California Hot Dog Vendors Forced to Close Down After Occupiers Splatter Blood, Urine

In an ironic twist of fate, the owners of pair of San Diego coffee and hot dog carts — who initially provided free food and beverage to Occupy protesters – had to shut down after demonstrators turned violent, splattering their kiosks with blood and urine. CBS reports that Occupiers stole items from the cart in addition to spray-painting them with graffiti.
If that were not enough, the vendors also said they recently received death threats from protesters.
CBS adds:
The coffee and hot dog carts were located in Civic Center Plaza, the same location as the Occupy San Diego protesters.
Coffee cart owner Linda Jenson and hot dog cart operators Letty and Pete Soto said they initially provided free food and drink to demonstrators, but when they stopped, the protesters became violent.
“Both carts have had items stolen, have had their covers vandalized with markings and graffiti, as well as one of the carts had urine and blood splattered on it,” said Councilman Carl DeMaio.
Meanwhile, DeMaio said the damages will likely require a complete cleaning if not complete replacement of the food cart covers. And why vendors who showed kindness to Occupiers by providing them with complimentary refreshments would now receive death threats, remains unclear.

I’m sure they felt if they gave them free food, they would be left alone. But of course these are not rational people they are dealing with. We used to own a hot dog cart business and would secure it at the location at night. Also they probably couldn’t just go somewhere else, when you are permitted it’s usually for a specific location in order for the health dept. to do their inspections. By the way, these mobile food vendors are usually the cleanest food servers in town because everything they prepare is in front of everyone. You’d be surprised at what a restaurant looks like in the back!

When i was a young man, just out of high school i worked for a company taking care of fire equipment systems in the kitchens of some of what i though were the best restaurants in town. 3. Unless the Oakland police took pictures of all the hooligans, then all the victims can do is go to a police sketch artist.
4. If the vendors would have used a cell phone to take picture, the protesters, your friends, would have taken the phones & smashed them & beat them up.

Report Post »The vast majority of protesters are peaceful, clean, educated, employed people (not the ones camping who are really a small part of the OWS crowd). Roll out all the slurs you want but until you have interacted with, marched or talked to any of the protesters you really are just giving opinions on who you think these people are. It is a large group and anytime you get a large group together there will be idiots. At the protests I have attended anybody who even talked about property destruction or violence has been thrown out or talked out of it. The police can’t stop protests but they can stop a riot or property destruction. They would prefer there was violence, then they are justified in taking down the group. We all know this and it is the last thing we want. A small group of idiots do not represent the group. Acts like this also diminish public support of the movement and public support is what allow us to keep protesting. Say what you will about the OWS group but unless you have been there and talked to the leaders and supporters you really don’t know what you are talking about. I have been there frequently and what you are all describing bears NO resemblance to anything I have seen
