Canned: Journalist Reportedly Axed for Story About Prez and ‘Far Left’ Environmentalists

A reporter that was put on leave in July after describing some environmental groups as “far Left” and saying that President Obama receives the most BP campaign contributions of anyone on Capitol Hill, has now been fired by WJLA-TV (ABC 7) in the Washington, D.C. area.
According to the Washington Post, the station’s news director, Bill Lord, took exception to veteran reporter Doug McKelway’s July story on environmental protests at Capitol Hill:
In his piece, McKelway said the sparsely attended event attracted protesters “largely representing far-left environmental groups.“ He went on to say the protest ”may be a risky strategy because the one man who has more campaign contributions from BP than anybody else in history is now sitting in the Oval Office, President Barack Obama, who accepted $77,051 in campaign contributions from BP.”
After a brief taped segment updating efforts to cap the BP well, McKelway added that the Senate was unlikely to pass “cap-and-trade” legislation this year, because “the Democrats are looking at the potential for huge losses in Congress come the midterm elections. And the last thing they want to do is propose a huge escalation in your electric bill, your utility bill, before then.”
The Post also reports that McKelway has been outspoken regarding liberal media bias in the past.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 3:36pmOk, let’s start with a crowd estimate of 87,000. Add a 3 or 4 to the front of that and at least you won’t be exposed as a complete imbecile. See, that’s actual smugness: Contented confidence of one’s ability, superiority, or correctness.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 3:48pmSmugs smiley, Darling, I’d vote for the incorrect contained within,”How dumb do these people think we are?” Emphasis on dumb.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 3:54pmDarling, if you say “Let’s start with…” I expect you to continue with a few more points! Also, it’s considered good form to back your assertions up in some way. Because confidence in your ideas itself doesn’t cut it. Like so:
http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/The-Vote/2010/0830/Glenn-Beck-rally-attendance-calculating-how-many-really-showed-up
Somehow, between 78000 and 96000 sounds a little more reasonable.
And what’s wrong about “almost exclusively white, mostly old, anti-government, anti-tax, far right wing conservatives”? I‘d say that’s a pretty accurate representation of the audience, judging from photos, audio material and videos.
Also, an IMPORTANT part of being smug is being condescending towards the other party.
Darling.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 4:46pmBroker0101, it’s pretty obvious that you were abused as a child, which evidently is why you derive masochistic pleasure from trying to anger complete strangers. It’s pretty cowardly of you and your attempts to belittle other people merely reveal that you were belittled as a child yourself. Additionally, it’s plain to see that your deluded sense of superiority can only be fed by making others feel more worthless than you feel about yourself. You can’t get back at the person who molested you, or beat you, or the children who tormented you in school, so you come into discussion forums, where you can be anonymous, to vent your anger. It’s a classic case of misplaced aggression. Regardless, I’m sorry you suffered the kind of childhood that apparently caused you to develop into an obnoxious twit, but why don’t you take it somewhere else? If you can go get therapy and learn how to interact appropriately with strangers, I’m sure people in here would welcome you with open arms, but until then, your borderline personality is stinking up the place.

Posted on September 17, 2010 at 2:09pmTypical left wing tactics, you don’t like the message, kill the messenger. The leak was a bad thing but nature proved it heals itself and we are too weak to affect it regardless of how we try. Global warming extremists are in denial over the proof their grail to save the earth is not needed, nature provides for itself. Now, as the global warming hoax is further uncovered they feel cheated and inadequate so the answer is attack, attack and attack again. Call the informed populous stupid, ignorant, greedy capitalists even environmental racists (using the r word always works). They have my sympathy. When I think how they must feel when they realize their entire lives, their entire movement, their whole reason for living has been based in a pack of lies and flawed research, they have no other avenue to pursue outside of fighting back with redoubled efforts.

Posted on September 18, 2010 at 3:07amNot so fast. How long has he been towing the progressive party line? All of these so-called reporters should be kept at arm’s length. They are primarily responsible for the mess we‘re in now because they’ve withheld the truth in order to move forward their progressive agendas.
They were instrumental in this administration coming to power and we should not forget that.

He as a reporter told a story, there were facts in the story so what is the problem. Obama should be the one sticking up for this guy, but it will never happen. What a sad state of affairs we are in when facts will get you fired. How sneaky of ABC to make the guy wait a month without pay till the controversy quited down before they let him go.
