SAN GABRIEL, Calif. – A suburban Southern California mayor has resigned days after his arrest for a purse-snatching and wild ride through streets with a woman clinging to his sport utility vehicle.
San Gabriel Mayor Albert Y.M. Huang says in an e-mail Tuesday to The Associated Press that he’s confident his reputation will be restored but decided to resign because of overwhelming media attention.
Investigators say the 35-year-old mayor and a woman were squabbling outside a restaurant on Friday when Huang fled in his SUV with her purse and the woman clinging to the side of the vehicle. Speeds reached 45 mph over more than a quarter-mile before the SUV stopped.
Huang was arrested and booked for investigation of felony assault, felony robbery and misdemeanor battery.

Posted on October 20, 2010 at 11:12am“As a public official and a former Boy Scout, I hold myself to the highest standard of conduct,” Huang said. As high as 45 MPH in a 25 zone with a “friend” attached to his SUV? It must have looked like a Road Runner cartoon.
Upon hearing of the Democrat Mayor’s troubles, David Axelrod said, can you prove he’s not a republican?

Posted on October 20, 2010 at 10:52amHa! Ha! I guess something went (Huang) for the Mayor. Laughable but sad I guess, there is a great saying that would fit here that has to do with the jungle but why upset anyone. Just seeing this come out, I absolutely applaud the woman. How dare he say something bad about Chinese dumplings ? Ha! Ha! Ha! Bye Mayor, before jumping off a bridge thought may I suggest you head for DC, I am sure Barak Obama might find something for you. Maybe food czar ? Just a thought..

Posted on October 20, 2010 at 11:15amThese so called “SUV’s” are clearly not covered by the 2nd amendment. There should be a reasonable waiting period to purchase one, if not an all-out ban on such dangerous vehicles.

Give the procedes to the Progressive party.
Then ask for a presidential pardon.

He gave $1,000 to Giuliani’s Presidential campaign and $250 to the Republican Central Committee of LA County.

I will not excuse either of them for the argument that led to the event of his driving off with her and her purse, yet they may have found some better way of dealing with it.
God be praised that no one else innocent of this matter was also hit, injured or killed.

Does this mean the CA taxpayers will have to choke more on taxes to pay for his defense or is he capable of paying his own lawers.
Somehow it would be purest of poetry for a politician to need a public defender (whos jobs are near impossible with too many working cases already).
