‘Can I Go? Please!’: Famous Singer Colbie Caillat Attacked by Giant Bugs During Live Performance

Singer Colbie Caillat Attacked by Bugs During Pittsburgh Performance of Bubbly

(Photo: Facebook)

Colbie Caillat, a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and acoustic guitarist from California, was recently performing at an outdoor concert in Pittsburgh when a swarm of uninvited guests took center-stage.

In the middle of holding the microphone out to the crowd so that they could sing her song “Bubbly,” Caillat retracted the microphone and moved toward the back of the stage, covering her hair and replacing the vocals with a squeal of “Ahh!” as enormous bugs surrounded her.

“I’m so sorry but this is really scaring me!” she told the crowd, ducking to avoid the largest of the insects.

As one landed on her, she screamed again before saying into the microphone: “Sorry, I don’t know if I can keep singing you guys…Can I go?  Please?”

As the crowd let out a sympathetic roar, Caillat launched into a final verse of the song, before ending the concert.

Watch the unusual performance, below (insect attack starts around 2:18):

Is She a FOLK SINGER..i miss the folk singers of the 60s, I grew up on Musicals from my parents, I had Janice Joplin & Jimmie Hard rock, Hubby had 50s and British sound, then i switched to medieval Renaissance new age stuff, like The Highwayman , then to Male Vocals , Female vocals, Tribal Music is good, and now just soft stuff cuz i am going deaf and can not hear squat..sigh..I love all music but the rap stuff drops too many F bombs, country music is sad, the dog always dies and pickem up truck always breaks down.. grin

So much anger here, some need to find a little peace in their lives and not be so ready to condemn each other. If you think this in not worth commenting on why do you do so? As for the fear of bugs no matter what, yes many do have a problem with them. It would have been nice if we knew what kind they were but it really does not matter. I went to school with a girl who was afraid of bugs, but I never underestimation her at anytime. Fear of the unknown effects many if no all of us so lighten up get a life and enjoy just being alive and stop finding so much fault.

Ugh. Colby is very famous. Those who say you’ve never heard of her make we conservatives look pretty bad…like you live under a rock or have never left your shelter boxes. For crying out loud, she is a Grammy winner, has sold over 6 million albums, 10 million singles, was backup singer to Taylor Swift and has collaborated with Jason Mraz. The song, “Bubbly,” she is singing in that clip has only played on the radio a bazillion times. One can hardly go into public and not have heard this song (it plays on a loop at many stores). Being conservative doesn’t mean we have to hide under the bed and ignore the world around us. Come on people.

Several years ago I saw her walking and using her cell phone near a tour bus parked at a local, near Interstate 40, motel parking lot. I did not know who she was, but I stopped and asked if she knew who the bus belonged to, and she said it was hers. She told me her name and said I probably had not heard of her, and she offered me a free CD. She opened the door of her bus and asked one of the people on it to give me a CD. They told her they were all stored in the baggage compartment of the bus. I thanked her and said, “that’s OK”.

In my brief encounter she was very nice and easy to converse with I wished her luck on her tour. Later I bought her first CD and it was a kind of “bubble-gum pop”, her voice is nice and while it was not my favorite kind of music, I hope she does great, and she is “famous” enough for me.

      And pretty too.

You don’t have to be famous to be successful. She had an audience of young girls singing her song with enthusiasm, I’d call that success. She is obviously talented, cute and the bug thing was funny. The things that happen at outdoor venues can be challenging if not amusing.
Fame is over rated. There are so many talented performers out there making hundreds of thousands of dollars performing nationwide each year that you “never heard of” either because it isn’t your particular style of music/entertainment or because you don’t get out much.

I’ve never heard of her either. She’s not bad. The problem is that in order to hear her, you’d have to listen to top forty radio. There is just so much ear-bleedingly bad music in top forty that I miss out on the few good ones who come along/ Hell, I’d never heard of Adele until a few weeks ago. Hewr stuff’s a little maudlin, but she has an amazing voice. Telling us that this Colby Caillat has worked with Jason Mraz really doesn’t hold the influence you may think it does. You see, I don’t know who that is either.

