentality. You have to be a socialist to be a teacher, or at least it helps, these days. Do what I say not what I do? I just think it is more a sense of entitlement, to do what ever I want, than an in your face double standard.

Posted on September 3, 2011 at 7:09amWhy is it surprising that a progressive social liberal from a California institution of higher learning is also a lying, devil worshiping drug manufacturer that is poising the minds and lives of our children? Isn’t that the very definition of a liberal?

Posted on September 3, 2011 at 12:37pmJust FYI…
They intentionally spell it that way to make the point they are not a religious/satanic group, but, rather, using the name like a sports team, like “devil dogs” OR a squadron like “hellcats”, etc.
(per their own website)
Not an endorsement, but, I will stand for the TRUTH and do my best to track down original sources of information, whenever possible.

Posted on September 3, 2011 at 2:59amI’m really not that surprised. I got to know some of my professors personally when I was an undergrad and it wasn’t too far off from this guy. I was pretty screwed up at the time, and I learned drugs, and professors sometimes go hand in hand. Praise Jesus that, God saved my life via a car crash, and I died to that life of sin.

Posted on September 3, 2011 at 2:55amI went to Eric Cantor’s YouCut site and checked the National Science Foundation grant awards to see if this guy ever got a kajillion dollars of taxpayer money. He didn’t seem to appear to have received any grant money for Kinetics or anything else. Doesn’t that one just blow you away? That’s what all the rest of them do regularly. Swipe someone’s doctorate work as their own, flunk the poor kid, and put it in for lots of big dollars in taxpayer grants inorder to sip wine and snort whatever.

I can’t remember when San Bernardino was ever good. The City of Highland where this professor lives is almost as bad with lots of drug busts there. San Bern, Highland, Fontana, all places where bikers have a history.

By the way, the gang there at CSU have an online site where they rate their profs. Kinzey had a hot pepper by his name and the gang thought he was the greatest. There were a few others with hot peppers too. Maybe they sell stuff and ride bikes.

Posted on September 2, 2011 at 10:48pmyeah, but with a .357 magnum you can get a 2″ pocket revolver that you could pocket carry in shorts and no one would realize it was there. Plus, you can choose to use some .38 +P ammo if you wanted a little less kick (for the ladies ;P).

Did anyone notice the bike gang spells disciple as “diciple”? Wonder if that is deliberate? Anyhow, this guy seems like a real pillar of the community – I‘m sure he has tenure and the state of CA won’t fire him for fear he’ll sue from jail.
