Cantor Dials Back Occupy Wall Street ‘Mobs’ Remark, Says Frustration is ‘Warranted’

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor attempted to walk back comments referring to the “growing mobs” of the Occupy Wall Street movement, saying Sunday that the protesters’ frustration is “warranted.”
“I think more important than my use of that word is there is frustration out there across this country, and it’s warranted,” the Virginia Republican said on “Fox News Sunday.” “Too many people are out of work.”
In an Oct. 7 speech at the conservative Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., Cantor said he was “increasingly concerned about the growing mobs occupying Wall Street and the other cities across the country.”
Still, Cantor stood by his remarks castigating elected officials for their support of the movement, encouraging blame rather than working to find a solution.
“Where I’m most concerned is we have elected officials in this town who are, frankly, joining in an effort to blame others rather than focusing on the policies that have brought about the current situation,” Cantor said. “I mean, when you hear some of the Democratic elected leaders joining in blaming parts of our economy and society versus let’s take some of the credit or blame here in Washington.”

I understand why the frustration in this Occupy thingies, but you are calling out the wrong people.
Go attack Obama, Democrats, FRANK/DODD & Congress for causing most of these problems. Wall Street and the Banks are just puppets who were threatened if they didn’t do the dirty work of the Democrats.
I’m all for the anger, just get it directed to the right place. I‘m sick of the CEO’s making millions off us little people. I’m pizzed at bailing out car co. and energy Co. that go bust in the night and we lose our hard earned money in the billions. But I’m also angry at letting 1/2 the Nation get away without paying taxes who live beyond their means.
Remember when the poor didn’t have but one car, no washer/dryer (my mom didn’t) no TV because we couldn’t afford one, let alone the cable bill. Didn’t make long distance phone calls because they were too expensive so we wrote letters, never ate prepared food from stores because we couldn’t afford it (still don’t because they are mostly crap) certainly no dishwasher or microwave. Just basics.
There are no poor in this country compared to the rest of the world. You people need to get out and travel to see what the rest of the world looks like, you’re lucky to have even a refrigerator.

It’s a political maneuver – as is everything. However, they do need to explain the truth of the matter more and who is really to blame, etc. They just never seem to do that. Not only that, it needs to be repeated over and over and over on national level. There are some things that need to be changed but it’s the misunderstanding of blaiming it on capitalism & Repubs. only. That needs to be explained & how the Dems are involved…not the Repubs. What is being said is, “Why would you?” They have no consideration for other people‘s property and there attitude of entitlement to other people’s wealth and possessions is childlike. For instance, one of their biggest gripes is Wall Street was bailed out and individual citizens were not. Two wrongs do not make a right. They are right to be angry about the bank bailouts, and they are petty, jealous children for wanting their own bailout.

Posted on October 16, 2011 at 2:31pmReally? The Tea Party rails against the politicians that caused the problem, not the banks that were forced to give sub-prime loans when Bill Clinton signed that law in 1999, and who were overseen in doing it by folks like Christopher Dodd and Barney Frank. Despite being warned as early as 2003 by Republicans of the coming mortgage failures, Barney Frank was declaring the mortgage industry safe and investment worthy as late as July of 2008, even as the whole system was collapsing!
Cantor stands with the Tea Party in getting rid of the old corrupt crony political system, while the Flea Baggers are protest about… who knows what… it seem to be different every time they interview one of them.
I’m certainly no fan of the banks… but you can’t legislate them to do things that make no sense at all, then blame them for the outcome. Regulate them sure; but forcing them to make risky loans where they lose money just makes them have to find new ways to get more money out of the responsible people. (i.e. more fees, higher credit card interest, etc.) Democrats should actually LOVE the banks for that, since it lets the irresponsible off the hook, and makes the rest of us pay for it… just like Democrats want the tax system to work.

Posted on October 16, 2011 at 2:46pmDid you even watch the video? Like Cantor said, Washington needs to be held accountable for their role in this mess. I’m not sure how that makes Cantor a hypocrite. He didn’t condone the protests, he merely stated he understands their frustration. BIG difference.
The truth is, a lot of people have lost their jobs at no fault of their own, been unable to find new employment, and/or have lost their homes because of it. To start your own business takes capital … which the gov’t has blocked with all their new regulations. A few of these people have legitimate gripes … however living in filth on the streets with a bunch of misguided souls certainly isn’t a solution to their problems. This is far from a networking opportunity to find meaningful employment.

Upon its death Capitalism was replaced with Cronyism. The death of capitalism was never acknowledged and the Wannabe Tyrants continued to blame the corpse for their economic failures justifying their attack on individual freedom. This is from an article on Breitbart (whom I love)
“We currently find ourselves in Phase 3. Senior members of the White House administration, and the President himself, have expressed support for OWS. Democracy for America, a Howard Dean initiated group just sent an email blast to more than a million members tonight selling yard signs that say “We Are the 99%” with co-branded urls: OccupyWallSt.org and DemocracyforAmerica.org/occupy. OWS is embraced by the establishment as a means to amplify existing agendae(sic). Bloomberg gives tacit “permission” for our occupation, effectively rendering it non-threatening and normalizing it. Expect the media to try to elicit sympathy for these pathetic dupes of the Wannabe Tyrants. Remember, the purpose of these demonstrations is to produce the chaos to justify the declaration of martial law, suspension of the Constitution and final consolidation of the Tyrant’s power.
Any declaration of sympathy for these mercenaries will only escalate the violence and enhance the Wannabe Tyrant’s objective.
There can be no compromise with these mercenaries. The only compromise, they will accept are those that increase their power and escalate the violence. Do not forget that chaos and violence is the objective of these mercenaries’ leaders.
The chaos justifying the declaration of martial law and suspension of the Constitution requires considerable violence. Sufficient force must be brought to bear on these mercenaries to end this civil disobedience before the American Revolution ends in a dictatorship. It is much later than you think!