I say “not-so technically inclined” because if Bryan B was, he wouldn’t be having problems. Sorry, I don’t do major clean ups on Macs. Just the basic stuff like connecting to the Internet or a Domain or a printer and the like. Is your Mac a desktop or a laptop? What Mac OS?

I use my ISP (Internet Service Provider) for my main e-mail and Yahoo for my fake e-mail. By fake I mean an account that I can use when websites or people ask me to supply an e-mail in order to get something and I KNOW OR THINK they are going to send me a bunch of spam. I stopped using and deleted all my Google accounts in Feb. Yahoo is OK as far as I know at present. Just have a fake account when needed.

I’m not familiar with hushmail. There is a bunch of fake e-mail sites, like GMX, that offer free e-mail but are most likely Government run or some foreign hacking site. GMX = Government Mail eXchange.

I hope I’ve been somewhat helpful. My main expertise is on Windows computers.

Hey Blaze, Thanks for “moderating” my comment about pointless stories on the Blaze.

We can’t have any criticism now can we?

It’s not pointless. The Blaze provides such story as a service to give you guys an avenue to demonstrate to us silly, shallow people how important you are and how valuable your time is.

Here’s a tip: Prominently displayed very near each headline is a word that lets the reader know what category the story is in. This one very clearly read “Entertainment” which should have given you a clue that the story was not of significant “weight.“ If you see the word ”Entertainment” and the picture is not of someone you give a rip about, scroll on past it.

Personally, the “Entertainment” heading has a different meaning to me. I find it very entertaining to read through so many self important posts.

      Amica,
Which head line would you say was more accurate:
      A) Famous Singer was Attacked by Giant Bugs During Live Performance
      or
      B) Famous Singer who had all her songs written for her and a recording contract handed to her sang a song, said “OMG bugs”, ran in a circle, finished song.

She was not attacked by giant bugs. If she was attacked I would be happy. There was no bug attack. If a bug flew in her mouth, while the headline would have still been misleading, I would have refrained from commenting because that would have been worth watching. Nothing happened in this clip.

KSTRET – I could care less about the story myself, but actually Colbie writes her own music. Just sayin’.

Similar thing happened to the Smokin’ Armadillos at the Callaway County Fair back home in MO many, many moons ago. Sent the drummer running around the stage squealing like stuck pig. One of the best concerts I’ve ever attended. LOL!

If you’re not interested in the pieces in the ENTERTAINMENT section, then why click on them just to p*ss & moan about them?

      SistaTriscuit,
“If you’re not interested in the pieces in the ENTERTAINMENT section, then why click on them just to p*ss & moan about them?”

I’m joking…. You must admit that the tag line doesn’t match the clip.

“but actually Colbie writes her own music.”

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck also really wrote Good Will Hunting.

I am going to do something that I do not do very often ….I’m going to play the wiki card.

      Here is strike #1, #2, and #3:
Caillat soon met producer Mikal Blue, who hired her to sing on techno songs used at fashion shows. Caillat began playing the acoustic guitar at age 19, and Blue helped her record her first song.

      Strike #4:
Caillat’s second album, Breakthrough, was released in August 2009. Most of the album was co-written by Jason Reeves and features guitarist David Becker on two tracks. Becker has worked with Caillat’s father Ken

      Strike #5
Her father, Ken Caillat, co-produced Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours #1977# and Tusk #1979# albums

      let me translate:
She said, “Daddy I want to be a singer and I want to be famous.” Daddy paid for singing lessons. She picked up a guitar at 19, so she wouldn’t get trapped into the Britney Spears genre. Helping her record her first song and co-wrote is code for they wrote the songs and she sings them.

It’s not your fault…. this kind of music is like crack for women…you can’t help it. John Mayer knows all about it….

      That should have read:
Put the UFC on T.V at a party and you will get the same effect with men.

It should also be pointed out the both the UFC and John Mayer have disastrous end results. The John Mayer experience usually ends with an STD and a bunch of guys watching the UFC usually ends with a drunk guy with a Napoleon complex starting a fight that escalates to a large brawl.
