Jimmy McMillan is one of seven candidates for New York governor. During a crowded debate last night he needed to stand out in order to make his message known. Fair to say, he was successful:
His platform: “My main job is to provide a roof over your head, food on your table, and money in your pocket.”
This is not McMillan’s first foray into politics. In 2009 he also ran for New York City mayor:
That campaign may have made him a political pioneer. He realized that if the rent is too high, how can he expect people to afford a donation to his campaign? He vowed to run a campaign without money or donations. He explains more here:
A true pioneer for sure.
UPDATE:
Fox had some fun this morning talking about McMillan and some of the other candidates at the debate, including Elliot Spitzer’s former madam:
UPDATE II:
Gawker did some extensive research on McMillan and found more than you may ever care to know, including why he wears black gloves:
Don’t forget I was in Vietnam for two and half years and I have three Bronze Stars, but the chemicals of Agent Orange—dioxin and a lot of other chemicals mixed up—I would get sick. When I get home tonight, I know I’m not going to be able to breathe if I take them off. It could be psychological, I don’t know, but I just put em on and wear them anyway.
They also uncovered this campaign song:

Posted on October 19, 2010 at 12:27pmSeriously, this cat sounds just like Odumbo. The rents too damn high so what’s the answer? Let’s have the government pay for it (aka – all the white middle class). At least this guy isn’t pulling any punches. Maybe Odumbo wouldn’t sound like such a hypocrite if he actually came out and told everyone his real agenda.

Posted on October 19, 2010 at 12:25pmWow. Everyone thinks they can do a better job running NY state & they’re probably right. David Patterson inherited a train wreck & then found a way to double the size of the wreck. See why fly-over country is such a better life. We don’t end up with freak shows like we saw in the debate last night. Everyone’s rent is too high. It’s New York. What’s the price of a Happy Meal now 8 bucks in NY?

Posted on October 19, 2010 at 12:22pmThe average Rent in Boise Idaho for a two bedroom apt. is around 600.00. The average rent for a 5 bedroom home in Boise is about 1400.00. That is in the main part of the City with direct access to downtown, stores, schools. This city is generally republican. New York – Liberal/democrate. Why do you not learn from people that make it work instead of those that fail?

Posted on October 19, 2010 at 2:36pmTell you He’s not real? I wish that I could. He sounded as a socialist, communist. Forcing residential, industrial and, commercial landlords to lower the rent. Telling business what they must pay employees and what to charge for their products and/or services. level the mountains ( unlimited drilling for energy sources). Seems as a communist to me. He looked and sounded as a clown to me. I pity those who signed the petition which got him on the ballot and, those who support his candidacy. I pity us all if he somehow gets elected.

Posted on October 19, 2010 at 12:47pmFor the accurate record, Mr. Bonehead CITIZENX,
If you’d done any research on the Socialists organizations and parties, you’d know that community organizing and outreach programs have been their number one tool. It‘s their leading topic at all Socialist conferences and they’ve been utilizing these for over 50 years. Close to 90% of this nations ‘Community Organizations’ have at least some affiliation or tie to a Communist/Socialist group. Grow a brain before spewing your Liberal spin here. There’s more intelligence at this site than your used to at your Prog/Lib propaganda factories.
P.S. My first thought was that Mr. McMillan was the hoods version of Willy Wonka. Half expected hip hop Oompa Loompa’s to pop out and start rapping and break dancing.

Not to worry, there will soon be a very high demand for Conservative Community Organizers. We’ll need lots of them to Organize Whole Communities of Socialists and Communists for their trips out of this country or to their final resting places. You should register early if you want the Best Seat or Site available.

Posted on October 20, 2010 at 5:12amHis banter does touch on a subject important to a lot of US citizens, and given the majority of people now in a position of economic failure, He might just beat out the 2 main clowns for just having enough attitude.
But in all seriousness, the issue about “the rent is too damn high” kinda rung a bell for me. my family has a large peice of land that we own outright and want to develop. We pay a large tax bill every year yet we are told what and how we can use the land. It had me saying “the rent is too damned high” I did some research and ran accross this little tidbit…
——————————————————
Question
I own a dozen acres. In the past it has been used for growing crops. Now I want to put a few horses and a small shed on it, but the county won’t allow me. Who owns my land? Where are my rights?
Answer
You have a conflict between what you want to do with your land and what the zoning authorities permit — an all-too-common problem these days.
Today, while you own your own land — in theory — in practice, it can be taken from you and given to another private party through eminent domain, if the local government believes it will receive more taxes that way.
The local zoning board can tell you what you may or may not do on your land. Even if you own the land “free and clear,” the government can take it from you if you don’t pay property taxes. And property taxes amount to, in practice, a kind of “rent” you have to pay the government each year to be allowed to keep living on your own property!
In a libertarian society, government couldn’t take your land by eminent domain. There would be no zoning boards. Deed restrictions, which you would be aware of when you bought the property, would be the only limitations on what you did with your property. Deed restrictions would protect your property rights, and also protect your neighbor’s property rights, far more fairly and effectively than zoning laws.
Finally, a truly libertarian society would have no taxes, so the government couldn’t take your land for not paying the “rent” of annual property taxes.
If you like the idea of having the freedom to do any peaceful thing you wish on your own property, you just might be a libertarian. If so, join us and help make real freedom ring!
——————————————-
I always thought I was a republican conservative. Who would’ve thought I was a Libertarian. I STILL DISPISE PROGRESSIVES!!!!
